NFL Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, the NFL is commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month. The Broncos will celebrate the month today with themed field banners, scoreboard graphics and PA announcements. The coin toss will feature a coin, which you can see above and below, that commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month. Painted logos on the 25-yard lines also depict the NFL’s Fútbol Americano insignia. Dan Sandos, President of Hispanic Annual Salute, will be recognized as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership award during pregame.

Earlier this week, the Broncos hosted Broncos en Español on Wednesday, an event that allowed members of the Hispanic community to visit with players and alumni at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The team has also launched Facebook.com/BroncosFanaticos, an official team Facebook page with information on promotions, contests and events, all in Spanish.

As part of the month’s festivities, the NFL and Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) have partnered for the second annual NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards. The awards recognize the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market. Each award recipient will be recognized in-stadium and will be able to select an organization serving the local Hispanic community to receive a $3,000 donation.
