Broncos vs. Falcons: First Quarter Notes

15:00: Jerious Norwood is back deep to return Prater’s kick and returns it to about the 20.

The Broncos starting defense takes the field. Starting is; Elvis Dumervil, Marcus Thomas, Dewayne Robertson, Ebenezer Ekuban, Dre’ Bly, Josh Bell, Marquand Manuel, Calvin Lowry, Wesley Woodyard, Jamie Winborn and starting at middle linebacker Spencer Larsen.

So a couple of surprises for the Broncos.

14:51: Matt Ryan’s first pass of the day falls incomplete to Roddy White… On second down Ryan looks for White again, but the ball is knocked down by Dre’ Bly.

Broncos vs. Browns: First Quarter Notes

15:00: Deep for the Broncos is Eddie Royal and Peyton Hillis with Phil Dawson kicking off for the Browns.

14:52: Royal gets the Broncos to the 38 yard line. First play, Jay Cutler finds Tony Scheffler down the middle for a 39-yard reception. Welcome back Tony.

14:00: The Broncos start with Jay Cutler, Tony Scheffler, Selvin Young, Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Daniel Graham, Ryan Harris, Chris Kuper, Casey Wiegmann, Ben Hamilton and Ryan Clady.

13:23: After an incompletion to Brandon Marshall, a 3-yard gain by Ryan Torain and Cutler throwing the ball away, the Broncos face fourth down.

13:23: Matt Prater’s 38-yard attempt is no good. The defense takes the field. Starting on defense: Ebenezer Ekuban, Dewayne Robertson, Marcus Thomas, Elvis Dumervil, Wesley Woodyard, Nate Webster, Jamie Winborn, Karl Paymah, Dre’ Bly, Marquand Manuel and Calvin Lowry

Broncos vs. Dolphins: First Quarter Notes

15:00: Chad Pennington called heads, and it was heads. The Dolphins elected to defer to the second half, so the Broncos will start with the ball.

Eddie Royal is deep for the Broncos, and Peyton Hillis is just ahead of him at about the nine-yard line. It’s a touchback to start the game.

15:00: Jay Cutler pitches the ball to Michael Pittman to start the game. Peyton Hillis is the starter at fullback. The rest of the starting lineup includes Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal at receiver, Daniel Graham at tight end, then the offensive line — Ryan Clady, Ben Hamilton, Casey Wiegmann, Chris Kuper and Ryan Harris.

13:40: Jay Cutler’s third-down pass is intercepted by a Dolphins defensive back, and Miami starts its first drive at the Denver 34-yard line.

The defensive starters are Dre’ Bly and Karl Paymah at corner, Marlon McCree and Marquand Manuel at the safety slots, D.J. Williams, Nate Webster and Jamie Winborn at linebacker and Elvis Dumervil, Dewayne Robertson, Marcus Thomas and Ebenezer Ekuban on the line.

11:38: The defense stops the Miami offense after three plays, but Dolphins kicker Dan Carpenter knocks down a 45-yard field goal to put Miami ahead of Denver early, 3-0.

11:34: Royal is back deep again, ready to return the kickoff. This one is returnable, and he does out to about the 23-yard line. Cutler and the offense are back on the field for another drive.

Broncos at Patriots: First Quarter Notes

15:00: The Broncos have been introduced, with a fair share of boos reigning down from the stands.

And now the fans get loud as their Patriots are introduced.

The captains head to the middle of the field for the coin toss. The Broncos call tails, and it’s heads. New England deferred to the second half, and so the Broncos will get the ball first.

15:00: Andre Hall is back deep for Denver. He fielded the kick just inside the endzone and carried it out to the 26 before being taken down.

Starting on offense for the Broncos: Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Casey Wiegmann, Ryan Harris, Ryan Clady, Chris Kuper, Ben Hamilton, Daniel Graham, Michael Pittman, Eddie Royal and Nate Jackson.

14:40: Cutler’s opening pass falls incomplete as he tries to hit Eddie Royal on a deep route. Cutler looked like he hurt his hand on the opening play, getting it stepped on by a Patriot.

Broncos vs. Jaguars: First Quarter Notes

15:00: The captains are at midfield, and the Jaguars call heads. It’s tails. The Broncos elect to receive, and we’re about to be underway.

15:00: After a touchback — Andre Hall and Peyton Hillis were back to return — the Broncos have a first-and-10 at their own 20. Jay Cutler drops back and finds Brandon Marshall on the first play of the game for a 16-yard gain — Marshall avoids some tacklers and weaves his way forward.

On the very next play, Marshall caught the ball again, this time for an 11-yard first down. Cutler follows that up by finding Marshall for a third play in a row for an 18-yard first down. The Broncos aren’t finding it too hard to find first downs right now.

