Broncos at Cardinals: Pregame Blog

December 12th, 2010 - 12:01pm by Eric DetweilerOther posts by

Even with sunny skies on a warm Arizona afternoon, the roof is closed at University of Phoenix Stadium with the Broncos preparing to play the Cardinals in a Week 14 showdown. Today will mark Interim Head Coach Eric Studesville’s head coaching debut.

Both teams enter the contest at 3-9, hoping for a momentum boost down the stretch. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. MST.

11:59 a.m. MST: The Broncos have recently released a statement on Perrish Cox’s availability today. The cornerback will play but not start against the Cardinals. The full statement is available here.

You can smell the barbecue smoke wafting from the parking lot as you enter Arrowhead Stadium this morning. The tailgaters came out in full force to greet the Broncos on the way in.

It’s cold enough to see your breath in front of you, and one player is already on the field warming up.

Broncos vs. Rams: Pregame Blog

Hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving weekend. I feel like I don’t want to even look at turkey for a whole year.

Here we are at INVESCO Field at Mile High, where players from both teams are on the field warming up for the Week 12 matchup between the Broncos and Rams.

The Broncos will wear their all-blue uniform — blue pants and blue jersey — for the first time this season. It looks like Ryan Harris, Perrish Cox, Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney Tim Tebow and Britton Colquitt are among the Broncos warming up on a chilly day. And there’s Robert Ayers, stretching with his headphones on and going through his warmups.

12:55 p.m. MST: Here are the inactives for today’s game. Andre’ Goodman, Laurence Maroney, Darcel McBath, Stanley Daniels, Eric Olsen, Demaryius Thomas and David Veikune will not suit up for the contest. Brady Quinn is listed as the third quarterback.

For the Rams, SS Michael Lewisers, CB Kevin Dockery, CB Quincy Butler, FB Mike Karney, G John Greco, TE Derek Schouman, DE Eugene Sims and DT Jermelle Cudjo are inactive.

Broncos at Chargers: Pregame Blog

The last time the Broncos had a road game, they made the long trip to London’s Wembley Stadium. Tonight in San Diego the team will try to build off the momentum from last week’s 49-29 victory against the Chiefs.

Denver’s AFC West record is 1-1, and a win tonight on Monday Night Football against the Chargers would even the team’s overall record with San Diego.

It seems like it’s been about a month since we’ve been in the press box at INVESCO Field at Mile High. In truth, with the trip to London followed by the bye week, it’s been three weeks — pretty close.

As Ryan Harris said earlier this week, it seems like a fresh start for the club, with five of the final eight games coming against AFC West opponents.

Those divisional games start this afternoon with the Kansas City Chiefs in town. About two hours prior to kickoff, a handful of Broncos are on the field warming up for the contest, including Tim Tebow, Eric Decker, Syd’Quan Thompson, Brandon Lloyd, Perrish Cox and Stanley Daniels.

We’ll have some pregame photos from a slightly chilly field shortly. Most players are sporting long sleeves.

Broncos vs. 49ers: Pregame Blog

Good afternoon from London’s Wembley Stadium. The crowd is piling into the stadium in a myriad of different jerseys. The contest between the Broncos and the 49ers is almost like an International NFL convention with jerseys from all 32 team represented in the crowd.

With this being a 49ers home game, the majority of the stadium signage and field marks are in support of the red and gold. Each seat at Wembley comes with a 49ers flag, but the Broncos are represented with a painted endzone and two floats.

We should have inactives very shortly as well as some pregame pictures from the field.

Broncos vs. Raiders: Pregame Blog

The first AFC West game of the season is upon us, and the field is relatively empty a little less than three hours until kickoff. A handful of Raiders are jogging around the sidelines, but the only Bronco on the field at the moment is Lonie Paxton.

A quick note on divisional openers — the Broncos have won their last 10. Four of those 10 came against Oakland, with the Broncos winning by a combined score of 120-61.

12:17 p.m. MDT: Tim Tebow is talking with former Florida teammate Louis Murphy at midfield right now — meanwhile, fellow former Gator Riley Cooper just scored a touchdown for the Eagles, and it’s being shown on the big screen.

