The Broncos on Wednesday placed Darrell Reid and Jamal Williams on the physically unable to perform list, and placed Ryan Clady on the non-football injury list.

All three players count against the 80-man roster, and all three can resume practicing at any time upon completing a physical.

Woodyard Showing Support

December 18th, 2009 - 2:03pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

Wesley Woodyard’s brother is currently working in Iraq alongside the U.S. Military, so it comes as no surprise that Woodyard would have an affinity for the troops.

Inspired by his brother, the inside linebacker decided to donate 10 tickets to Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders to military men and women who have recently come back from overseas.

“Sitting around talking to Andra Davis, he also expressed that it would probably be a good idea for me to reach out to the troops, just to show the support and the love that we as Broncos have for them,” Woodyard said.

He worked with the ticket office to help find soldiers who were back from abroad, and provided tickets to get them out to INVESCO Field at Mile High this weekend.

“It’s pretty good to get them to come to the game,” Woodyard smiled. “I know they’re going to be loud.”

Reid on ESPN First Take

October 27th, 2009 - 4:34pm by Zach EisendrathOther posts by

While many players on the Broncos spent time off during their bye week resting up or on a quick vacation, Darrell Reid spent a portion of his time away from Dove Valley in Bristol, Conn. — making his way around ESPN studios.

Reid appeared live on a variety of ESPN programming last Friday, including SportsCenter, ESPN News and the Scott Van Pelt Show.

He also appeared on ESPN First Take — sitting down with co-host Dana Jacobson to talk about Head Coach Josh McDaniels’ influence on the team’s 6-0 start and how the club has been able to jell so quickly in 2009.

Former Teammates Set to Square Off

October 1st, 2009 - 2:34pm by Zach EisendrathOther posts by

Having been teammates together at the University of Minnesota, Darrell Reid knows what Cowboys running back Marion Barber brings to the table just about better than anyone.

“He definitely prepares hard week in and week out and in the offseason,” Reid said. “If you just look at his physique and the type of runner he is, you’ve got to work hard to pound the ball like he does, to punish defenders like he does. He’s that type or running back. And at the same time he’s got great speed and great vision to go along with it.”

While Reid said the two are close friends, the two former Gophers will wait to reminisce until another time. For instance, they likely won’t be watching Minnesota’s border battle with Wisconsin on ESPN together on Saturday afternoon.

“I’m not big into hanging out with the team we’re playing before the game,” Reid said. “So probably won’t do that.”

Training Camp Day 1: P.M. Blog

July 31st, 2009 - 9:32pm by Zach EisendrathOther posts by

Day one of training camp has come to a close. The Broncos completed their first evening practice on a brisk night at Dove Valley, lasting just over two hours.

After enjoying ideal conditions for the morning practice — warm temperatures with a bit of shade — temperatures dropped considerably for the p.m. practice. Still, for the most part the weather again cooperated, as the team managed to avoided the rain that fell at Dove Valley for much of the afternoon.

Here are some tidbits from the team’s second practice of the day:

Conditioning For Success

March 19th, 2009 - 5:20pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

Andra Davis has spent his entire career with the Cleveland Browns. Now he’s traded in his jersey for a new shade of orange — and added a little blue.

“This is a new beginning for me,” Davis said to the media on Thursday. “I’m very excited, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to go out there and play.”

For now, Davis and the rest of the Broncos are doing what it takes to get prepared to play — strength and conditioning.

And while the eighth-year linebacker said he’s only had a couple chances to speak with Head Coach Josh McDaniels, he’s gotten up close and personal with Strength and Conditioning Coach Rich Tuten.

“This week’s been going so fast, I’ve just been in there with Rich the whole time — I know a lot about him in four days,” he said with a laugh. “He’s got be breathing hard like this right now.”

And it was apparent the players are working hard — Davis wiped his forehead with a towel between every question from the media.