Broncos vs. Buccaneers: First Quarter Notes

15:00: Matt Bryant kicks off to start the game, and Andre Hall takes it froma few yards deep, getting out to the 19, and that is where Jay Cutler and the Denver offense will start the game.

14:30: Selvin Young’s first run of the game goes for eight yards, and the Broncos have a third-and-two.

The stands are filled, and though there’s a 50-percent chance of rain, the skies remain clear.

Pittman leaped over a falling defender, trying to reach the first down, but he was hit hard by a Tampa Bay defender.

After a measurement, the ball is just short of the first-down marker.

Brett Kern will punt.

Broncos at Chiefs: First Quarter Notes

15:00: Prater kicks off to Jamaal Charles who returned it out to the 21-yard line from two-yards deep in the endzone.

But a hold on the Chiefs backs it up to the 11.

Starters on defense for the Broncos: Elvis Dumervil, Marcus Thomas, Kenny Peterson, John Engelberger, Nate Webster, D.J. Williams, Boss Bailey, Champ Bailey, Marlon McCree, Marquand Manuel and Dre’ Bly.

14:00: After an initial run went for just a couple yards, Larry Johnson burst up the middle for 65 yards, a career-long run.

12:40: Colby Smith carries the ball twice, gaining first six and then 3 yards. It’s third-and-one at the Denver 12.

Broncos vs. Saints: First Quarter Notes

15:00: Pierre Thomas and Usama Young are back to receive for the Saints. There’s definitely a lot of orange in the crowd — it’s a pretty cool environment here at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

15:00: Several Broncos get involved in a huge collision at the 14-yard line, First and 10 New Orleans.

John Engelberger, Dewayne Robertson, Marcus Thomas and Elvis Dumervil are the starters on the defensive line. Boss Bailey, Nate Webster and D.J. Williams are at the linebacker positions, and Champ Bailey, Dre’ Bly, Marquand Manuel and Marlon McCree round out the starters in the secondary.

14:51: Dre’ Bly gets the crowd involved, waving his arms. The first play of the game is an incomplete pass with Reggie Bush as the target on the sideline.

13:30: Ebenezer Ekuban gets involved with a seven-yard sack on third down to force a punt. Eddie Royal is back to receive, finds a hole and takes it just past midfield before he’s brought down at the Saints 45. It’s a 22-yard return.

Broncos vs. Chargers: First Quarter Notes

15:00: Andre Hall and Michael Pittman are back to receive the kickoff, and we’re underway. Hall takes a knee in the back of the endzone and the Broncos will start first-and-10 at their own 20. The starters are the same as introduced before the game, and Tony Scheffler joins the fray as the 11th starter.

15:00: Brandon Marshall starts the game fast as he takes a wide receiver screen pass and takes it nine yards, running into the ref in the middle of the field and giving the Chargers enough time to catch up for the tackle.

14:00: Cutler drops back and lets it fly to a wide open Scheffler for 24 yards. First down.

13:39: Cutler gets it to Marshall again and this time the receiver takes it for 11 yards and another first down. The Broncos offense is on a roll.

12:51: Scheffler catches the ball at his shoestrings and turns what looked like an incomplete pass into a five-yard gain. Second-and-5 on the San Diego 31-yard line.

12:18: After a false start penalty, it’s third-and-10 on the San Diego 36. Another false start penalty makes it third-and-15. Cutler drops back and tries to find Brandon Stokley in traffic — the pass falls incomplete and Brett Kern trots out to punt the ball away from the San Diego 41.

Broncos at Raiders: First Quarter Notes

15:00: Andre Hall is back to receive the kickoff. He brings it out to about the 25.

The starters on offense are Jay Cutler. Nate Jackson and Daniel Graham are in at tight end. Eddie Royal and Darrell Jackson are in at wide receiver. Selvin Young and Peyton Hillis are in the backfield. The offensive line is Ryan Clady, Ben Hamilton, Casey Wiegmann, Chris Kuper and Ryan Harris.

First play of the game is a reverse to Royal, and Cutler runs out for a block. Royal slips and gains two yards.

14:00: First down for the Broncos as Royal catches a pass out right and sprints his way past the marker.

13:00: Selvin Young forces his way forward for 7 yards on first down. Royal follows it up by lining up in the backfield and taking a pitch to the right for a first down. That’s two handoffs to Royal in the first few minutes of the game.

12:10: Selvin Young is wrapped up at the line of scrimmage, bringing up 3rd and 10 from the Oakland 44. The crowd is really into it. Cutler lines up in shotgun. Stokley goes in motion. he drops back and lets it loose to Brandon Stokley just past the marker and he catches it just before it hits the ground.
