Thank You to the Fans

December 29th, 2012 - 11:00am by Von Miller

I just want to start out by thanking the fans for helping to vote me into the Pro Bowl this season.

It’s a great honor. To be voted by my peers and the fans, that means a lot to me. We have bigger goals than Pro Bowls though, so I’m hoping that we’re busy in New Orleans during that game.

Getting the sack record was great too, but we’re not caught up in personal accolades and accomplishments. We’re just taking it one day at a time and focusing on our goals as a team.

Our season boils down to this one on Sunday against the Chiefs. We definitely want to take it one play at a time like we’ve been doing.

It’ll be great to play at home in front of our fans in the postseason. The combination of the altitude and our great fans makes Sports Authority Field a tough place for opponents to play.

-Gig ‘em!

DB RH and Cat all three of you have a point that to me should be combined.

Teams do need to keep going and trying to score. But they shouldnt be doing it by going for it on 4th down or taking deep shots down the field. Do it by getting first down after first down. If you keep doing that DB its harder for the other team to score 21 points in 71 seconds. In the game where that happened the Niners let up. Didnt continue playing hard (Which our D does when we have a lead) that shouldnt be happening. You must play hard all game long. But going for it on 4th down when up by 30 points is unsportsmanlike same with taking 25+ yard shots down the field when you only need 10 for a first down.

With that when we are running out the clock I would like to see us pass for a first on 3rd down a bit more.

Anyways I asked this a few blogs back but it was missed due to a new blog. But those of you who are already starting to look at draft prospects there is one guy I just want to point out (Partially because I want to get other opinions on him) He is right now projected a late pick if not a CFA. His name is Miguel Maysonet and he plays for Stony Brook. Kid looks like he could be a steal. He has good vision and very athletic. But sometimes he can try to make an extra cut that ends up doing more harm than good.

I’m glad tomorrow is the last regular season game. I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’ll get a bye week with a damn good chance with getting home field throughout. This is the very reason we watch our team and its been a long time coming. BRING IT!! I’m not the slightest worried who’ll we’ll face in the playoffs, including the SUPER BOWL!! GO FOR KILL!! GET THAT RING!! BRONCOS 2012!!

  4. DaddyBronc says:

Good points AB – except I don’t think there is anything wrong with throwing that bomb if your receiver gets wide open – no matter the situation – another seven on the board is ALWAYS the best defense.

I do think going for it on 4th down – has to be on the table…(never when up 30 pts…I wouldn’t…) But I would, within 7 pts., one scoring drive, if we were already on our half of the field. I hate it when we punt for something that nets less than 30 yards.

GO FOR KILL!! GET THAT RING!! BRONCOS 2012!!

    I hear an echo. LOL

  6. DaddyBronc says:

At least you always know that echos are in agreement! LOL

  7. DaddyBronc says:

Sorry – it’s too easy to copy and paste…

  8. strandoftds82 says:

Is it kickoff time yet? Lets get this over with already!

  9. strandoftds82 says:

    So true.

  10. DaddyBronc says:

I predicted a blowout. Since the last game against KC was on 4 days rest…in KC…less injuries. (?) I figure at home with a full week…if Moreno can establish the run game…it may get painful to watch at the end like it did against Cleveland.

  11. alaskanbronco06 says:

DB if the WR is open thats one thing. But 90% of the time I have seen NE or Seattle do it this year the WR isnt open. They try to force it in a tight window. And up 7 going for it on 4th I would as well depending on where I was at on the field. But not up 30+ or even 20+.

  12. RH709 says:

    Well said AB.

I like this teams method instead. The offsense sticks to the run to burn clock. In the evebt the other team gets the ball back. The defense never seems to play “prevent”. Instead JDR and the defense go sack happy. This team was built to play with a lead and murder a QB when the opposing team abandons the run.

