Sights Set High

December 22nd, 2012 - 10:41am by Von Miller

We cast our Pro Bowl ballots this week, which is something that I enjoy doing. It’s pretty cool to be able to vote for some of the guys who have performed well this season. We aren’t allowed to vote for our teammates, but we’ve played against a lot of top players at their position this year, so it wasn’t too hard.

It was great to get that honor last year as a rookie, but now we’re looking at stuff that’s bigger than the Pro Bowl – team victories and things like that. Pro Bowls are good, but we have our sights a little higher this year as a team.

Our next step is this Sunday against the Browns. They have a very talented running back in Trent Richardson. Stopping the run is always a goal of ours and it will be another difficult one this week. He’s a very good running back. It’s his first year in the league and he’s already in the upper class of running backs.

I played against Brandon Weeden in college and I remember him making all the throws and being a leader. That’s what it looks like he’s doing for the Browns this year.

We get to play our last two regular-season games at home and I’m pretty excited to come back in front of our fans. There’s no place like Sports Authority Field. It’ll be great to finish it out here.

Gig em!

Stay Focused. Stay Hungry. Get em Von…

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!!!!!!!!!!!

Pardon me Von…I need to chime in from the prior blog on the Tebow situation.

The Tebow camp has denied over and over that he was given a choice Jets v. Jags. Elway said that! He said it when he was in the mode to deflect responsibility, knowing that it wasn’t going to be a popular decision. Why would Elway choose Jets over Jags when Jags were offering a better package? My guess is that nothing was certain and the Jets got there first. For reasons we are all aware of…JE had to make certain the Timmy got outta “Dod”…Denver.

I hope Timmy never goes to the CFL but it would be good for the CFL. It’d make more money than ever before. Might make to whole league competitive. (BTW – Canadians – I thought the CFL field was wider rather than longer)

To Cat – why is a single mention that he was displeased with what has befallen him “whining”???

  3. AZBroncolover says:

DB, it’s both longer and wider… They have a “center field line” at what would be 55 yds from end zones… Also, 10 yds wider… A big passing league, so I don’t know if Tebow fits or not…

  4. killerkod says:

not only that, but there are only 3 downs as well………so he could be in for a lot of 2 and outs………haha

It is more of a pass happy league, but that might actually be a good thing for him. He’s got the arm, but not the accuracy. So maybe that experience might help.

  5. tlcat06 says:

Von I cannot wait to see you live tomorrow, go Broncos!!!

  6. tlcat06 says:

It’s whining because he knows better than to say ANYTHING at all. But that’s my opinion.

  7. DaddyBronc says:

Yes Cat…it is your opinion…LOL…and I’ll fight to the death to let you have your opinion and state it!!!

Thanks gents – I’ve never watched a single CFL game…but I’m sure I would if Tebow was playing. Still hoping for a spot with Jags, or behind Vick, RGIII, or Newton. A team that planned for a mobile QB with an adequate supply of them…could be interesting.

I still profess that I enjoyed last year far more than this… with the exception of the comeback game over SD.

  8. DaddyBronc says:

BBBP – Broncos face Pats in AFC championship Game.

    – SB will be against the Seahawks.

  9. killerkod says:

Well DB…..to each their own I guess. I have to say that I’ve enjoyed this season more than any in a long, long time. Our O is getting better and better and we can count on them to score 24+ points a game. Our D is as strong as it has ever been…..and one exciting unit to watch operate.

Last season, while the comebacks were great and all…….it was all painful to watch for the mostpart. There was some pretty ugly football played by our Tebow led O.

  10. Keith says:

Got my #58 jersey this week and I can’t wait to wear it this Sunday to our Broncos bar here in SF.

Stay focused… win these next 2 so you can sack Tom Brady in Denver!!

  11. DaddyBronc says:

For me… this year has been about the defense! The int’s, sacks, pick 6′s…along with the special teams play with Holiday…have out-shined the conventional conservative play of the offense.

