For the second consecutive week, running back Knowshon Moreno topped the 100-yard mark in Sunday’s 34-17 win at Baltimore.
And once again, the fourth-year running back has been nominated for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.
Moreno carried 22 times for 118 yards with one touchdown against the Ravens to mark his fourth career 100-yard game.
“It starts up front,” Moreno said after the game. “Those guys up front, they open up the holes and push those other big guys back. We’re just running the ball so it’s easy when those guys are doing the job.”
His 122 rushing yards marked the most by a visiting player against the Baltimore Ravens since the 2010 season and he turned in just the 17th 100-yard rushing game against the Ravens by a visiting running back in the franchise’s history.
His game against Baltimore was highlighted by a 20-yard run in the first quarter during which he hurdled over Ravens safety Ed Reed.
“It’s unbelievable,” fullback Jacob Hester said of the play. “You see guys that do it when people are on the ground or people try to tackle them low. But you don’t see many people do that to Ed Reed, who’s standing straight up. He did that to a Hall-of-Famer who was literally standing straight up and he leaped right over him. Knowshon’s a special player. He’s one of the few guys who can run tough as well as run to the outside and we’re glad to have him.”
Moreno scored his third touchdown of the season on a 6-yard carry that gave the Broncos a 31-3 lead in the third quarter.