I played a ton of sports when I was young and I remeber being down 7-2 in a soccer game when I was 9 years old. There were five minutes left in the game and I was screaming at my teamates that had obviously givin up. “get in gear. this isn’t over till I hear that wistle.” So I see what you mean DB and I agree with the way you teach your kids.

  13. DaddyBronc says:

Don’t get me wrong – I wouldn’t prefer Carrol or Bellychick over Fox. (I think we need Kubiak with Elway again!!!)

  14. RH709 says:

I like kubiak and all but I vastly prefer the Manning offense over the kubiak/shanny offense.

  15. broncos4rmlakeelsinoreca says:

I Hope They Can Stop Hernandez And GrOwnkowski Go Von Go

  16. DaddyBronc says:

Oh, Lord help us… you had to go and say that!…

  17. broncos4rmlakeelsinoreca says:

Kc Is Hungry To Get Back At The Broncs So This One Might Be CloseI think

  18. DaddyBronc says:

I never did like Shanny all that well and of course Reeves drove me nuts…

(remember the Manning offense is boring, boring, boring!!! LOL)

I think Kubiak approaches the game more like a chess match – he could use a bit more charisma – I see Kubiak as Bellychick with character.

Our Cb’s Got Killed By Those 2 guys

  20. broncos4rmlakeelsinoreca says:

Our Run Game Is Gonna Be Stopped By Kc Defense

  21. alaskanbronco06 says:

Few weeks ago I cant remember who it was but he was saying if the Texans lost the division to the Colts then Kubiak should be fired.

  22. DaddyBronc says:

I think Gronk is going to attempt to come back tomorrow against Miami – it’s too soon…he should be on IR.

We have a different core of LB’s to handle Hernandez. We’ll be alright!!!

    (Welker OYOH???)

  23. DaddyBronc says:

    OTOH

  24. RH709 says:

Kubiak runs a version of the Ernhart-Perkins system, aslo known as run-and-shoot. It’s that addage you hear the announcers say when they say “Run to set up the pass”. The point of the system is to run it enough so that the safeties start cheating to the line. When they do, you go play action and burn them deep. Simple enough. Key point is you huddle, call the play, line up and run it.

The Manning offense instead lines up with the safe personnel in the same formation as often as it can. The preference is 11 personel (1RB, 1TE, 3WR). You don’t huddle at all, just step to the line. Manning reads the defense, usually the box count first. Favorable box count and he runs at you. Heavy box count and he will pass it.

As you can see they are very different even in the basics that I am describing.

If anyone wants to know more then I can explain some individual plays and why it takes a very talented, very cerebral QB to run Mannings offense.

  25. tlcat06 says:

I agree with AB… but I don’t agree with RH… we do have a preventative defense and it’s been driving me crazy. They better play full force in the playoffs, otherwise it will keep driving me crazy.

DB, alls I’m saying is you were giving me the points that both the Seahawks and Pats have scored and some of those points are garbage touchdowns that they’ve thrown with big leads. So your point that it should make me nervous… it doesn’t because Manning doesn’t play like that. Go here: http://www.colts.com/team/season-schedule.html And go back through his seasons from 1998-2010… You’ll see a ton of games won in the 30s and some in the 40s, but he just doesn’t do it on a regular basis. Some games he barely won at all, just like our KC game. It’s not his MO. Except when he kicked our butts in the playoffs on a regular basis (haha). I don’t know how you can be complaining about averaging 30 some points a game this year.

  26. DaddyBronc says:

RH – you’re sounding like an engineer!!! LOL The hardest part is remembering all of the signals. Moreno still doesn’t have it as of last game.

AB – that is too funny / cool!!!

  27. tlcat06 says:

AB, I thought it was YOU that said Kubiak should be fired if they lose the 1 seed!

  28. tlcat06 says:

DB, lots of the signals, audibles change week to week too… imagine trying to keep straight what “Omaha, Omaha” means one week to the next.

  29. alaskanbronco06 says:

No Cat I was repeating what someone from NFLN (I think) said. Lol My apologies for not being clear about that.

