One of the newest sights here at the stadium is another retro end-zone design. Today’s look is a pattern of alternating blue and orange diamonds. The previous two home games sported white diamonds, which were from the early 1960s.

12:06 p.m. MST: Two of the first players out of the field for the Broncos happen to be quarterbacks. Chris Simms and Tom Brandstater have come out of the tunnel and are working on 10 to 15-yard throws with the coaching staff.

This afternoon fans in attendance and those watching from home will notice an abundance of pink throughout the game, as both teams are taking part in the NFL’s Breast Cancer Awareness Inititaive.

In collaboration with the league-wide campaign, the Broncos have a number of items planned to publicize the national cause during today’s game. Pink breast cancer awareness ribbons have been stenciled onto both sidelines, and the foam supports on both goal posts are pink. A number of players are expected to sport pink wristbands and gloves, and a few are expected to take to the field donning pink cleats. We’ll keep you posted as players head out of the tunnel.

Here we are at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, and there is still a baseball infield that takes up most of the field. Nothing is painted in the end zone or at the 50-yard line, as the Oakland Athletics’ season isn’t quite over.

Lots of players warming up on the field, and it is hot and fairly humid here in Oakland. Looks like a clock is counting down on the scoreboard until the stands open for fans — just about 20 minutes left until The Black Hole starts to fill up.

Hello from Paul Brown Stadium on the banks of the Ohio River, near the beautiful state of Kentucky (sorry had to give some props to my home for many years). We will keep you updated throughout the day on the latest as the Broncos kick off the 2009 campaign for real. You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook throughout the game.

It was interesting walking into the stadium this morning as we saw several familiar faces from this season’s “Hard Knocks” on HBO. Seems as though Chad Ochocinco’s catch-phrases are a hit amongst t-shirt makers. Dozens of “Kiss the Baby” and “Child Please” shirts were seen across the city as the buses pulled in.