    Reasons I think Seattle will be in it until the end;

    1. Health
    2. Russell
    3. Carrol is willing to risk it all on a ‘long shot’ play. That stuff makes the difference.

  12. DaddyBronc says:

I don’t foresee Manning needing “the drive” to get the win. LOL
I do suspect Manning will throw some errant passes due to pressure.

R U READY FOR SOME FOOTBALLLLLL!!!!

Miller’s going WEEDing. Gonna pluck it root and all!!!
Best thing of all is that Wolfe, Ayers, Adams, Bailey, Dumervil, Vickerson, and others are all just as likely to get theirs as well!!!

  13. rastus says:

I don’t care what anyone says, Elway and the coaching staff have done a fantastic job this year and last year. This year has been the most enoyable season for me since the 97 and 98 seasons…a long time ago. Last year…I can’t say it was enjoyable…fun and painful at the same time maybe.

I gotta agree with killerkod our defense played pretty good considering all the time they spent on the field.

I was a Tebow fan because he was a Bronco….but I was sooooooo happy to see him go. Enjoy Bronco fans!!!

  14. rastus says:

I really can’t believe we are still talking about him “Tebow” with the great players and team we have know. REALLY!!! Go get em Von.

  15. strandoftds82 says:

Cat, ya leaving tonight for Denver, or traveling in the morning. AND ENJOY THE GAME!!!!!!! YEE HAW!!!!!!

  16. DaddyBronc says:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000114874/article/report-tim-tebow-to-jaguars-a-virtual-certainty

Do not read if you can’t stand anymore Tebow info -

I hope the Jags get him cheap and build around him. O-line first!!!

  17. DaddyBronc says:

Hey Strand!!! You traveling for the holiday?

  18. strandoftds82 says:

    Nah, I’m staying home.

  19. strandoftds82 says:

I’d sure like to see Tebow in a Jags uniform next year. He’d turn that team around I think. It’ll take a few years but hey!

  20. DaddyBronc says:

Would you prefer the Lions or the Falcons tonight?

  21. strandoftds82 says:

I like the Lions, but since they are already out of it, I’ll take the Falcons! Lions season is over. I want to face the Atlanta Falcons in the SB. For pride. LOL

  22. CARAMELLOO says:

I really don’t like to compare but I must just for a bit. This team kind of reminds me of the Saints when they won the title (minus the bounty’s). The offense running game isn’t spectacular but it’s enough to get the job done. While the WR’s and TE’s is a pick you poison type of deal. Our D just like the Saints superbowl team that went 13-3 forces turnovers and have scored points. Also our special teams have stepped up when needed as well.

I know there are other teams who we could compare this team to but I used the Saints since I witnessed their superbowl run first hand. It pained me everyday and week to see them do so good while my Broncos were struggling!! Must say that it would be so great for my family to return back home for a visit and our boys are playing in the big game!!

  23. WieminCA says:

I can’t wait for tomorrow’s game … all 3 of my sons will be here, and we’ll have to go to the Pechanga Casino to watch the game, because there’s no local TV … some rule about the Chargers … but it’s a great venue over there, plus we can yell as loud as we want to … I don’t think all three of my sons and I have EVER watched a game together, so it’ll be something special … now for the Broncos to come thru and win BIG …

  24. RH709 says:

The win big thing shouldn’t be a problem.

  25. DaddyBronc says:

Wiemin – that, for me, is when football means the most – thanks for including us –

So ATL and Matty Ice earn the top spot for the NFC. (What I saw was a team often frustrated and not able to move the ball. The Broncos are far more explosive on both offense and defense.)

I love watching Megatron…for those who didn’t hear…Calvin Johnson now holds the single season passing yards record…passing up Jerry Rice mid third quarter tonight. That was cool!!! If Megatron wasn’t such a high character guy it wouldn’t make a difference to me – but watching that tonight was a special moment in football. He has the chance to go over 2000 yards next week.

