McGahee Tops the 100-yard Mark

Running back Willis McGahee’s 24-yard touchdown run put him over the century mark on the ground for the sixth time this season, which ties for the most 100-yard games in the NFL this season. He now has 29 career 100-yard games, and has tied for the third-most 100-yard games in a season in Broncos history.

McGahee’s 59 career rushing touchdowns tie for the third most since he entered the league in 2004.

The ninth-year running back has 85 rushing yards thus far in the second half and 111 on the game.

Novak Misses FG

After Matt Prater knocked home a 41-yard field goal, the Chargers put together a drive to try to answer.

The drive was fueled by a 39-yard Ryan Mathews run, but the defense didn’t allow San Diego to capitalize, stopping Mike Tolbert after a 2-yard gain and forcing two Philip Rivers incompletions.

Nick Novak trotted out to attempt his third field goal of the day, but the 48-yarder was wide right, keeping the score at 13-10, Chargers.

The Broncos offense picks up at its own 38-yard line with 12:33 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Broncos Win 17-13

Tim Tebow engineered a 12-play, 95-yard touchdown drive in the final minutes to give the Broncos a 17-13 win over the Jets.

Tebow scrambled left for a 20-yard score to give Denver the late lead and the defense forced an incompletion as time expired to seal the victory.

The Broncos improve to 5-5 on the year with the win over the Jets.

Broncos Take Lead In Final Minute

UPDATE: Denver has taken the lead on a 20-yard touchdown run by Tim Tebow.

Tebow scrambled left on third-and-four as the Jets brought pressure and sprinted into the end zone to give the Broncos a 17-13 lead with just under a minute to go.

The Broncos started the drive at their own 5-yard line with 5:54 left. Tebow has led the Broncos threw the air and on the ground. He has 34 yards rushing on the drive and is 3-of-5 passing for 35 yards.

The two big plays on the drive are a third-and-1 rush by Tebow for a first down and an 18-yard completion to Dante Rosario to put them at the Jets 26-yard line.

McGahee Adds Another TD

Willis McGahee scored on a 24-yard touchdown run and the Broncos now lead 38-24 with 1:53 remaining in the game.

It’s McGahee’s second score on a day that’s been historically noteworthy for the Denver rushing attack.

The Broncos 297 rushing yards is good for the fourth highest single game total in franchise history.

Royal Punt Return Gives Broncos Lead

Eddie Royal returned a punt from Shane Lechler 85 yards to the end zone and the Broncos now lead 31-24 with just under six minutes left.

That’s Royal’s second career punt return touchdown and the fifth longest punt return in Broncos history.

Quan Cosby had returned all the previous punts in today’s game for Denver before Royal got his first opportunity late in the fourth quarter.

Pick-Six Extends Lions Lead

With the Broncos driving inside the Detroit 10-yard line, Detroit cornerback Chris Houston picked off a Tim Tebow pass in the end zone and returned it 100 yards down the sideline for a touchdown.

It’s the second defensive touchdown of the day for Detroit, and the Lions lead it 45-3 with 12:04 remaining in the game.

Broncos Recover Onside Kick

After Tebow’s touchdown throw to Thomas, the Broncos recovered the onside kick. A Miami player grabbed it in the air, but couldn’t hold on as he was hit and Virgil Green came up with the loose ball.

The Broncos take over at their own 44-yard line with 2:41 left to play, trailing 15-7.

Broncos on the Board

The Broncos march down the field and cut Miami’s lead to a one possession game. Tebow threw a five-yard scoring strike to Demaryius Thomas as the receiver made a diving catch at the front pylon.

The play was reviewed and upheld.

The touchdown catch was Thomas’ first of the year and just his second catch of the season. He recorded his first catch earlier on the drive, a 15-yard completion near the sideline.

Tebow kept the drive alive with his legs as well as his arm. He threw a 42-yard completion to Matt Willis over the middle to get the Broncos to the Dolphins’ 12-yard line, and a few plays later, Tebow scrambled for a 13-yard gain to set up the touchdown pass.

Miami Lead Now 15-0

Brian Dawkins’ second sack of the game forced a fourth down for Miami, and Dan Carpenter converted a 43-yard field goal to extend Miami’s lead to 15-0.

It was a nine-play, 50-yard drive that spanned 5:05 on the game clock.

The drive was kick-started by a spinning, one-handed catch by fullback/tight end Charles Clay. The rookie took the reception 29 yards up the sideline into Broncos territory.

It was the longest play from scrimmage for the game, and Denver is now set to field the kickoff with 7:34 remaining in the contest.
