Day Two has started, and there’s a special teams practice later this afternoon. We’re trying to put this thing up quick for you guys. By the way, let us know if there is any particular player you’d like to see pictures of, and we’ll try to accomodate that. Here are some quick hits:

ATTENDANCE REPORT: Chad Mustard was out of pads for the second day with a right hamstring injury…Edell Shepherd was out of pads after injuring his left knee in practice yesterday…rookie Spencer Larsen, who missed his second straight practice, is attending to a family emergency according to Head Coach Mike Shanahan…Montrae Holland is still practicing with Strength and Conditioning Coach Rich Tuten until he gets to his reporting weight.

POSTURING FOR POSITION: On the first play of 11-on-11, full team scrimmaging, the starting backfield was composed of Jay Cutler, Selvin Young and Cecil Sapp. The starting receivers were Brandon Marshall and Darrell Jackson, and Daniel Graham started at tight end. Training Camp Day 8: Morning Report

August 6th, 2007 - 2:17pm by AndrewOther posts by

Camp Day 8
Aside from Jarvis Moss — no news yet, still waiting on the MRI — the morning at Dove Valley was nevertheless a fairly eventful one, capped by the release of the first official depth chart, which was distributed towards the end of practice. Here’s some items worth noting:

… Chris Kuper is listed as the first-team right guard, but found himself running with the second team after allowing three sacks during the morning session. “That’s why he was changed,” Head Coach Mike Shanahan said. “When a guy gives up three sacks in one day, sometimes you make a move to see how the other guy responds.” That “other guy” was Montrae Holland, listed on the depth chart as the second-stringer at right guard.

… Although Nate Webster, D.D. Lewis and Warrick Holdman have shared time at first-team strongside linebacker throughout training camp, the Broncos placed Louis Green as the first-team strongside ‘backer, backed up by Nate Webster and T.J. Hollowell. Lewis is listed as the second-team middle linebacker with Cameron Vaughn behind him, while Wesley Mallard is shown as the second-string weakside linebacker, one spot ahead of Warrick Holdman.

All that, however, is subject to alteration.

“It could change any day,” Shanahan said. “Lou has had an excellent camp so far; that’s why we put him as the No. 1 ‘Sam’ linebacker. But in a day or two, he could be two or three (on the depth chart).”

Broncos-Colts Pregame Notes: Warren, Kuper, Morgan Inactive

October 29th, 2006 - 1:09pm by AndrewOther posts by

Lots of news as the inactives are passed out:

  • Cross Chris Kuper off the list of possibilities on the offensive line today; he is once again inactive. Meanwhile, tackle Adam Meadows — signed in the preseason to bolster depth at the position — is among the 45 active players for the first time this season. Erik Pears, last week’s left-tackle fill-in, is also active.
  • No Bob Sanders for Indy; he’s out. Former Michigan standout Marlin Jackson will shift over from cornerback to take his place. Dylan Gandy will also replace Ryan Lilja at left guard for the Colts.
  • Defensive tackle Gerard Warren will not play, one week after spraining his right big toe at Cleveland. He practiced Friday, but ultimately the Broncos opted to hold him out. Demetrin Veal played in his place last week and also handled those duties in the preseason when Warren dislocated his left big toe.
  • Kickoff returner Quincy Morgan is inactive after handling those duties for the past four games. Meanwhile, rookie Brian Clark — promoted from the practice squad six days ago — is among the active players. Clark was the Broncos’ leading kickoff returner in the preseason.
  • Denver’s other inactive players include wide receiver Todd Devoe, safety Hamza Abdullah, linebacker Nate Webster and tight end Nate Jackson.
  • The Broncos are back to their usual home uniforms — blue jerseys with white pants, last seen during the 9-6 win over Kansas City on Sept. 17.
