After Thursday’s practice, linebacker Wesley Woodyard was honored with the 2012 Darrent Williams Good Guy Award.

The award was created in memory of former Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams, who passed away on Jan. 1, 2007, after completing his second season with the team. The annual honor is given to the Bronco who best exemplifies Williams’ enthusiasm, cooperation and honesty while dealing with members of the press.

“I think he’s about as good as guy as there gets,” Head Coach John Fox said of the selection. “Wesley’s a great guy in that locker room, he’s been a leader here for the two years I’ve been here, I know.”

According to The Denver Post’s Jeff Legwold, who presented the award on behalf of the Denver chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America, Woodyard was recognized for his willingness to meet with the press during the highs and lows of the season.

Previous winners of the Darrent Williams Good Guy Award were Champ Bailey (2011), Mario Haggan (2010), Elvis Dumervil (2009), Ebenezer Ekuban (2008) and John Lynch (2007).
