Fox on First Road Trip

September 15th, 2012 - 1:56pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

Head Coach John Fox is plenty familiar with the Atlanta Falcons. After all, he played them twice a year as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers from 2002 to 2010.

“It’s a unique place,” he said of the Georgia Dome. “A divisional rivalry for me for nine years. I’ve seen them change as far as quarterbacks and types of offenses over the years. It’s nice to get back. It’s a good organization. Nice people in the organization. It’ll be good visiting.”

As for the game at hand, Fox said that every week is a tough game, but Monday is the first chance the Broncos have to show what they can do away from the friendly confines of Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

“It’s our first road trip of 2012,” he said, “so I’m anxious to see how we react.”

INJURY REPORT

For the Broncos, only guard Chris Kuper is listed as out for the game. Cornerback Chris Harris and guard/center Philip Blake are listed as questionable, while wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and guard Manny Ramirez are both probable.

Falcons Week: Friday Injury Report

September 14th, 2012 - 2:02pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

On Friday, guard Chris Kuper (forearm) and cornerback Chris Harris (ankle) did not participate in practice for the second consecutive day. Guard Manny Ramirez (elbow) and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (shoulder) are listed on the injury report, but had full participation in the session for the second consecutive day.

As for Harris, Head Coach John Fox said: “Right now, he’s day-to-day. It’ll, I’m sure, be a game-time decision.”

If Harris can’t play, Fox expressed confidence in the rest of the position group.

“We’ve got good depth at the position,” he said. “Rather than spell out what we might do, we feel good about who we’d have out there.”

For the Atlanta Falcons, a new player was added to the injury report in tackle Tyson Clabo (hip), who was limited in practice on Friday. Linebacker Robert James (knee), linebacker Sean Weathersppon (hamstring) and wide receiver Roddy White (groin) were all limited in practice for the second consecutive day.

The Broncos’ injury report is available each week on DenverBroncos.com.

Broncos-Falcons Thursday Injury Report

Denver and Atlanta released their first injury reports of the week today.

For the Broncos, cornerback Chris Harris (ankle) and guard Chris Kuper (forearm) did not practice. Guard Manny Ramirez (elbow) and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (shoulder) were both listed as full.

Kuper continues to work back from his injury that was suffered during training camp. Harris’ injury was suffered during Denver’s season-opening win vs. Pittsburgh and Head Coach John Fox described the second-year cornerback as “day to day.”

“We’re concerned about all of them,” Fox said when asked about Harris’ injury. “He did not practice today. We’ll enlighten you tomorrow.”

For the Falcons, three players were listed as limited in practice today: linebacker Robert James (knee), linebacker Sean Weatherspoon (hamstring) and wide receiver Roddy White (groin).

Notebook: The Final Countdown

December 30th, 2011 - 2:46pm by Kenny LeganOther posts by

Today is the last Friday of the regular season. Thus, we are going to start things off with a quote from Head Coach John Fox about the team’s mindset heading into the finale against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I think four months ago if you would have told me we were going to be in the last regular season game of the season with a chance to get into the playoffs, I probably would have taken it and run,” Fox said. “We’ve got some unfinished business, and it’s all out there for the taking. Now we just have to go take it.”

FILLING BIG SHOES

It looks like everyone should be healthy and ready to go Sunday as all the players listed on the injury report are probable with one notable exception: safety Brian Dawkins.

Dawkins, who hasn’t practiced all week with a neck injury, is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s contest. Dawkins missed the entire New England game and most of the Buffalo game with an injury, meaning that for the third straight game, Denver is most likely going to be without its most experienced player.

Broncos Depart for Buffalo

December 22nd, 2011 - 1:36pm by Kenny LeganOther posts by

With up to a foot of snow accumulating in the past 24 hours, the Denver Broncos practiced inside Thursday before departing to Buffalo.

The team used the half-field turf surface behind the weight room. However, the close quarters wasn’t an issue as the team was able to run through its practice.

“It wasn’t bad, similar to the place I have used in the past with another team,” Head Coach John Fox said. “I thought we got our work done, and didn’t risk injury going out in the snow covered field. I think we got done what we get done on an in-season type Friday practice.”

Notebook: Getting Off to a Fast Start

December 14th, 2011 - 5:40pm by Kenny LeganOther posts by

The Broncos have made a living recently late in games. During their six-game winning streak, Denver was trailing in the fourth quarter in four of those games.

“We’ve been involved in some comebacks that were in the fourth quarter,” Head Coach John Fox said. “It wasn’t like we designed it that way. A lot of these games are won and lost in the fourth quarter.”

Many players and coaches will point out that it’s more about how you finish games than start them, and rightfully so. However, with the New England Patriots — who have scored at least 31 points in each of their last five games — coming to town this week, the Broncos know they might have to strike early and often.

“We came in today and our offensive coordinator (Mike McCoy) was saying we need to help our defense out more by scoring,” receiver Demaryius Thomas said. “Last week we had a couple chances to score, but we just missed some plays. I feel like as an offense we need to come out and play four whole quarters instead of just the fourth quarter.”
