Elway Excited for Playoffs

January 3rd, 2012 - 4:44pm by Max HensonOther posts by

A 7-3 loss to the Chiefs wasn’t the way Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway preferred to enter the playoffs, but the organization’s goal of winning the AFC West was accomplished.

“I am a little disappointed in how we played last week,” Elway said during his weekly live-streamed show ‘Elway Live’ on DenverBroncos.com. “But the first goal we set was to win the AFC West. We did that.”

Now the Broncos are getting ready for postseason play against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in the Wild Card round.

“It’s a great experience for everybody,” Elway said. “It’s nice to be back in (the playoffs) and competing. Everyone’s excited.”

Elway Looking Forward to This Weekend

December 27th, 2011 - 4:30pm by Kenny LeganOther posts by

Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs is shaping up to be one of the biggest games in the last few years for the Broncos.

At the end of the day the Broncos could be AFC West champions and playoff bound for the first time since 2005.

But for that to happen, Denver will have to beat Kansas City for the second time this season. Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway said Tuesday on ‘Elway Live’ that won’t be a walk in the park.

“It’s always tough to beat a team twice,” Elway said. “We’ve got to be ready to play one of our best football games.”

Elway Sees Improvement in Tebow

December 20th, 2011 - 3:19pm by Kenny LeganOther posts by

With just two games left in the regular season, Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway joined Broncos TV’s Chris Hall Tuesday for another edition of “Elway Live.” The former Broncos quarterback talked about current quarterback Tim Tebow’s progression this season, helping Broncos quarterbacks in the offseason, and the Broncos ability to put points on the board in the first quarter last week.

Just about the only thing Elway didn’t talk about was the one thing most Broncos fans can’t stop thinking about — the Broncos’ playoff chances.

“We don’t like to look that far ahead,” Elway said. “I’m a little bit superstitious when it comes to those type of things. We can hopefully talk about the playoffs next week or the following week. But until we get there, I don’t want to jinx us or any of those Broncos fans out there. We’ve got to get there first and then we’ll be glad to talk about it.”

November 29th, 2011 - 4:27pm by Max HensonOther posts by

As the Broncos and Chargers played into overtime Sunday, the game became a battle of endurance.

And as the game wore on, the Broncos physical style both offensively in the run game and defensively with a furious pass-rush eventually pushed them past San Diego.

On ‘Elway Live’ today, Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway talked about that physical style of play that ultimately led to hard-fought victory.

“Anytime that our guys now feel like we’re in the game,” Elway said, “they are going to outlast the other team because of the physical nature we play with on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.”

“We outlasted them.”
