Broncos vs. Buccaneers: Pregame Notes

12:00 p.m. MDT: A few days ago, the forecast showed lots of rain for today.

Thankfully, that is not the case.

It’s extremely clear out — on the drive to the stadium, I could see the mountains more clearly than I could for the past couple months.

Down on the field, Darrell Hackney is throwing a round a little bit while the CU Buffoons practice singing the national anthem.

At one end of the field, Mitch Erickson, Dylan Gandy and Erik Pears are throwing the football around. They have been trying to hit the crossbar from 25 yards out, and not too long ago, Pears nailed it.

Well, I’ll be heading down onto the field with Jake Grilley to snap some pictures here in a little bit once more players start warming up.

Stopping the Run Essential

October 3rd, 2008 - 4:25pm by Adam ZinserOther posts by

It’s Friday, and we all know what that means. Most people are itching to get out of their workplaces and head home for the weekend.

But that’s not the story at Dove Valley.

For the Broncos, today has been all about making the final preparations for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — get their gameplan set, know their assignments and fix any problems they may have seen on film. It’s time to get back to their winning ways after last week’s loss. It’s time to refocus.

“You would expect that, because we feel like we missed out last week — we knew we should’ve won that game,” Champ Bailey said Friday. “But we didn’t prepare well enough. I think you kind of stress that during the week, ‘OK, we’ve got to practice harder and prepare harder.’ And I think guys understood that and people stepped it up a little bit.”

Fixing The Mistakes

Whenever Brandon Marshall feels he has a bad or even so-so game, he takes it upon himself to make all the necessary corrections to turn things around.

That is certainly the case this week as he prepares for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“I couldn’t sleep Tuesday night,” Marshall said in his press conference Thursday. “I was anxious, and I was looking forward to practice. Just getting out there and being able to polish up some things.”

A Fight For 4-1

October 1st, 2008 - 7:40pm by Jake GrilleyOther posts by

The Broncos are entering this weekend’s game against Tampa Bay 3-1, fresh off the team’s first loss of the season. The Buccaneers are also 3-1, but Tampa has put together three straight wins following the team’s opening weekend loss against New Orleans. Both teams have taken different routes to get where they are a quarter through the NFL season, but to each team Sunday’s showdown is critical in keeping their productive starts going.

Denver will attempt to rebound and collect some of its early season momentum while Tampa will try and keep its winning steak alive. Regardless of what each team has done up to this point, both know a 4-1 start is better than a 3-2 one.

Jay Cutler said every game comes down to preparation and execution.

“It is a chess match,” Cutler said. “Each and every game is and all season long is about how you can arrange, adjust and tweak things.”
