While Tim Tebow will take the field at Sun Life Stadium in South Florida for the first time as a pro on Sunday, it won’t be his first appearance at the stadium.
“I’m very excited about it—not that it’s in Miami or in Florida,” Tebow said. “Just the opportunity to start for the Denver Broncos and that truly is an honor and a privilege.”
As a senior at Nease High School, Tebow led the team to the 2005 4A State Championship, defeating Armwood 44-37 at what was then named Dolphins Stadium. In the game, Tebow completed 18-of-27 passes for 237 yards and four touchdowns to go with 153 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns to lead his school to its first state title.
During his junior season at the University of Florida, he led the squad to a 24-14 victory in the BCS National Championship game over Oklahoma at Sun Life Stadium. Tebow finished that game 18-of-30 for 231 yards with two touchdowns and compiled another 109 yards on the ground and earned game MVP honors.
