NFL More Popular Than Ever

On the heels of one of the most-viewed NFL seasons in the league’s history, Harris Interactive released its poll that asked adults about their sports preferences.

Among adults who said that they follow at least one sport, 36 percent chose professional football as their favorite. Major League Baseball came in second at 13 percent. The gap between football and baseball widened, from 14 percentage points in the 2011 poll to 23 percentage points in this year’s survey. That 23-point gap is the largest disparity between the No. 1 and No. 2 sports since the poll’s inception in 1985. Professional football has been selected as the most popular sport in each year since the poll began.

Kickoff Week for 2010

Thursday night in New Orleans the 2010 National Football League season will kickoff, and it promises to be more and more of the game that America loves the most.

The annual Harris Poll once again shows that Americans list pro football as the favored sport in the land with 35 percent of those queried citing pro football for the top spot, and when you consider that college football is listed as the top sport for another 12 percent, that means that 47 percent of those polled by Harris like big time football more than any other sport.

Of course, for those of us who follow these polls closely year after year, this is not “new” news.
