Seven Broncos on H.O.F Preliminary List

On Saturday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the 131 players, coaches and contributors who make up the preliminary list of modern-era nominees for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2010.

Former Broncos’ Steve Atwater, Terrell Davis, Karl Mecklenburg, Michael Dean Perry, Dan Reeves, Shannon Sharpe and Louis Wright are among the names on the list.

From this preliminary list of modern-era nominees, Hall of Fame selectors will choose 25 candidates who will advance as semifinalist nominees. The list of 25 modern-era semifinalists will be announced on November 27.

Floyd Little

You had to be there back in the day to know how much Floyd Little meant to the Denver Broncos.

You had to see him, watch him, hear him to appreciate his play and his leadership.

He had a lot of things going against him at a young age, not a lot of money, family fighting to make it, and AFTER high school he went to a military school, Bordentown Academy, and he became not a man, but a man among men.

44 Reasons to Elect No. 44

In honor of Floyd Little being announced as a senior nominee for the 2010 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, we thought we’d publish the following list, compiled by Thomas Mackie, entitled “44 Reasons to Elect Floyd Little to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”

1 - Floyd Little retired in 1975 as the 7th All-Time Rusher in NFL History; players who were ranked 7th in 1980, ‘85, ‘90, ‘95, and 2000 were all elected to the HOF

2 - The 6 players ahead of Little (Jim Brown, O.J. Simpson, Jim Taylor, Joe Perry, Leroy Kelly and John Henry Johnson) have been in the HOF for years. Johnson, who rushed for just 480 more yards than Little, was inducted in 1987, even though it took him 4 more seasons to rush for more yards.