12:42 p.m. MDT: Eddie Royal is on the field catching passes from Wide Receivers Coach Adam Gase. Royal is listed as questionable for the game.

Royal is the only player remaining on the field, just about an hour and 20 minutes prior to kickoff. Fans are starting to file into their seats.

12:56 p.m. MDT: Just received the Broncos’ inactives: Brian Dawkins, Andre’ Goodman, Darcel McBath, Robert Ayers, Wesley Woodyard, Eric Olsen and Chris Clark will not suit up for today’s game. Brady Quinn is the third quarterback.

For the Raiders, Bruce Gradkowski will be the third quarterback — reports are that Jason Campbell will get the start. Walter McFadden, Jeremy Ware, Travis Goethel, Thomas Howard, John Henderson, Chaz Schilens and Brandon Myers are inactive.

Broncos vs. Jets: Pregame Blog

October 17th, 2010 - 12:33pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

Week 6 is upon us, and as the NFL Redzone channel is flashing on the Thundervision screen above the field, players for the Broncos and Jets are warming up for the 2:05 p.m. MDT clash.

A roster move to announce — the team has elevated safety Kyle McCarthy and linebacker Kevin Alexander to the active roster from the practice squad. To make room for the move, the club waived offensive lineman D’Anthony Batiste and running back Andre Brown. The moves come in anticipation of a contest in which the Broncos will be without Brian Dawkins and Robert Ayers — two of five defensive players out for the game.

A change for this week’s home game — the end zone is painted with all orange diamonds. A Broncos logo adorns midfield, and a pink ribbon celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month adorns both 25-yard lines.

Robert Ayers is on the field — but the only other Broncos warming up at the moment are returners. Syd’Quan Thompson, Eddie Royal and Perrish Cox are visible from up in the press box.

Jets special teamers Nick Folk, Steve Weatherford and Tanner Purdum are on the field in full uniform — the Jets will be wearing their all-whites this afternoon. The Broncos, as you may have heard, will don their orange alternate jerseys as part of “Orange Sunday.” Fans are encouraged to wear orange today — and the fans who have made their way into the stadium already seem to be following that charge. So if you’re at home to watch the game, go ahead and throw on some orange and be part of this movement.

12:37 p.m. MDT: Jets PR just announced that Darrelle Revis will be active for today’s game.

Broncos at Ravens: Pregame Blog

It’s a bright, sunny morning at M&T Bank Stadium, and the Broncos (2-2) are readying to meet the Baltimore Ravens (3-1).

Several Broncos are already on the field going through stretching, and Britton Colquitt is hitting punts.

Fans haven’t yet started filling the stadium’s purple seats, but the kickoff for the Broncos’ Week 5 contest is fast approaching.

Keep following this blog for updates as the 1 p.m. EDT (11 a.m. MDT) kickoff nears.

11:28 a.m. EDT: Justin Bannan, who played the last four seasons in Baltimore, has greeted a steady stream of former teammates and coaches as he goes through his stretching.

Two of the first to stop for a chat were Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh and former defensive linemate Kelly Gregg.

On an overcast day in Nashville, Tenn., the Broncos are already on the field — most players donning pink cleats and gloves for breast cancer awareness — preparing for a Week 4 battle with the Titans.

Eddie Royal, Perrish Cox, Cassius Vaughn and Syd’Quan Thompson are fielding punts — with a twist. Britton Colquitt isn’t yet on the field, so the players are taking turns throwing the ball high in the air while another prepares to catch it.

Eric Decker is catching passes from Brady Quinn and Dan Gronkowski is running routes with Tim Tebow. A handful of offensive and defensive linemen are stretching in the end zone as more and more players head onto the field.

10:50 a.m. CDT: Just got the inactives for today’s game — Andre’ Goodman, Spencer Larsen, Knowshon Moreno, Wesley Woodyard, Eric Olsen, Chris Clark and Richard Quinn will not suit up for today’s game. Brady Quinn is the third quarterback. Below are some pictures from the field, courtesy of Gabe Hiatt.