  30. RH709 says:

Yep. My degree is in Mechanical Engineering :)
I can’t. Help but to disassemble things.

  31. DaddyBronc says:

It’s not on Manning, Cat, It’s on Fox. How many times has Fox punted away a Prater shot at a 60 yarder +. and they get the ball on the 32 …that’s just dumb!!! (Allow me to add in the caveat that I don’t know Prater’s head – and how fragile it is or not – I must give Fox a pass knowing that he does know and I don’t. Worried a bit about Prater!)

  32. tlcat06 says:

Oh, okay, but I don’t mind crediting you. I doubt he gets fired, but I don’t see the Texans as a threat.

  33. broncos4rmlakeelsinoreca says:

    Gig Em

  34. tlcat06 says:

Ok, well can I just say that Peyton SHOULD have a little more control in the playoffs than he did in the regular season, at least I hope so. I agree about Fox, he can be too conservative and I’m mad that they never tried the 70 yard field goal, but Fox has never had a real elite QB before so I’m hoping that he’s learned to trust him a bit over the course of the year.

  35. alaskanbronco06 says:

Yea Cat i dont think he was going to. I wasnt the one who originally said it. But when I heard it, it did make me think. I mean they had a big lead on the division then lost it in a few weeks. Part of that is on the coach. I understand why the guy was saying that.

  36. alaskanbronco06 says:

DB that reminds me. I am still a little mad about the Raiders game few weeks ago were we had a shot at 60+ yards to end the first half by the refs took 10+ seconds just to spot the ball.

  37. tlcat06 says:

But if his conservativity loses a game for us in the playoffs I’m going to be disappointed. But it won’t be the end of the world. Honestly, these guys have been so incredible. I predicted an 11-5 record and we might be 13-3. More than I hoped for. I don’t think I can be disappointed with this season. It has been so much fun and I’m bummed that regular season is already over tomorrow. But let’s do this thing!! One game at a time!! Beat KC!

  38. tlcat06 says:

I see his point. I mean they were killing it earlier in the season and then their defense isn’t even ranked in the top 5 anymore? I know they’ve had injuries though so it’s not all on Kubiak. Shaub has struggled too. They should’ve lost that Lions game and we should be able to rest our guys tomorrow. Just saying!! LOL!

  39. alaskanbronco06 says:

It has been the whole team struggling with the Texans. Not all Kubiks fault.

If we wanted that #1 seed we wouldnt be able to rest lol.

  40. DaddyBronc says:

    Just sayin!!! Go Colts!!!

  41. tlcat06 says:

True, we’d have to win so the Pats wouldn’t have it. EITHER WAY! I just want them to have to come to us. LOL! GO COLTS!

  42. alaskanbronco06 says:

Lol Cat! I want that too. lol

  43. tlcat06 says:

Night guys. Gonna head to bed early. Have a nice evening and enjoy the game tomorrow if I don’t talk to you! :)

Horses ON PARADE TOMORROW!! Go Broncos and Go Colts!!!

  44. alaskanbronco06 says:

Lol have a good night cat.

  45. RH709 says:

When they lost Cushing it started to unravel. The Texans can’t make come backs if they get down by 14+ pts. They just aren’t built for it.

  46. DaddyBronc says:

Horses ON PARADE TOMORROW!! Go Broncos and Go Colts!!! Wild Horses and Baby Horses…needing lotsa Luck!!! Not really worried about the Wild Horses!!!

  47. DaddyBronc says:

Good words Cat – sorry – is there an echo in here??

  48. LakeArrowhead says:

Snowing here in Lake Arrowhead, CA. Can’t wait for Sunday. Going to throw some firewood in the fireplace and enjoy the games. I like the COLTS at home. I understand the Texans have never won there, this can be a good thing. Lets just take care of business at home and let the chips fall where they may.

  49. alex4serg says:

I’d like to say thank you to the players. the players came first laying their bodies on the line for love of the game back when no one cared.
