The Broncos signed linebacker Johnny Williams on Thursday morning, waiving Nick Greisen to make room on the roster.
Williams, a former college free agent from Kentucky, spent last preseason with Jacksonville before signing onto Pittsburgh’s practice squad at the end last season. The Steelers waived the 24-year-old on July 30.
While at Kentucky — where he spent time in the same linebacking corps as new teammate Wesley Woodyard — Williams accumulated 131 tackles in 49 career games.
The 6-foot-2, 246-pound linebacker is expected on the field for today’s 2:30 p.m. practice at Dove Valley. He will wear No. 54.
