Linebacker D.J. Williams has returned to the team, and Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway is confident that Williams has remained in top shape during his time away.
In Tuesday’s episode of Elway Access, hosted by Broncos TV’s Chris Hall, Elway said that Williams “has been working out hard” during the suspension, but it’s still important to ease him back into the game.
“You can only get in football shape by playing football,” Elway said. “That’s why it’s important to work him in there slowly. This time of year, those linebackers take a lot of hits. He is going to be able to give those guys some time and some rest and not take that beating that they take. But we have to work him in there. We can’t give him too many reps. We’ll slowly work him in there and we’ll see how he fits.”
Elway also spoke on another Broncos linebacker during the 30-minute podcast. After a stellar performance against Carolina, linebacker Von Miller garnered praise from the boss.

The National Football League will continue its long history of honoring veterans and active-duty members of the military with its annual Salute to Service campaign. For every point scored during the NFL’s 32 designated Salute to Service games, the league will donate $100 to each of its three core, military non-profit partners – Pat Tillman Foundation, USO and the Wounded Warrior Project.
The Salute to Service campaign, which began in Week 9, is designed to unify and elevate the extensive military appreciation work of the NFL and its clubs. Throughout November, teams will designate one home game to honor the military. Denver’s contest vs. San Diego on Sunday, Nov. 18 is the team’s dedicated Salute to Service game.
During these games, teams will display a number of Salute to Service-branded elements in stadiums, with the majority in and around the end zone in order to highlight the league’s new donation program tied to scoring. Branded elements include goal post wraps, pylons with camouflage ribbon decals, wall banners and the words Salute to Service written in the back of the end zone.
Denver’s game vs. San Diego is sponsored by USAA and OtterBox and is dedicated to our all of veterans and our U.S. Armed Forces serving throughout the world. Representatives from the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Wounded Warrior Heroes from Fort Carson will be recognized during a special halftime ceremony. Several other military guests will be honored throughout the game during coin toss, player introductions, Broncos Country Heroes Recognition and Salute to Service Recognition.

For the second straight week, and third time this season, the Broncos have earned the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week.
Denver’s 95-yard game-winning drive against the Jets was voted as the moment or play of the week that best represents determination and perseverance.
The Broncos won the award for Tim Tebow’s 56-yard touchdown pass late in Denver’s 17-10 victory over Kansas City and also for their for come-from-behind victory over Miami in Week 7.

Von Miller put forth his best all-around performance to date last Thursday against the Jets and the NFL took notice.
After recording a career-high 10 tackles, 3.5 stops for loss and 1.5 sacks in the 17-13 win vs. the Jets, the Broncos rookie linebacker has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Miller — the No. 2 overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft -– is the first Bronco to win the award since cornerback Champ Bailey was honored in 2009. He’s also the first rookie to win the award since Texans linebacker Brian Cushing in 2009.
Miller has been wreaking havoc in pass-rush situations all season and currently leads all rookies in sacks with his team-leading 9.5. He has also tallied 14 tackles for loss and 48 total tackles.

With the Broncos’ Week 11 win in the rearview mirror, there are still plenty of intriguing games this week for Broncos fans to keep an eye on.
Oakland Raiders at Minnesota Vikings
Mall of America Field
Sunday, 11 a.m. MST, CBS
The first game of interest features the current AFC West leader — the Raiders — and the Broncos’ Week 13 opponent — the Vikings. The Raiders are coming off a victory in San Diego last Thursday night that propelled them to the top of the division. This will be quarterback Carson Palmer’s fourth game with Oakland, as defensive end Jared Allen and the Vikings hope to get to him and get back on track after Monday night’s loss to the Green Bay Packers. An Oakland loss would mean Denver has at least a share of the division lead entering Week 12.

9:55, 1st quarter
The Broncos faced a fourth-and-1 from the Jets 21-yard line on their opening drive and decided to go for it, rather than attempt a field goal. David Harris broke through the line and stopped Willis McGahee short of the mark, turning the ball over on downs.
8:33, 1st Quarter
On the Jets’ first possession of the game, they faced a third-and-4 from their own 27-yard line when Elvis Dumervil and Von Miller met in the backfield to sack Mark Sanchez for a 6-yard loss. The stop led to a 13-yard punt that set the Broncos offense up with great field position that resulted in a 37-yard field goal by Matt Prater to put the team ahead 3-0.
1:16, 1st Quarter
Facing a third-and-3 from the Broncos 34, Mark Sanchez threw a 10-yard pass to Santonio Holmes that was ruled a completion on the field, but overturned when Broncos Head Coach John Fox challenged the call. Instead of a first down at the edge of the red zone, the Jets were forced to attempt a 52-yard field goal that was no good.
Tim Tebow engineered a 12-play, 95-yard touchdown drive in the final minutes to give the Broncos a 17-13 win over the Jets.
Tebow scrambled left for a 20-yard score to give Denver the late lead and the defense forced an incompletion as time expired to seal the victory.
The Broncos improve to 5-5 on the year with the win over the Jets.

UPDATE: Denver has taken the lead on a 20-yard touchdown run by Tim Tebow.
Tebow scrambled left on third-and-four as the Jets brought pressure and sprinted into the end zone to give the Broncos a 17-13 lead with just under a minute to go.
The Broncos started the drive at their own 5-yard line with 5:54 left. Tebow has led the Broncos threw the air and on the ground. He has 34 yards rushing on the drive and is 3-of-5 passing for 35 yards.
The two big plays on the drive are a third-and-1 rush by Tebow for a first down and an 18-yard completion to Dante Rosario to put them at the Jets 26-yard line.

PREGAME:

We’re up and running here at Sports Authority Field at Mile High getting ready for the Thursday night showdown between the Broncos and the Jets.
It’s a bit windy now and temperatures are expected to be in the mid-40s at game time.
Several Broncos have taken the field and are warming up. Offensive linemen J.D. Walton and Zane Beadles had a spirited punting and throwing competition a little while ago — they hit the crossbar from 25-yards out on a throw four times in a row — as they were the first players on the field, but it’s all business now with the game less than two hours away.

SALUTE TO SERVICE: The Broncos are honoring the United States Military tonight. Before the game, the team will honor the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Wounded Warriors and Military Order of the Purple Heart on the field with game balls from former Broncos players Billy Thompson, Randy Gradishar and Simon Fletcher. Three members of the Tuskegee Airmen will be honored in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Tuskegee Airmen.
