Award Winning Broncos

May 6th, 2008 - 8:13pm by domonique_foxworthOther posts by

I went to the Denver Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year banquet that I went to on Friday. I was there with Champ and Boss Bailey, who came with his wife. It was my second year going, I went the year before. It’s always a great function because it is a big fundraiser. They raise tons and tons of money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.

They honor somebody every year – last year they honored Pat Hamill, who is the Chairman of Oakwood Homes. He and I have become friends since then. This year, they honored Pat Bowlen, who is one of my favorite people in the world, he signs my checks. I guess I have to change my name to Pat to be honored by them.

It’s a great event to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club. One of the cool things about it is the entertainment is singing and dancing and poems written and performed by kids from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. It’s always impressive because the kids are really, really talented. Since I’m normally at the Boys and Girls Club once a week – the Broncos branch – I know a lot of the kids that won and I know a lot of the kids that performed. So, it’s very personal which is pretty cool.

Tender Signed

April 22nd, 2008 - 3:39pm by domonique_foxworthOther posts by

The most significant thing that happened was I signed my tender. It’s great, I am happy to be back with the Broncos. Just the more time you spend in the business the more you learn. The ins and outs, the good and the bad. But I am very happy to be able to spend another year — barring anything akward like a trade. I am happy I will be spending another year here in Denver — a city that I have grown to love. Colorado is a great place.

It was weird all offseason because I had a contract pending with the Broncos, it felt like I was on an episode of “Deal or No Deal.” The Broncos offered me a case and I looked around at the rest of the cases and there were no other lucrative cases, so I pressed the button last Friday. I am very happy about the decision I made and happy to be back for another year.

I am also looking forward to focusing on corner, which should allow me to make a lot more plays and return to the very talented young corner that I was before I started bouncing around and filling in for the team at safety and various other positions. I am very excited about signing some new guys, which keep me at corner and I can rekindle my corner talent.

Preparing for the Colts

September 25th, 2007 - 5:43pm by domonique_foxworthOther posts by

Tough loss. No one really likes losing; it’s hard to deal with. You work a full week to get ready for the game, and all the time the coaches have put in to get your game plan, the time the players put in to practice the game plan, and to come out on Sunday and not execute as well as we expect is tough. Some encouraging things, we obviously have a talented team, a good team, because as poorly as we played, it still came down to the final minutes of the game. We were still within six points with four minutes to go and we had the ball, we just weren’t able to pull it out.

It was another frustrating week for me. I did not play, once again, but I got a little closer to playing, because I actually had on pads. But that actually might have made it more difficult to deal with, whereas the week before I just had on a sweat suit. I think my ankle was in good enough condition to play, but the coaches said I would only come in in case of emergency, which it got kind of close there with John Lynch getting hurt and a few other things happening. I almost got to play, but I definitely, 100 percent, expect to play this week against the Colts, which we are all looking forward to.
