We’re Hungry

September 27th, 2012 - 7:29am by Eric Decker

We’re 1-2, but I think we learned a lot these first three weeks as far as what we need to work on, what we need to get better at and what we’re good at. I think we’re hungry. We definitely want a win. We know how important this rivalry is, being a division game. We need to get back on track with a W. So we’re excited to get another opportunity against the Raiders.

One thing is there’s no quit in this team. That’s always a positive. You see teams, they get behind by a couple scores or have a rough stretch, just kind of give up. This team doesn’t give up. That’s a testament to the coaching staff and to the character of the guys on this team. That’s going to win you ballgames towards the end of the season.

I definitely am excited to get AFC West games started Sunday. This is really what it’s all about — winning your own division. Control your division and you set yourself up for a possible playoff spot. If you win your division, you get a spot. Every game is so important — division games are just more important.

A couple fan questions I wanted to get to. Daylon asked which current NFL wide receivers I’m a fan of. Since I’ve been in the league, I’ve always looked up to Larry Fitzgerald. I always watched his tape, just being friends, too, picked his mind as far as how to be better in certain situations. If it’s press coverage, if it’s route technique, things like that. Then I would say other guys I look at would be Andre Johnson or Calvin Johnson from Detroit. Just some of the bigger guys, as far as how they’re more physical and can get in and out of their cuts, being bigger guys.

As far as a question from Anurd, I love the orange jerseys. I’m excited that we made that switch — bring back the Orange Crush. As far as Nike jerseys, I had them all throughout college, so I was real comfortable getting back into them. I just think they’ve got a great feel, great fit and they look cool.

I’ll check back in next week. Hope you all are enjoying these blogs. Let me know what you want to hear about, and keep the questions coming.

Big game this Sunday Eric, I’m looking forward to seeing our offense continue to come together as a team. It’s all about peaking at the right time, but we need this one for sure!

Focus. Stay hungry. And bring your A-game. I think I speak for many when I say a W against this team at Mile-High is long overdue.

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!

“[But] whatever gains I had, these I have come to consider a loss because of Christ. More than that, I even consider everything as a loss because of the supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have accepted the loss of all things and consider them so much rubbish, that I may gain Christ.”–Philippians 4:7,8 N.A.B. Paul also states that we are to run the race to win. ‘Just get open to give Peyton a target.

You made some impressive catches in last weeks game. How much of a difference do you see in the opportunities for you to improve in your position this year, stemming from the change to having a throwing quarterback as opposed to a running quarterback?

  6. HandofDOOM says:

I’ve got a question for ya Deck. You never dropped anything in college, what’s up now? I’m a big ten fan and I watched you play. I was excited when you came here but I feel you have really dropped off.

  7. scottlowe says:

Tough game against a tough team. We have them nasty Raiders next lets hope we can pull out a W it is always a tough game between the two no matter what the records are. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off alot of the fans are to young to remember all the super bowl losses but with hard work John got his wring(back to back). 1-2 is not a hole so deep that you cant climb out of and give everybody a ring to remember.

  8. Broncoorange says:

Keep working hard Eric! We have played two great teams in the last two weeks and both times had a chance at the end which gives me hope.

  9. Laura says:

Which quarter back do you like working with the most peyton manning or tebow??

  10. gmnielsen says:

Please, Please, oh PLEASE just give us a win over the raiders! Thanks ahead of time! ;)

  11. SWBronco says:

    Hey Eric,

Love your playing and am glad you agreed to tell us a little bit about what it’s like inside the building. Really I suppose my only question is how much studying you do. We all know you players study the playbooks every day, but really what goes into that?

  12. SECBroncofan says:

Hey Deck, how about coming back to the QB on those comeback routes, instead of just stopping?
    That would make us better!!!

