Tough Test

September 15th, 2012 - 2:48pm by Von Miller

We’re getting ready to go to Atlanta to play a good team in the Falcons. We’re looking forward to taking the next step. It should be a good game and a good measuring stick for us and our team. We’re looking forward to getting on the plane and hopefully coming back with the ‘W.’

Last week’s opener was great. I’ve never seen so much orange in my life. Our fans are great. I’m looking forward to knocking this next game out then getting back in front of the fans at home against the Texans next Sunday.

Before that though, we have a tough test coming up against the Falcons. They have a great offense, a great quarterback in Matt Ryan and lots of weapons. We definitely have to be on our A game to pull it off.

Hopefully A&M gets a win this afternoon vs. SMU. We just have to keep taking it one day at a time to be that program that we know we can be.

Go Broncos and Gig em!

Yeah! He only had the one catch yesterday? Or just a few, not many. The Jets looked good first half and then th Steelers figured them out!

    Good morning Broncos Country

I wish i could close my eyes and it would be gametime when i open them again. I think we need to keep a CB on Gonzales tonight he could kill our LB and we need to use alot of 2 TE formations we have 2 good route runners there and that could hurt their LB

  3. Nfl Latest News says:

Well boys I have a blog here where i tell you why the broncos win and more importantly how to bet the game and make some good cash! http://nfllatestnews.com/can-manning-and-the-broncos-do-it-again/

  4. HomeTeam007 says:

well, Marshisboss, Gonzales is back with the Chiefs, so no worries there… But we do still have a weakness at defending the pass with our linebackers… no offense Von.

Other than that, from what I saw against the Steelers, Our secondary needs to stay sharp and not allow the long third down plays. That will be a challenge.

Also, lets see if we can get the run game going!!! Control the clock, pound the rock and keep the Von Doom machine rested and ready.

those are my keys to a 34 – 24 win tonight…. #Orange Crush Is Back

  5. tlcat06 says:

    Gonzales is not at Chief….

  6. tlcat06 says:

    Not A Chief

  7. HomeTeam007 says:

my Bad… I guess Gonzales is still on their Roster. I thought I heard he went back to KC.; that does pose another concern for us to deal with. I think we are up for the challenge. Right, Von, Woodyard and Mays??!!! Right Bailey, Moore, Carter and Porter???!!

    Lets get it done!

  8. HomeTeam007 says:

    Not a thief…?

  9. tlcat06 says:

He went back to KC last week because they played them… I thinks hats what you heard;) oh Champ is tired of him. Tonight will test our defense.

  10. Bronco_Turtle says:

Hometeam… you did here that! in reference to ATL playing in KC last week for the first time since Gonzalez went to ATL… He caught a TD Also

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8386973/nfl-pulls-replacement-ref-new-orleans-saints-game

Can anyone get this link to Open… says a Replacement ref got pulled from a game, but I can not get more details

  11. killerkod says:

turtle……apparently it was precautionary. The ref had pics of the Saints posted on his facebook……I guess that’s his team and the league wanted to avoid any accusations of the ref being bias.

  12. gabeharter says:

    BRONCOS WIN 31 – 17

  13. x Papa Mojo x says:

BT: Ref had on his facebook that he was a Saints fan.

  15. ddk002 says:

I would love to see the defense come out and crush these guys!!! I know we have the talent to disrupt their game plan. Let’s get to Ryan 5 or so times like we did last week. If we can get some sacks, and a couple turnovers we have potential to shut them down. As for the offense let’s play mistake free and our points can come quick. I’m hoping for an outstanding performance on Defense, I love watching you guys make plays!!!!

Let’s bring the heat all night!!! Broncos 34-16!!!!

  16. strandoftds82 says:

So this is a pretty important game so to speak as far as separation in the AFC West division. If we win tonight we remain tie with S.D. Here’s the good part. Next weekends match ups are K.C. at N.O., Pittsburgh at Oakland, and Atlanta at S.D. And of course our Bronco’s are at home against Houston. I bet both K.C. and Oakland end up 0-3, such a shame. Anyways lets get a win tonight.

  17. strandoftds82 says:

Just to let everyone know, the Broncos Country Blog contest is up and running. Its allowing bloggers to make our predictions again, the glitch is fixed. I just entered mine moments ago.

  18. strandoftds82 says:

Mojo, those are some fine numbers there brother!

  19. strandoftds82 says:

I just want to point out that Hillis chose the wrong to to go play for. The Chief’s still stink and bad too. HaHa!

  20. strandoftds82 says:

I wonder if Harris is good to go for tonight. I sure hope so.

