Taking in the Postseason

January 4th, 2013 - 1:43pm by Eric Decker

There’s playoff football on television, and I’ll be like most of you these next couple days — I’m going to watch it all. It’s gonna be nice to enjoy the weekend and just be at home, watching football. It’s kind of like you wait for the playoffs and it’s a fun time of the year. It’s the tournament. It’s one-and-done. I’ll be at home enjoying the games, being on my iPad studying, figuring out who we’re going to play and getting ready.

As far as us not playing this week, I’m very glad we earned the bye week. The hard work we put in all year, it paid off. We haven’t lost focus at all. We put in some good work this week and we’re excited about the break, just to get mentally and physically rested to get ready for next week.

Enjoy the games. I’ll catch up with you next week when we’ll know who we’re playing.

Yea. They I’ve read the article online! He has had trouble in the cold in the past throwing the ball but that glove is working wonders for him! The ball does become harder to grip in the cold air. Especially how thin the air is in Denver. He’s been playing flawlessly at home with that glove which is why I do not see us playing any different throughout the playoffs. All of our players are completely focused and the leadership we have on both sides of the ball with playoff experience in Champ and Manning…no wonder were the favorites! The thing I love is, our boys aren’t getting a big head on their shoulders!! I love this one game at a time mentality with not overlooking anyone!!!

  2. alaskanbronco06 says:

Very true freak! We arnt overlooking any game. Focused on the game in front of us. We did that last week when no players or coaching staff knew the outcome of the Colts Texans game till after we beat KC. They didnt want to lose focus or slack off because they got the bye. Other teams are overlooking games. Patriots focusing in on us and Ed Reed said they are focusing in on the Superbowl to have Lewis go out on top.

  3. broncosfreak718 says:

And that’s their own mistake that we’ll gladly take advantage of!!!

    Washington is falling apart

  5. broncosfreak718 says:

In other news, I would love to see McCoy get hired as a head coach some where that we we could sign Tom Moore as our offensive coordinator!!! He has said that he wants to come back as a coordinator again!! Would be cool to see McCoy go to Chicago where he would be paired with Cutler and Marshall!! Haha the Broncos North team!

  6. broncosfreak718 says:

Yea RG3 is finished. That leg just collapsed on him!

  7. broncosfreak718 says:

And I’m sure most of everyone on here knows but just in case Tom Moore was Manning’s Offensive coach in Indy!

  8. broncosfreak718 says:

I think someone will try to trade for Cousins during the off season!

  9. broncosfreak718 says:

With as many teams that needs quarterbacks this next year and with no sure fire picks in the NFL draft, imo, I would ask for a 2nd round draft pick for Cousins. I believe they would get it from one of the QB desperate teams

  10. DaddyBronc says:

Well…not feeling good about being right about the Seahawks. I hope ATL does a little better in the battle of the birds.

What the heck is a Seahawk anyway???

  11. broncosfreak718 says:

Haha, there’s been many people that’s wondered that same question Daddy.

I’m not sure but I believe the Seahawks have a good chance to beat the Falcons! Would love to see the Falcons lose their first playoff game. I see them being the only threat to us on the NFC side…maybe the 49ers as well depending on if they feel like showing up that day or not.

  12. broncosfreak718 says:

    LOL…I love that alaskan!!

Love to see Von having some fun with it!! He’s not being rude about it but just playing around. This makes me happy to see as well because you know with him talking it up like that that he will definitely have to back it up!!! I think he’ll have a huge game on Saturday!! I think he has 2 sacks which one causes a FF.

  13. broncosfreak718 says:

    Ab…

If you read below the article it says that that account isn’t his!

  14. alaskanbronco06 says:

Yea Freak. I just saw them come out and say it wasnt his. My bad. Got caught up in how funny it was lol

  15. broncosfreak718 says:

O well. I was going to say that really surprised me because I’ve never heard Von talk crap before.

  16. DaddyBronc says:

I think the Seahawks …should they survive are the only NFC team that can challenge the Broncos.

My reasoning is that every other team can’t put up a real challenge to Peyton Manning’s type of play. The Seahawks are playing inspired and emotional football. Their football game is nothing exceptional…but, it’s that:… emotional…in your face…knowledge that this is their year…that is so difficult for a technically great team to overcome.

  17. alaskanbronco06 says:

DB Seahawks also have two 6-3 Corners that obviously have the size to match Thomas and Decker.

  18. DaddyBronc says:

There is that – but I’m really not worried about the defense. Manning can dissect that just fine.

Did you see all the Washington drops? It almost seemed like a conspiracy. That’s what happens when you face and emotional team on a mission! I don’t think anybody thinks that SEA was actually the better team today…do they???

  19. dwalls2 says:

Hope this isn’t too much off the thread, but has any media said any thing more about Jeff Lewis’ passing? Not that it matters, but 39 seems unusually young for even a former athlete.

  20. DaddyBronc says:

I think that the Seahawk deserved 6th seed and really shouldn’t be a playoff team. Everyone recalls the ‘breaks’ they have gotten to get them where they are… (sound anything like the 2011 / 2012 giants???) Those guys finished saying it was just their year.

  21. alaskanbronco06 says:

DB with them having the size to match Thomas and Decker, Manning cant do some of the things he does with ball placement that he can do against most corners who dont match up well in size.

  22. DaddyBronc says:

walls – I searched…something is suspicious when no one will state cause of death….

  23. alaskanbronco06 says:

Both games today had lots of drops by the losing side.

