Young Waived
The Broncos announced on Thursday that running back Selvin Young has been waived.
Young joined the Broncos in 2007 as a college free agent from the University of Texas. He played 23 games (13 starts) in two seasons with Denver, totaling 201 rushes for 1,032 yards (5.1 avg.) with two touchdowns and 38 receptions for 247 yards (6.5 avg.).
Pope and Young to Injured ReserveIt has been a rough year for Broncos running backs, and now P.J. Pope and Selvin Young join their five ball-carrying teammates on IR.
Head Coach Mike Shanahan just announced in his press conference that the two running backs will be placed on injured reserve after suffering injuries in Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Pope tore his hamstring, and Young ruptured a disc in his back.
Shanahan also announced that the team would be signing Cory Boyd back onto the active roster from the practice squad along with re-signing Alex Haynes, who was on the roster earlier in the season.

Clady and Cutler Honored, Injury UpdatesAWARD UPDATES:
The Broncos Ryan Clady and Jay Cutler were each honored with NFL awards for their performances in Week 14.
Clady was named Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week, the first time an offensive lineman has won the award since it started in 2004. Clady led an offensive line that allowed Cutler to pass for 286 yards and two touchdowns, prevented Kansas City from recording a sack and allowed Denver to total 139 rushing yards in the team’s 24 -17 win over the Chiefs.
Clady is the fourth Bronco to have won the award this season. Eddie Royal has been voted Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week twice. It is the fourth time in the last five weeks that a Denver Rookie has taken home the award.

Dual Rookie ExcitementIt’s only natural that the rookies feel generally excited about Sunday’s game — after all, six of them have been in starting roles, sometimes at different positions.
But for Josh Bell and Spencer Larsen, it’s a little different this week.
Bell, an undrafted rookie out of Baylor, started the first game of his career last week in Atlanta opposite Dre’ Bly.
This week, with the odds even better that Champ Bailey will resume his spot in the starting lineup, Bell could play at nickelback. If that’s the case, he’s looking forward to being on the field with both Bailey and Bly, two of the best in the business.
“I’ve been looking up to Dre’ Bly for a while, since he was at Carolina, watching him when I was back in high school,” Bell said. “Then Champ being one of the best, if I can get my little brothers and my family to see me with those two, and I’m good enough to be there, it’s going to be a great thing. I’m going to cherish the moment.”
No Need For Extra Motivation
Bulletin Board Material for Sunday? Err…Thursday?
Browns Head Coach Romeo Crennel told the media earlier this week, “We’re not throwing in the towel, we’re not giving up on the season, we’re going to beat Denver, and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Brandon Stokley said it didn’t bother him, and that he doesn’t need that type of motivation to get up for a big game, regardless of what day of the week it comes.
“They have the midset that they’re going to beat us, and we’re going to beat them — that’s our mindset,” he said. “It doesn’t matter what they say. It just really comes down to who goes out there and plays better football on Sunday.”
It only took a second for Stokley to remember. “Thursday,” he said with a laugh. “Habit.”
Dre’ Bly agreed, saying bulletin board material like that doesn’t make as big an impact as some people may think.
“It’s motivation, but if you don’t think you’re going to win the game you don’t need to be out here — you don’t need to be playing, you don’t need to be in this league,” he said. “You’re supposed to go out with a swagger and go out there with confidence. Just because he publicized it, it’s no big deal to me.”
Disregarding RecordsThe Broncos have the Jacksonville Jaguars on tap for this weekend. The Jags come to Denver with a 2-3 record on the season but the Broncos know that Jacksonville has played all five of its opponents close this season. Denver realizes that it is up against a talented football team, regardless of what its record may be coming in.
“The average fan looks at them and they see a 2-3 record and they don’t see the football team,” Head Coach Mike Shanahan said. “That’s usually indicative of most people. You are looking at the record and not how they have been playing. Our football team is well aware of that and we will be ready to play.”
Scheffler and Young OutOn Wednesday Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced that Tony Scheffler and Selvin Young will be out against Jacksonville.
Scheffler and Young each suffered left groin strains in the Broncos 16-13 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Eddie Royal, who suffered an ankle sprain against the Buccaneers, should not miss much practice time with his injury and could be available on Sunday.
According to Shanahan both Young and Scheffler should be ready for the team’s Monday Night Football game against New England in two weeks.
Royal and Ebenezer Ekuban were not scheduled to participate in drills on Wednesday but should practice on Thursday. According to Shanahan both players are probable for Jacksonville.

Training Camp: The Last PracticeThe day players have been waiting for is here. Training camp is now over.
With cloudy skies and pouring rain, the Broncos held their last practice of training camp, a 45-minute jog-through, in the South Suburban Sports Dome in Dove Valley. Wearing shorts, jerseys and helmets, the team went through a few series offensive and defensive plays as they finalize their gameplan for Saturday’s preseason game against the Cowboys.
Considering the short duration and nature of practice, there was not near as much action as is typical of a morning camp session, especially after the last two days with the Cowboys. But here are a few quick hits…

Cowboys at Camp: Final PracticeThe Broncos and Cowboys closed out their joint practices Thursday afternoon with some 11-on-11 team drills between the offenses and defenses, and a little special teams in between. After a morning that featured a bit of a scuffle, the afternoon session was filled with nothing but good, clean football — and the occasional offensive fireworks — as Broncos President and CEO Pat Bowlen and Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones stood and watched practice side-by-side.
ATTENDANCE REPORT: The Broncos who were out of pads for the morning session also were for the afternoon session…In addition, the usual pack of veterans did not participate in the practice, including Dre’ Bly, Dewayne Robertson, Brandon Stokley and Darrell Jackson.
POSTURING FOR POSITION: Michael Pittman — who celebrated his birthday today — was the running back in the lineup on most situational third-downs.
MATCHUPS: For the final session of their joint practice, the Cowboys and Broncos went into 11-on-11 team matchups right after their individual team drills. Here are the details.
Cowboys at Camp: Day 2, AMThe competitive juices were flowing as Broncos and Cowboys hit the practice field together for the second straight day on Thursday. Hard hits and big plays were abound and a skirmish between the two squads showed that neither team is taking their time out on the field together lightly.
ATTENDANCE REPORT: Boss and Champ Bailey remained out of pads with their respective injuries, Boss nursing a sprained right ankle and Champ as sore right hamstring…Louis Green remained on the sidelines with a concussion/neck injury…Tom Nalen watched practices still resting his left knee…Erik Pears was out of pads with a sore back…Ryan Torain continues to recover from surgery on his left elbow.
POSTURING FOR POSITION: Niko Koutouvides continued to take reps at middle linebacker with first team. Jamie Winborn continued to fill in for Boss Bailey at first unit strong side linebacker. Marquand Manuel continued taking first unit snaps at safety with Hamza Abdullah getting reps with the second team. After getting the afternoon off yesterday, Casey Wiegmann was back as the first unit center.