  13. SammyGirl says:

Alright Eric, it’s Oakland week! I’m feeling really good about this one…make us proud. The last 2 weeks have been rough, but we played some really good teams and you guys never gave up fighting! I constantly brag about you wearing the Great White Hope’s number, I’d love to see you live up to Ed’s legacy…

  14. Ma says:

Dude you ware # 87 and you are not representing that # Ed would never slide instead of trying for more yards he caught the balls that were thrown his way and he always played with all his hart
STEP UP AND PLAY UP TO YOUR # 87

  15. BroncoChick87 says:

Raiders are coming off a huge win and the Broncos know that feeling of beating the Steelers. They will be pumped up and even hungrier to take the broncos down in Bronco Country.

Broncos, stay strong and hungry for that win! We believe in you! Thank you for not giving up late in the game like some teams.

  16. Chris Mercer says:

    Decker,

Do us all a favor and don’t slide when you catch the ball this time. That was the weakest play any broncos fan has seen. Learn from Eddie Mac and work for those extra yards.

  17. strandoftds82 says:

Deck, I still believe in ya! All apart of the process. It’s only going to get better. How about a Mile High Salute after your TD’s Sunday. Rock On!!

  18. James says:

Be aware of where you’re at in the end zone and drag your toe. Fitzgerald and C. Johnson are both adept at it.

  19. strandoftds82 says:

I just got done watching the program on ESPN, Outside The Lines(OTL), and Mark Schlereth was quoting as saying, Quote: (The NFL has drawn back the curtains and has exposed itself for what it really is. The crumbs have fallen onto the couch and onto the floor. It doesn’t care about the FANS but only about the dollar). What a perfect word from STINK! Gotta love it!!!

  20. strandoftds82 says:

new blog about Nalen and Lynch as Nominees for the 2013 HOF.

  21. Raquel says:

There’s something special about the number 87! I was always a huge McCaffrey fan, and I’m a huge fan of you now! And I have to say that I was a little upset that they didnt retire his number, but you wear it well! Keep up the great work! I’ll be rooting for you! :-)

  22. broncofan6453 says:

Pass it along Eric. There is 60 mins. of football not 15 mins. Also Mr. Decker you & Thomas have to catch the easy passes not just the hard to catch passes. Good luck sunday. I hope you guys kick there a_ _.

  23. klacey79 says:

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and I am not at all a fan of the Oakland Raiders. I would love to see you guys shut them down this weekend.I wanted to quickly say that I have been a football fan my whole life and I really became a Bronco fan when Mccaffrey (lucky #87) was playing. You do the number justice and needless to say you are a beautiful man as well. My question for you is…what are your thoughts on the NFL ref situation? Also, what’s with the hair? Good luck this weekend! Hope to see a mile high salute, it would also help my fantasy team.

  24. lovinguntexas says:

  26. monodono says:

Thanks for the post Eric, FTR!

Have you noticed Peyton holds onto the ball just a hair longer early into the games? Is this by design to get through all His reads or is this in my imagination?

Hey Eric, my friend Trudi hand paints these, check them out:

    Love you DECKS!!!!
I wanted to ask you this week are you looking forward to have the officials back in D-Town (303) this week?
I know the Fans had a sigh of relief when we heard that the officials were coming back phew!!!
What do you think the officiating will do to impact the game?, you know Oakland is huge on Penalty’s.
Anyways Decks, going to go back to watching the people on NFL AM talk crap about the broncos and Peyton, which is a crop of crap!

  28. TwoGunz says:

    Hey deck,

Im just curious why we continue to recieve after the coin toss in the first quater rather than deferring or just choosing to kick. Im mainly asking because it seems like we play much better in the second half rather than the first half, so it would make more sense to recieve in the second half so we have an extra chance to score when we are at our best.

    Go Broncos!

  29. BRONCOSONMINE says:

HEY DECKER WHAT TYPES OF GOALS DID YOU SET TO REACH YOUR DREAM?

    #GO BRONCOS

  30. iHeart_Peyton18 says:

What’s up Decker? I have a few question’s for ya. First, what do you usually eat on gameday? Another question I have is, who do you usually hang out with off the field and how often? What do you guys usually do? #LETS GO BRONCOS

  31. LittleCanadian says:

What’s a typical leg workout for you? Keep winning! It’s tough being a Broncos fan in the great, white North when you’re not!
