Broncos Blog Scoring Contest: Final Standings

January 25th, 2013 - 10:13am by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

Well, bloggers, the season has come to a close. And so has the scoring contest.

Congratulations to this year’s champion — The Dane.

Tied for second place thanks to Week 17 results were Wolfedom and baylinorcrush.

In third were Dbroncos82, strandoftds82 and Jake.

As promised, there will be prizes for first, second and third place. I aplogize for the delay in posting — wanted to make sure we got the prizes locked up.

The Dane will receive a Broncos helmet autographed by linebacker Von Miller. Wolfedom and baylinorcrush will each receive an authentic Peyton Manning jersey. Dbroncos82, strandoftds82 and Jake will all three receive a Broncos prize pack, including apparel, a cheerleader calendar and other memorabilia.

In checking the results from Week 17 (I apologize for not publishing those earlier) and the Divisional Round, I discovered something unfortunate — apparently somehow the ability to predict scores was cut off on Jan. 1. That was an error on our part, and resulted in no predictions for the playoffs.

I sincerely apologize, and that will be sorted out for next year.

Let’s get to the Week 17 results.

In the regular-season finale, the Broncos defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 38-3. Daddybronc took home first place points with his prediction of 38-9, raindodger and baylinorcrush came in second place and Wolfedom and Keith Kahler came in third.

Without further ado, we’ll get to the full, final standings. Once again, congratulations to this season’s champ, The Dane, and the other winners.

Broncos Blog Scoring Contest: Week 17

December 27th, 2012 - 12:16pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

The Official Broncos Blog Scoring Contest will continue into the playoffs due to popular demand, but here’s a look at the standings entering the final week of the regular season.

Things are tightening up near the top, though The Dane still holds the overall lead in the contest.

In Week 16, the Broncos defeated the Cleveland Browns 34-12. There were a lot of great predictions — 27 bloggers were within single digits of the actual score. But only five are taking home points for the week.

Wolfedom and alex4serg tied for first place as both were only one point away from the actual score with predictions of 34-13 and 35-12, respectively. In second were Andyboy31 and tnalen66, who were both two points off from the real score by guessing 34-14 and 33-13, respectively. Jake rounds it out in third with his prediction of 35-10.

UPDATE: My apologies to killerkod, who predicted 35-13 and therefore also receives second-place points since he was only two points off the actual score. He’s now in 11th place with 12 points on the season.

Before we get to the standings, make sure you get your predictions in for this Sunday’s regular-season finale versus Kansas City here. They’ll be accepted all the way up to the scheduled 2:25 p.m. MST kickoff.

Broncos Blog Scoring Contest: Week 16

On Sunday, the Broncos defeated the Baltimore Ravens 34-17. And we had a perfect score submitted in the blogger contest.

In first place was lilbean16, who was right on the nose with a 34-17 prediction. Three bloggers tied for second, all of whom guessed 31-17 — Andyboy31, Anthony Trujillo and wigdo. Steven and DenverCB took home third-place points after predictions that were just four total points off — 34-21 and 30-17, respectively.

Before we get to the standings, make sure you get your predictions in for this Sunday’s game versus Cleveland here. They’ll be accepted all the way up to the scheduled 2:05 p.m. MST kickoff.

Broncos Blog Scoring Contest: Week 15

December 11th, 2012 - 2:03pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

Last Thursday, the Broncos defeated the Oakland Raiders 26-13, and bloggers continued to provide great predictions for the score.

In first place was killerkod, who was off by just one total point with his prediction of 27-13. In second place was Ginandy2009, who guessed 28-14, and sndvl takes home third place with his prediction of 27-17.

Before we get to the standings, make sure you get your predictions in for this Sunday’s game at Baltimore here. They’ll be accepted all the way up to the scheduled 11 a.m. MST kickoff.

Quick question, by the way — would you all like for this contest to continue on to any Broncos playoff games? Or should the contest be called at the end of the regular season? I’d imagine this would go into the postseason, just wanted to check for a consensus.

Broncos Blog Scoring Contest: Week 14

December 5th, 2012 - 1:36pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a first.

