All NFL Teams 0-0

February 27th, 2008 - 10:20am by jim_saccomanoOther posts by

As we sit on the advent of free agency once again, as well as just a couple of months from the annual college draft, everybody has the excitement of being 0-0.

Every team has to live with what it most recently did, and for the Broncos that means the sour taste of a disappointing 7-9 season.  For the Giants, it means being on national late night TV shows and basking in the glow of a world championship, as well they should.

But the one hunk of knowledge that every NFL coach and personnel man knows is that yesterday’s accomplishments, or failures, should be studied, evaluated, learned from, put proudly on a shelf if it is a trophy — but then you have to move on to the new season.

Paying It Forward

February 26th, 2008 - 6:18pm by domonique_foxworthOther posts by

First I would like to start off by sending my condolences to onechocolateqt; I read in the responses that she just lost her mother. I remember meeting onechocolateqt at an autograph signing that I had in Cherry Creek and she was just wonderful. I think she was on her way to visit her mom at the time and as a friend I wanted to pass on my condolences first of all.

Also, in reading the responses I just wanted to thank everybody for the personal support that they gave me. It is really reassuring to know that my hard work gets recognized by the fans if nobody else. That is who we play for and it is the reason that we works so hard. So I do appreciate your support.

I did read the negative post and I must say it takes a big person to admit when they are wrong and it takes a brave person to say what he said initially on my blog. So I commend the man on both counts. But it is part of the job taking criticism, so it didn’t hurt my feelings nearly as much as the positive words he followed up with made me feel good. So I appreciate all the responses, the good and the bad. But definitely the good a little more.

‘A Little Jealous’

February 12th, 2008 - 4:51pm by domonique_foxworthOther posts by

Well I guess the Super Bowl is a good place to start. It was an extremely entertaining game. I enjoyed it and it was fun to watch, although the commercials were a bit of a let down this year. I think the stain talking on the shirt was my favorite; I got a real good laugh out of it.

But the game was very entertaining which was more important. I hate seeing a blowout in the Super Bowl so it was a fun game to watch and great to see that amazing play by David Tyree and Eli Manning that everyone has been talking about. I honestly felt a little sorry for the Patriots afterwards. Just seeing them get so close to a major mark in history and falling short. But then again I am no position to feel sorry for the Patriots. They had a great season despite falling short of history.

It was great to see two former teammates Domenik Hixon and Jeff Shoate be a part of the Giants. Anytime you spend that much time with guys — Hixon a year-and-a-half and Shoate was here as long as I was before leaving mid-season — you are happy to see them succeed. There is a little bit of jealousy to be honest. I definitely want to get a ring and those guys got sent off and landed into a great situation and are able to get a Super Bowl ring. I would say an extremely large percentage of players in this league never play in a Super Bowl, so I am proud of them and happy for them but a little jealous at the same time to be honest.

Offseason in Full Swing

January 10th, 2008 - 12:34pm by mark_cooperOther posts by

The offseason will be busy and we’ve already seen Coach Bates leave and Bob Slowik has the job. He’s been with the team since 2005, so that’s a positive. I don’t know a lot about him. I’m sure we’ll get to know him quickly.

Big playoff weekend coming up. My dark horse team is Jacksonville as much as I like the Patriots who aren’t playing like they were earlier in the year. I like Green Bay, the Cowboys even without T.O. and Indy. Yea, yea, I know I sound like a front-runner, right?

Let me know your thoughts and check in throughout the offseason and let’s keep in touch and I’ll give you my 2 cents worth and keep you up to speed on what I know and hear and you do the same.

Time to Rest, then Move Forward

January 2nd, 2008 - 9:28am by jim_saccomanoOther posts by

Mercifully, the 2007 season is over for the Denver Broncos players, coaches, administrators, and for one of the deepest fan bases in the National Football League.

When the season began to take on that disappointing glow which ultimately would mark it, the campaign became a lot less fun for the fans to watch.  It also became more difficult to work, because the frustration just mounts in direct correlation with wins and losses.

It is time now for all involved to take a deep breath, relax a bit, and then slowly ease into the new year.

New Year, New Season

January 1st, 2008 - 9:51pm by domonique_foxworthOther posts by

Season’s over and the year’s over also.

It’s been an eventful year for us. Ups and downs and a lot of challenges. We obviously didn’t get to where we were expected to go. Didn’t fulfill all of our goals and maximize our talent this year. I think this is a time right now right after the season to reflect on our own individual performances and performance as a team.

That being said, I personally recognize that there’s things that I need to work on going into next season. It’s important to be really critical of yourselves right now when things haven’t gone well.

The Curtain Comes Down On The 2007 Season

December 30th, 2007 - 9:14pm by mike_riceOther posts by

The 2007 season is in the books. It wasn’t the kind of year the Broncos wanted, and one can safely predict there will be changes.

It will be interesting to see what changes are made. Assuming there are some, one would expect the first ones would come to the coaching staff. Then beginning with free agency, the roster will be subject to microscopic evaluation.

I wish I could predict what will happen to the coaching staff. But I just don’t know what Coach Shanahan might or might not do. When a defense gives up 409 points, tied for the fourth most in Broncos’ history, it doesn’t take a genius to say that something has to get better.

At the same time, for as well as the Broncos moved the football, they didn’t do as well scoring points. So clearly the offense needs to make more strides, too.

Happy Holidays

December 25th, 2007 - 6:11am by domonique_foxworthOther posts by

Happy Holidays to everyone.

I wish everybody a happy and fun and safe holiday season. I will keep it short since it is the holiday season and I don’t want to take up everybody’s time.

Hopefully you’ll be able to spend it with your family making good holiday memories. I have a lot of great holiday memories myself. I remember being a kid trying to sneak down to open the presents before Christmas and always getting caught. Those were the good old days. Christmas doesn’t quite have the same excitement as it did back then but it’s still a lot of fun. I still enjoy the season.

The Offseason

May 9th, 2007 - 10:49am by domonique_foxworthOther posts by

It’s very exciting to be embarking on the preliminary stages of a new season. We brought in a lot of new players who will add a lot to the team, and we’re excited about getting into this mini camp and starting to work together.

I think a lot of people don’t understand how much goes into our jobs, and how many people around here — not including us — are working towards making us better, like the training staff and the equipment guys and strength coaches and everybody upstairs. It’s a lot of people.