  24. DaddyBronc says:

They may be able to shut out Decker but Thomas will still get a few big ones and Tamme and Dressen will have big days. I expect to be able to run a bit on them as well. The real ticket could be defensive scoring to change the emotional energy and tackles / sacks for a loss. -that’s how you take the fire out of a team like the Seahawks!

  25. DaddyBronc says:

Stokes and Willis may get theirs in the short game as well!

  26. DaddyBronc says:

Let’s hope ATL or Niner / GB put them out of our misery before we get there!!!

  27. Bronco_Turtle says:

Anybody want to change thier vote for OROY?

    mine still goes to Wilson…

  28. strandoftds82 says:

My vote is for Andrew Luck all the way!

  29. Bronco_Turtle says:

I hope RG III Knee Surgeries will be able to come back and be his good old self next season… I hate to see Shanny lose

    My Prediction
    Ravens 14
    broncos 38

  33. strandoftds82 says:

The Ravens don’t have a prayer! What a freaken joke!

  34. strandoftds82 says:

Buffalo Bills hire Doug Marone as their HC. Marone was a HC of Syracuse since 2009. His NFL roots are from Sean Payton. So two HC positions filled and 5 vacancies still left in the NFL.

Scoring Prediction Contest Results WK 17 Game 16!!!

Well, it’s been a week and we now know it’s the Purple Pansies that will be strolling into Denver for a beat down at the Hands of our Broncos in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs!!! HOORAH

And as for the Ho-Hum Final game drubbing we handed the KC Chiefs… Business as usual really!!!

    38-3 (41) Broncos

First Place this week is OrangeCrush9187! This was OC9187’s first entry of the season and he was Dead on the game total with a Score prediction of 31-10 (41)! Well played OC! You are batting .1000 my friend so 10 Points for you

Second Place this week and staying with the theme of this year contest we have three-way tie! Sndvl, The Dane (40) and Caramello (42) were all one point off the game total… They will all be receiving a 7 point push up the final Standings! Thank you good sirs

Third Place in the Final week of the Regular season was last year’s Champ OSS by being two points off the game total at 33-10 (43)! OldSouthStander came on very strong in the second half of the regular season and will be a force to be reckoned with next season for sure! Plus 5 points buddy! Congratulations!

Fourth Place this week was also a tie between DB 38-6 (44) and Alex4Serg 28-16 (44)! Three points for you both and Cyber Cookies for Daddy! Thank you for playing

Our Final Fifth Place finisher of the season was ScalptheChiefs 27-10 (37)! We definitely ‘You’d’ them last week! You will end the year with 1 (one) more point!!!

The Wall of Shame is virtually a thing of the past! So, one last honorary WOS goes to anyone that didn’t consider Russell Wilson for OROY! (Not saying he is the hands down winner, but of the three candidates he is the only one lacing them up next week… Just Sayin)

What an Amazing season to be a Bronco Fan! Thank you from all of us that have had the chance to enjoy watching this team come together and take care of business week in and week out!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Bronco Fans that took the time to participate in our Scoring Prediction Contest! I hope you looked forward to it every week as much as I did!

They are only talking crap to each other. Which I love!!! I hope Peyton runs a QB sneak for a touch down on Saturday. It would make my year. I have confidence that we aren’t looking past this and are taking it super seriously. We just need to find an answer for Pitta.

  37. sndvl says:

Its starting early! Which is surprising considering we took it to them in their house. Should be one of many great individual matchups within the game. Whatcha say champ?…

  38. tlcat06 says:

    RGIII will win ROTY.

  39. tlcat06 says:

Sndvl, what I love is that the Ravens will talk crap all week and the Broncos will say nothing but great things about the Ravens.

  43. sndvl says:

If there was ever a year to give a Co-Rookie of the year award this would be the one! All 3 are deserving.
A shame RG3 had the injury to deal with down the stretch & today.
Luck & the Colts just ran out of luck. Plus too many dropped passes.
The story continues for the 3rd rounder.

What a good look at the future. Because between the 3, they should be perennial playoff contenders. Maybe in a few years Oz can stake his claim with the talented bunch. But this upcoming weekend will belong to the future HOF signal callers. Which should be another treat of some great playoff football!

Congrats to The Dane for some awesome Broncos prognostication. Hats off to you Broncos Brother!

  44. sndvl says:

Yeah TIcat, you’re absolutely right. For years that squad has acted like a bunch of thugs. It will be nice to show them how true professionals handle business!

  45. sndvl says:

Hey turtle! That’s an odd name to pop up in SD. If he’s into it, it could work. He sure is making his rounds across the NFL landscape. Lol! I think it all depends on who they hire as a GM.
TRB asked me what I thought about McCoy landing there. What are your thoughts on it?

  46. broncosfreak718 says:

And they switched off with Bailey and Harris on Boldin. Bailey knocked down a couple of passes I remember when he was covering boldin and harris picked off Flacco when he threw to Boldin so they switched it up.

  47. Bronco_Turtle says:

I think that the AFC West would be a completely different division with Reid in KC and Holmgren in SD! Holmgren really helped to turn around the Seattle Franchise… I like to watch good football, and for the next couple Season while we have PM it won’t be a huge issue, but after PM hangs them up it could mean real trouble!!!

  48. dwalls2 says:

I told you so! I told you so! I told you so! Sorry, that’s three. Strange, but even when we were 2-3 I had a gut feeling we could win out. We were at the Chargers game week 6 and I was numb at half time, but MY! what a rush when they came back. Hope my gut doesn’t quit on me now, because it’s saying 3-0 from here.
