It’s hard not to have fun when wine’s involved.
So it came as no surprise Wednesday night that Uncork for a Cause, a charity event hosted by wide receivers Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas, brought a great turnout for a great reason.
“It’s Uncorked for a Cause, and the cause we picked was Judi’s House,” Decker said. “It’s a pretty neat deal. I think a lot of times you get the kind of cookie-cutter charity events. This one involves wine. We (Decker and Thomas) both have a wine with Judi’s House on the label. It’s pretty neat. The biggest thing is Judi’s House is for kids that have been through losing a parent or sibling due to cancer. It’s a way for them to cope with their emotions and figure out how to move on in a positive way. They do an amazing job with helping so many people in Denver, and we wanted to contribute.”
As Decker mentioned, the mission of Judi’s House is to help children and families grieving the death of a loved one find hope and healing. The idea behind the program, founded by former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese and his wife, Dr. Brook Griese, is to create a community in which no child feels alone in grief.
