More Magic against the “Saints”

September 22nd, 2008 - 9:57am by mark_cooperOther posts by

The Magic is back!!!

Bend-don’t-break defense comes up big with a goal line stance and a “DJ” stop on 3rd and short to make for a missed field goal….wide right!!

Whew, I may need some stress medication or something this season. How much fun are these games to watch?? So we asked for it and we got it this off-season with firepower and receivers catching the ball all over the field. Like they say “Be careful what you ask for” we got it!!

So, how many of you got up to get something in the kitchen and missed a score or a big play?

I replied late last week on your “Bolts” responses and that was fun so in case you missed anything check back on the Bolts comments because you all were pretty funny last week and fun to reply to.

369 total yards this week to 502 for the “Aints”…that number worries me as weeks to come we’ll see some defenses that could hold us down and the nature of the game is that there will be weeks where things just don’t click.

K.C. 0-3 with 12 consecutive losses…hmm took one on the chin from Atlanta this weekend. These opponents scare coaches to death because they are afraid of a let down or players looking past these types of opponents and in the NFL that can cost you a game.

“Beauty and the Beast” still stands and I’m glad Schefflers back in the mix….we might need a nic name for him???

Familiar Face, Unfamilar Team

The Broncos will play the Saints on Sunday for the first time in four seasons, and although the team that steps on the field at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Sunday is an unfamiliar opponent, the man under center is not.

Current Saints quarterback Drew Brees was the signal caller for the rival San Diego Chargers for five seasons from 2001-2005.

Entirely Focused

September 18th, 2008 - 4:14pm by Adam ZinserOther posts by

It was fairly quiet in the locker room at Dove Valley on Thursday. Though many players did speak with reporters, just as many sat at their lockers, staring straight ahead as if in a trance. Why? Because they’re focused.

And with good reason.

At this time last year, the Broncos sat at 2-0 after two thrilling late field goals gave them victories over the Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders. Yet when the season came to a close, they weren’t where they wanted to be — the playoffs.

So now in 2008, the Broncos sit at 2-0 once again, and they want to make sure that they reach their final destination this time.

Not Neglecting New Orleans

September 17th, 2008 - 7:30pm by Jake GrilleyOther posts by

The Broncos have been the talk of the NFL this week. From Coach Shanahan’s decision to go for two, to Brandon Marshall 18 receptions, Jay Cutler’s NFL-best 650 passing yards, and the emergence of first-year receiver Eddie Royal. The Broncos have captured themselves some attention.

Head Coach Mike Shanahan was quick to warn his players about basking in early season successes.

Opening Night: Music, Fireworks, Loud Noises … and a Game

September 6th, 2007 - 4:39pm by AndrewOther posts by

Ah opening night.

A nationally-televised concert, fireworks … and, oh, yeah, there’s some football too. Pretty fair matchup.

I guess we’ve come a long way from when halftime shows meant calling up the university band whose team had a road game within two hours’ drive and asking whether they wanted to come down and perform a halftime tune or two.

Let’s see … they’ve got John Mellencamp, Faith Hill, Kelly Clarkson and Hinder. I know the first two; rather like Mellancamp, actually. Plenty of his stuff in the Morsels’ iPod. Clarkson? Can’t recall a song she’s sung; just know that she’s got a good voice, she’s cute and she probably wants to slap you if you remind her of her performance in From Justin to Kelly, which I think was seen by fewer people than your average rec-league slow-pitch softball game.

Then there’s Hinder. What in God’s name is Hinder?

It’s a band, moron. Here’s the Wikipedia link.

Wrong, it’s a verb. (And as Robert Goulet once said of Tim Duncan’s surname, it’s a “baaaaad verb.”) It can also be an adjective.