  21. strandoftds82 says:

On another note: Next Sunday night’s game is N.E at Baltimore 6:20 p.m. MNT 8:20 p.m. EST. Someone’s gonna lose. These are two scary teams going head to head. We need momentum going up against these 2 teams. We win tonight it’s great for our Denver Broncos!

  22. x Papa Mojo x says:

@strandoftds82 – Thanks man! How about all the upsets though huh? NE NO all getting beat… hopefully the Broncos hold me to my words and get the W.

  23. strandoftds82 says:

In any case, I think it might be a shoot out tonight. I may be way off of my rocker, but we’ll find out tonight. And yes, yesterday was some bazaar surprises. N.E. and Baltimore got stunned. LOL

  24. killerkod says:

If we can bring the heat to Ryan like the Giants did in the playoffs last year, we have a great shot at shutting them down. Let’s hope our DB’s blanket the receivers and force Ryan to hold onto the ball……..and EAT TURF!

  25. strandoftds82 says:

Its going to be a good match up Kod. I believe its going to be much easier to get to Ryan for some early sacks. Ryan isn’t no Reothlisberger as to slipping away and causing things to happen. I think we’ll come away with a W.

  26. alaskanbronco06 says:

I want to know how a team can have 9 turnovers in 2 games and be 2-0….I mean the Browns week 1 turned it right back but the Ravens only turned it over a couple times….Man if I was Harbaugh I would be finding out why we couldnt capitalize on those turnovers.

Anyways tonights game has so many good matchups.

Bailey vs Jones. Pretty even matchup. Porter on White as well.

Our pass rush vs their Oline. Dont see how their Oline can really stop us except by using a lot of quick passes.

Turner vs our run D. Turner has declined some and was never real fast to bounce outside. Our run D vs Pitt really clogged the middle forcing the bounce back out. Rodgers would be the back to worry about IMO

Ryan vs our D. Ryan is a smart good QB. Running the no huddle will keep our D tired.

Thomas on Asante. Good matchup. Like Jones vs Bailey can see it going either way.

Robinson on Decker. Good battle. Think Decker has the edge.

McGahee vs the Falcons run D. Falcons have a good run D. Kinda like the Falcons run game I think the second back will be the one to worry about more. In this case Moreno obviously.

Our Oline vs the Falcons pass rush. Falcons have a ok pass rush. Not as dynamic as ours. I think our Oline will hold up.

Manning vs the Falcons D. Manning I think will be able to catch their blitzes and exploit it and pick them apart.

I think Stokley and Tamme will be important in our passing game and get targeted a lot with the corners that will be on Decker and Thomas. Kinda like Gonzalez for the Falcons.

Both run games will be shut down at the start but after a while passing game will open up holes.

    Final score 38-35 Denver

    Offense
    Manning 31-43 347 pass yard. 3 TDs 1 INT sacked 3 times 1 rush for 6 yards on a 3rd and 5
    Thomas 6 receptions 123 yards 1 TD
    Decker 7 receptions 101 yards 1 TD
    Stokley 4 catches 39 yards 1 TD
    McGahee 18 attempts 88 yards 1 F 2 catches for 28 yards
    Moreno 10 attempts 64 yards 1 TD 3 catches for 31 yards
    Tamme 3 catches 46 yards
Prater 1 FGM 1 FGA 58 yard game winner

    Defense
    Miller 3 sacks
    Bailey 1 INT
    Porter 6 PD
    Wolfe 2 sacks
    DOOM 1 Sack
    Moore 1 INT

    Ryan 30-44 432 yards 4 TDs 2 INTs sacked 6 times. 4 rushes for 13 yards
    Jones 8 receptions 132 yards 1 TD
    White 4 receptions 92 yards 1 TD
    Douglas 2 receptions 29 yards
    Turner 17 attempts 47 yards 2 catches 22 yards
    Rodgers 13 attempts 51 yards 1 TD 4 catches 42 yards 1 TD
    Gonzalez 5 catches 88 yards 1 TD
Matt Bryant 2 FGA 2 FGM

    Defense
    Abrams 1 Sack
    Samuels 1 INT
    Edwards 1 sack
    Weatherspoon 1 sack

  27. alaskanbronco06 says:

    LMAO Pretty funny two gunz!!!!

  28. DenverCB says:

Ab, you think our D is gonna give up over 400 through the air… thats harsh

  29. alaskanbronco06 says:

It was hard to write. But they have good WRs and Gonzalez is going to cause mismatches. Also I dont think Falcons will be able to run the ball effectively which will cause them to pass more.