Two bloggers predicted the exact score of the Broncos’ 31-23 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13.

Congratulations to Thomas P and footballMANIAC, who take home first-place points.

The Dane, however, increased his lead in the overall standings by taking home second-place points. He tied with Daddybronc and ScptheChiefs, all three of whom predicted a score of 31-24, just one point off the actual tally.

In third place was miro30, whose guess of 33-23 was only two points off the actual score.

Before we get to the standings, make sure you get your predictions in for this Thursday’s game against Oakland here. There’s less time to get in predictions, obviously, so be sure to get them in prior to the scheduled 6:20 p.m. MST kickoff.

Broncos Blog Scoring Contest: Week 13

November 27th, 2012 - 4:02pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

For the fifth straight week, everyone with a scoring prediction has picked the Broncos to win. It seems to be a good strategy.

Just to recap, the Broncos defeated the Chiefs 17-9. No one was particularly close this week, but Jake came in first with his prediction of 25-10 — nine points off the actual score.

Oldsouthstander takes home second place, 10 points off with his guess of 27-9. Still1972 gets third-place points with his 28-7 prediction — 13 points off the actual score.

Before we get to the standings, make sure you get your predictions in for this Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay here.

Broncos Blog Scoring Contest: Week 12

November 22nd, 2012 - 12:23pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. And a special shoutout to The Dane, who predicted the first perfect score of the season.

Quick refresher — the Broncos defeated the San Diego Chargers 30-23 last Sunday. Everyone was clearly pretty optimistic about that victory, as every single prediction had the Broncos winning.

It just so happened that The Dane’s prediction was spot on. He takes home first-place points, extending his overall lead in the contest. In second was tnalen66, who was only off by one with his guess of 29-23. Two bloggers tied for third, as both were only two points off — Daddybronc and Orange_Crusher.

Make sure you get your predictions in for this Sunday’s game against Kansas City here.

My apologies for the late posting this week, but make sure you get your predictions in for this Sunday’s game against San Diego here.

A lot of good guesses for last week’s win at Carolina, as three bloggers tied for first-place points.

Denver won 36-14, and broncsbomber66, broncofaninIL and MatthewConnen were all just two total points off the correct score with predictions of 35-13, 37-13 and 37-13, respectively.

In second place were Dbroncos82, Anthony Trujillo and Yaya, who were just three points off from the actual score. Four more players tied for third place, all just four points off the score — DaddyBronc, Wolfedom, RH709 and tlcat06.

Again, predictions for this week’s game vs. San Diego are still being accepted up until kickoff on Sunday. They can be submitted here.

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Let’s keep this thing going!

A lot of great guesses this week, and apparently great minds think alike, because five people guessed 31-20 and six went with 31-17.

But for a refresher, the Broncos defeated the Bengals in Week 9 by a score of 31-23, so one blogger stood alone at the top of the leaderboard this week — Thomas P, who predicted a final score of 31-21.

In second place were Dbroncos82, strandoftds82, still1972, footballMANIAC and The Dane. Third-place points go to TicoBroncoFan, Miller Time 58, broncsbomber66, BroncoBoogie, Ginandy2009 and baylinorcrush.

Predictions for this week’s game in Carolina are already being accepted, and will be up until kickoff on Sunday. They can be submitted here.

Broncos Blog Scoring Contest: Week 9

October 29th, 2012 - 11:32am by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

There were a whole lot of good guesses before last Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

Quick refresher — the Broncos defeated the Saints 34-14.

In first place with a prediction of 32-14 was Jessie, who takes home seven points.

Three players were just six points off from the actual score — Andyboy31, Wolfedom, BoyXjslv — who take home second-place points.

For the record, a handful of bloggers submitted multiple predictions. Please don’t do that going forward, but in the event it happens, only the first prediction submitted will be accepted.

350legend was seven points off, and takes home third place honors.

Predictions for next week’s game in Cincinnati will be accepted starting at noon MDT tomorrow, and can be submitted here.

Below are the updated standings entering Week 9:
