The Broncos send their condolences to the family of former Broncos defensive back Lonnie Wright who has passed away at the age of 67.

Wright played 26 games in his two seasons with the Broncos (1966-67). He intercepted five passes and recovered four fumbles, while also catching one pass during his career with the team. He posted interceptions in three consecutive games during the 1967 season, including a two-interception performance at Miami on Sept. 17, 1967.

In addition to his time with the Broncos, Wright played four seasons (1967-70) with the Denver Rockets of the American Basketball Association and played his college career at Colorado State University.

“I took two weeks off after the football season,” Wright told the Denver Post for a story in 2007. “After playing six or seven games with the Rockets, I was in the starting lineup. By the end of the basketball season, my legs were really tired.”
