Cosby Joins Receiving Corps

The Broncos on Tuesday signed wide receiver Quan Cosby, waiving running back Jeremiah Johnson to make room for the move.

The club also signed tight end John Nalbone to the practice squad. Nalbone saw action in two games with Miami in 2010 before finishing the year on Denver’s practice squad.

Since joining the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009 as a college free agent, Cosby played in all 32 possible games, averaging 10.0 yards over two seasons as the team’s No. 1 punt returner.

In those two seasons as a key special teams contributor, Cosby handled 110 punt return opportunities — 70 returns and 40 fair catches — without a lost muff or fumble.

In 2010, his 10 special teams tackles ranked third on the team for Cincinnati.

He has also caught six passes for 71 yards in his career, three of which resulted in first downs.

The 5-foot-9, 190-pound former University of Texas standout is now the sixth wide receiver on the roster. The Broncos were down to two healthy receivers in Sunday’s 24-22 win against the Cincinnati Bengals.
