Broncos at Ravens: Coin Toss

December 16th, 2012 - 11:04am by Tyler EverettOther posts by

The game captains for Denver are quarterback Peyton Manning, defensive end Elvis Dumervil, linebacker Wesley Woodyard and cornerback Champ Bailey, who are joined by game captain defensive tackle Justin Bannan.

The Ravens won the game’s coin toss and deferred the choice to the second half, meaning the Broncos will start the game on offense.

Broncos at Ravens: Inactives

December 16th, 2012 - 9:35am by Tyler EverettOther posts by

The teams have announced the names of the players who will not participate in today’s contest.

For the Broncos, quarterback Caleb Hanie, wide receiver Andre Caldwell, cornerback Tracy Porter, running back Lance Ball, guard Chris Kuper, tight end Julius Thomas and defensive tackle Sealver Siliga are inactive.

With those players inactive, it means fullback Jacob Hester is set to make his first appearance as a Bronco. Linebacker Wesley Woodyard, who was listed as questionable with an ankle injury, will participate in today’s game.

One Play at a Time

December 14th, 2012 - 12:46pm by Von MillerOther posts by

We’ve had a great streak so far, and we’re hoping to extend it another game this weekend in Baltimore.

We just have to go out there and keep doing what we’ve been doing.

I’ve heard how tough of a place Baltimore is to play for the Broncos — and all teams — historically. We have a different team this year and if we just keep taking it one play at a time, I know what we can do.

We’ve all heard about how Ray Lewis might be back this weekend. He’s a player that I’ve looked up to and I think it’d be great just to see him and watch him compete. I just hope our defense can play a little bit better than theirs and we can edge them out.

Ray Rice is a tough test for us out of the backfield. He’s compact and has great vision. He is quick, fast and strong. He has all the qualities of a great running back.

We have to take it one play at a time and play the type of football that we know how to play and we can get it done.

Update on Baltimore’s Lewis, Suggs

December 13th, 2012 - 4:43pm by Gray CaldwellOther posts by

With Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis still absent from the team’s injury report — he has yet to be activated from injured reserve with a designation to return — it’s unclear whether the All-Pro will suit up on Sunday against the Broncos.

“That really is totally up to the trainers, (Ravens Head Coach) John (Harbaugh) and the organization,” Baltimore Defensive Coordinator Deen Pees said. “Whoever shows up on Sunday, that’s who we’re going to coach up.”

“You just have to go ahead with what you have.”

Things are also up in the air for fellow linebacker Terrell Suggs, who missed last week’s game with a biceps injury.

But Pees said Suggs “has been practicing and seems to be doing fine.”

He was listed as questionable on Wednesday but had full participation in Thursday’s practice.

Harbaugh: ‘A Game That Everybody Should Be Excited About’

December 12th, 2012 - 1:00pm by Sam DavisOther posts by

Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh is more than aware of the playmakers the Broncos have in every phase of the game. In a conference call on Tuesday, Harbaugh talked about how his team will look to contain those playmakers, while acknowledging the sizable task at hand.

“This is a game that everybody should be excited about,” Harbaugh said. “We’re just hoping that we can hang in there and pull our end of it. Denver — they’re playing at such a high level on all three phases. It’s probably going to be tough for us to hang in there against them, so we’re hopeful we can do that.”

Broncos Feeling Recharged

December 10th, 2012 - 2:38pm by Tyler EverettOther posts by

While 28 of 32 NFL teams spent Sunday battling in hard-fought games, the Broncos spent the day resting and relaxing.

Denver’s last game – a 26-13 victory against AFC West rival Oakland — presented the challenge of playing two games in five days. But it also meant extra time off to prepare for the team’s next game – the upcoming showdown with the 9-4 Baltimore Ravens.

“It’s huge,” cornerback Champ Bailey said of the time off after the win over the Raiders. “I think we’re going to need all of it to get ready for that team. That’s a good football team. We’re going to take all this time to make sure we’re ready to go up there and win.”

The offseason got off to a big start for the Broncos this week. There are plenty of opportunities to share your thoughts in some of the other blogs and many of you have already done that.

As for me, I’m going to focus on the playoffs over the next few weeks. I’ll break down the upcoming games, make my predictions and hopefully get yours as well.