  30. DenverCB says:

I suppose so. It was hard to read haha. but true enough. I really hope none of that comes true and we shut them out. A guy can only dream eh

  31. alaskanbronco06 says:

CB Im with you on that!!! Just dont think it will….lol

Also think Pitt showed we have a weakness with quick pass defense and Atl will exploit that…..Hopefully weve been working hard on fixing that

  32. syrasyB345T says:

Yea Matty Ice is pretty good. And Julio Jones is really good. Its going to be a bad defensive game for Denver’s D but I still think they come out with the W. I agree with ab, 400+ yards for Matt..

  33. syrasyB345T says:

And Denver has never really been good against the quick pass cause of tackling. It’s hard to watch running back break 4 tackles and then hit the open field but we’ve been cracking down on that. It was better last Sunday!

  34. 7milehigh18 says:

I live in TN and im driving down to atlanta tonight!! il be sporting my VM jersey, who i expect to have a fantastic game and to shake ryan up. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. syrasyB345T says:

@milehigh. Is it a stitched jersey? And if it is, is it nike? I cant find a stitched nike jersey. Only those fake ones with the plastered on numbers. :(

  36. DaddyBronc says:

I’ll be nervous and jittery all day today as well. Good matchup chart there AB.

The game may come down to Ryan/Gonz v. Manning/ Dressen – Tamme. I like our chances.

  37. alaskanbronco06 says:

    DB thanks.

For some reason I really think the team what comes out with the W will be the team to score the most……lol

  38. wolfedom says:

I agree with most of your predictions AB except for Jones and Champ being an even match. Champ is the best and rises against the best receivers. 400 yrds through the air? I don’t think so maybe 250. I think we will put too much pressure on Ryan for those kind of numbers. I think if Moreno runs hard he maybe able to get outside and finally earn his paycheck. jmho

  39. strandoftds82 says:

Did y’all see that TE Aaron Hernandez from N.E. is out for a month with a high ankle sprain. We won’t be facing him when we play the Pats in 3 weeks. That caught my eye.

  40. strandoftds82 says:

I think that Wolfe-VonDoom will pressure Ryan early and cause some Kaos with some sacks and hurries. How about an INT by pressuring the QB to hurry in the first half.

  41. OrangeTsunami says:

Hey y’all, it’s finally here! Tough not to have Broncos football yesterday, but watching the Pats miss that FG made it all worth it! Huge game tonight, and my keys to the game is the same as last week: time of possession and win the turnover battle.

Check out this time of possession stat from the Houston game yesterday:

    Jacksonville: 16:43
    Texans: 43:17

  42. alaskanbronco06 says:

I disagree bout Champ ad Jones not being even. Champ is great but Jones has really came too and is a top WR in the NFL. Atlanta is a passing team. 250 is way to low for them. They do a lot of quick passes as well which is where Pitt showed we have a weakness. Quick passes will mean our pass rush has little affect. We had no sacks or QB hits on Big Ben when he got rid of the ball in under 3 seconds. Ryan and Atl does a lot of quick passes. When they dont do quick passes is where our pass rush will do good. Ryan will pass 300 for sure.

  43. OrangeTsunami says:

Btw, anyone else notice how the Raiders seemed to miss tackles left and right yesterday? Seems like a Dennis Allen issue, given our struggles in that area last year..

  44. tlcat06 says:

Wolfe, I don’t think that Ryan throws four hundred on us either, but probably at least 300… I have high illusions that we will be able to stop them efficiently and take enough time ff the clock and score so we can win the game!!!! None of this ball hogging by the Falcons like last week!!!

  45. strandoftds82 says:

This will be way different compared to last week. We’ll hold the ball longer this time around.

  46. strandoftds82 says:

I wonder if Ronnie Hillman will play tonight. I hope so!

  47. alaskanbronco06 says:

Strand I hope so as well about Hillman!!!!!

  48. OrangeTsunami says:

I’m actually happy if Hillman is kept on the shelf. We always have depth issues at RB late in the season, and we could use the fresh legs as the season grinds on IMO.

  49. x Papa Mojo x says:

I think Hillman will get his looks, but in a big game like this Fox/Manning will probably rely on what they know more. McGahee and Moreno. I do think we could use him as a special teams weapon. Who knows maby he knocks one outta the park… As far as short coverage I think that is not just a hit point for the Falcons but also for the Broncos. One thing I do love to give to the coaching staff (especially with Del Rio) is they would have gone over it in practice knowing not only they did that poorly, but they also want to prepare for a multitude of looks from the Dirty Birds. Hopefully it pans out and our defense plays the short passes smart and doesn’t give up the big play. ATL can def put a big play up and more then likely will have one tbh. However… we are the Denver freakin Broncos!!!!!!!!!!
