Crushin’ Cancer Softball Tournament

On Saturday, cornerback Cassius Vaughn is hosting the inaugural Crushin’ Cancer softball tournament.

In addition to Vaughn, safety David Bruton, defensive tackle Mitch Unrein and Miles the Mascot are expected to take part in the tournament.

Entrants have a chance to win a Harley Davidson Motorcycle from Tri City Cycle, and can participate in a silent auction, which includes several items from Karl Mecklenburg, the Colorado Eagles and Pelican Lakes Golf.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Music, food, drinks, merchandise and an autograph booth will be on hand for all attendees to enjoy.

The event kicks off Saturday, April 28th at 9 a.m. at the Diamond Valley Complex in Windsor, Colo.

McGahee Back at Practice Tuesday

Running back Willis McGahee participated in the portion of practice open to the media on Tuesday. The ninth-year pro left Sunday’s game against the Chiefs after suffering a hamstring injury in the first quarter.

“He was cleared to come back into the game, but we weren’t going to put him in there unless it was an emergency situation all in part to have him ready for this Thursday,” Head Coach John Fox said on Monday. “I think it obviously helped. Whether or not it will come to fruition, I’m not sure, but he’s a guy that we’d like to have healthy Thursday night.”

Vaughn Making Mark Like FA’s Before Him

On Wednesday, voting begins on the University of Mississippi campus as students vote in the final stage of choosing a mascot to represent the Ole Miss athletic teams.

That is a big thing happening at Ole Miss today, but far, far from the Oxford campus a young man who recently played four years for the Rebels as an outstanding defensive back is making a name for himself with the Denver Broncos.

Demaryius Thomas summed up the Colts defense in two players.

“Two defensive ends that play,” he said. “The whole defense is fast.”

Head Coach Josh McDaniels took a similar stance.

“They have very disruptive players, which starts with Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis on the edge — who get to the quarterback plenty and also take the ball away,” he said.
