2011 NFL Scouting Combine: Day 2

February 25th, 2011 - 7:27am by Kyle SonnemanOther posts by

A fresh blanket of snow has fallen on Indianapolis this morning as we prepare for day two of the NFL Scouting Combine. On the docket today; quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers make their way through the Lucas Oil Field media room. Additionally, General Manager Brian Xanders will address the gathered press at around 11 a.m. EST (9 a.m. MST).

As we speak, John Elway is meeting with a small group of media near the convention center. Gray Caldwell is there and he will report back shortly on what the Executive Vice President of Football Operations had to say. We will also bring you the video of that media session.

As always, please pass along any questions you have or any prospects you want us to keep an eye out for.

Conference Championships: The Super Two

AFC CHAMPIONSHIP
NEW YORK JETS 20, PITTSBURGH STEELERS 17

Throw out conventional wisdom, throw out the stats and throw out everything else. I’ve come to believe it is simply the Jets year.

It is easy to make a statement like that when one is talking about a team as talented as the Jets are. They have the defense, they have the running game and they certainly have the intangibles to go to Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers.

John Fox Right Coach at Right Time

January 14th, 2011 - 11:22am by jim_saccomanoOther posts by

This is a very exciting moment in Denver Broncos history as John Fox takes the reins as head coach of the iconic Rocky Mountain sports franchise.

There is no team comparable to the Broncos in our time zone, and as one draws closer to Denver it is like heading into the epicenter of an emotional tsunami, with the Broncos figuratively representing the state religion for legions of Broncos Country residents.

The Broncos have achieved legendary status over the past 51 years, albeit in a legendary low ebb at this very time.

But with every negative comes a positive, and in this case it just happened that John Fox was available to bring his experience, energy and focus to the Mile High City.

Divisonal Playoffs: The Field Narrows

January 14th, 2011 - 12:00am by mike_riceOther posts by

This week, I continue previewing the NFL playoffs.

AFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS

PITTSBURGH 20, BALTIMORE 17

This kind of game defines playoff football. Two great teams. Two rugged defenses. Two offenses with more than enough firepower.

Buckle up. And don’t forget the chinstrap. Be sure to have the massage therapist ready for the post-game rubdown, too.

Welcome John Fox, your new Head Coach!!

January 13th, 2011 - 4:05pm by mark_cooperOther posts by

This never went up yesterday so I’ll leave it up and change what I now said at the end of this post. I’M EXCITED BY EVERYTHING I’VE NOW READ!!! STAY TUNED FOR THE PRESS CONFERENCE AT NOON TODAY

Yesterday: For lack of getting out there and doing a whole lot of research I’m reposting the press release at the team site and then we’ll comment at the bottom about Mac and Doog’s radio show I was on today and some text messages I’ve received from around the country.

Hey there, Broncos Fans!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe New Year celebration!!! I cannot believe 2010 is over and gone. This year flew by so fast, and it was jammed-packed with fun and excitement.

Coming off my rookie year, I have learned so much about myself, this wonderful organization and how absolutely amazing Broncos Country truly is. I wish every fan had an opportunity to experience the game from field level. The energy is racing, the crowd is roaring, and you can feel the excitement in the air.

Wild Card Weekend: Home Is Not So Sweet

January 6th, 2011 - 11:40pm by mike_riceOther posts by

The offseason got off to a big start for the Broncos this week. There are plenty of opportunities to share your thoughts in some of the other blogs and many of you have already done that.

As for me, I’m going to focus on the playoffs over the next few weeks. I’ll break down the upcoming games, make my predictions and hopefully get yours as well.

Bakke: Two Rolls of Film and a Smile

January 6th, 2011 - 10:41am by Gabe HiattOther posts by

Team photographer Eric Lars Bakke has been working with the Broncos for 26 years. His photography blog will serve as a unique look from the perspective of an NFL photographer, periodically updating the site with tales from the sidelines, some of his favorite photos and the stories behind them.

Gosh, it was like old times.

His voice filled the air. His enthusiasm was phenomenal. Every eye was glued to the podium as No. 7 spoke his every word. January 5, 2011, was virtually John Elway Day.

Elway Era!!

January 5th, 2011 - 2:23pm by mark_cooperOther posts by

Great interview today. Waited to post until I heard the interview. If you didn’t, find it on KOA or other sites and see what you think. (DenverBroncos.com will have the video and audio of the press conference on the site shortly.)

Sixteen years in the league and some tough years are “experiences” you can’t read about and/or understand if you haven’t lived it. I was there for four of John and had another three of my own in Tampa with losing seasons, but 16 years and all he accomplished speaks for itself, so I’m excited for the organization, Mr. Bowlen and the fans.

John’s a winner, a leader, a smart guy, and like I mentioned before the MOST fierce competitor I ever played with in my “ENTIRE” sports career and I played with Kelly, Testaverde, Joe Ferguson, Steve Deberg and Bernie Kosar was a redshirt at Miami when I as a senior. You know it when you see it and you know by what a guy does on and off the field. Leadership and respect are earned, not a given.