  26. tlcat06 says:

I am in Cheyenne at my uncles tonight Strandsky!!! Gonna go to church and head out about 10 so we can get a good parking spot! I am so excited and so nervous. I solemnly promise not to participate in the wave tomorrow!! And I’ll be super duper quiet while the offense is working. I hope the game is fantastic and we win. They know how important that home field advantage game against NE will be and I expect an awesome effort tomorrow. Heard on ESPN that nobody wants to play us because we are the scariest team in the NFL… I like that. This year is so amazing… Ranks up there with 97 and 98 for me.

I too hope Tebow goes to Florida next year. It was what I wanted for him in the first place.

  27. tlcat06 says:

Kudos to Johnson… Be super cool if Peterson could beat the rushing record too!!! Epic year!!!

  28. tlcat06 says:

DB don’t think I didn’t see your “errant” pass comment… Doesn’t sound like you minded Tebow’s turf passes last year so I think you can deal with a few “errant” Manning passes. Sheesh. Can he never do enough for you to appreciate him?

  29. DaddyBronc says:

    Sheesh – I wasn’t picking on him…LOL… -NO!!!-

Cat – have a great game…stay warm!!!…I wish you an optimum billboard spot…You have my permission to participate in the wave as long as Manning seems to be allowing it. Shhh…LOL

  30. DaddyBronc says:

Vikings have a tough season to finish. I am with Cat hoping that A. Peterson is able to get 200 of the remaining 294 yards for the record, against the Texans this week. Vikings!!! Vikings!!! Vikings!!! Vikings!!! Vikings!!! Vikings!!! Vikings!!! Vikings!!!

  31. DaddyBronc says:

Broncos are currently ranked #18th in rushing yards. Anyone think Moreno can get us into the top ten this week? Anyone know how to eval how many yards that would take?

  32. WieminCA says:

Oh-oh … back up plan in the works … turns out there’s a 9 and a 5 year old to consider … don’t know how we’ll work this out … let’s hope the Broncos get 28 in the first quarter – then it won’t matter …

  33. tlcat06 says:

I knew he could never do enough! smh!!! No! I am not doing the wave, it is sooooo 1983! Lol

  34. DBFanFromAzViaMd says:

    Morning Brocos Country!

I keep hearing all this hype about Cleveland being 3-0 against AFC west teams.Maybe someone has mentioned this next bit of info and I missed it but our Broncos are 5-0 agaist the AFC west AND 3-0 against the north.

  35. DBFanFromAzViaMd says:

Not to mention our margin of victory is greater agaist all but KC.

  36. OTbroncos says:

Get the win, clean up some things we need to improve on, and most of all – stay healthy! I personally don’t care about rankings, or stats, and I’d actually rather us not get too overly hyped come playoff time. I previously wanted to see us step on the throat of our opponent, but I think it’s better to fly under the radar, however, it looks like its too late for that..

  37. OTbroncos says:

Great article! I’ve always liked smart players, and I’m pumped if that’s our new MO!

“Broncos scout Dave Ziegler walked into the office of the team’s new head coach with some options. One cornerback had track speed. Another had some size and played in a big college program. Yet another was smart and a four-year starter at Kansas.
“Take the smart one who started four years at Kansas,” John Fox said.”

    B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!

    Happy Gameday!!!

It was nice to find out the real story about Tebow… He in no way, shape or form asked to go to NY… the reason NY got him was because thy offered an extra pick (6th) and more Cash. Period. I wish him lots of luck Next year! but for now can we just stomp the Browns!!!

  39. Bronco_Turtle says:

We have 11 Wins… The rest of the AFC West has 11 Wins. I don’t think the fact that the Browns beat up on our division should concern anyone. Last week Richardson had 38 yards (Like Ray Rice!!!)

Denver is going to do Work and put this bad team to bed early!!!

  40. Bronco_Turtle says:

Props to Megatron!!! what an Animal! DMT now it’s your turn to show what GaTech football is all about!!! (Hope someone caught the irony there!!!)

    B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!

  41. Bronco_Turtle says:

Weimin, Enjoy the game with your Sons! I have been to that Casino :)

  42. OTbroncos says:

BT – the Jags actually offered more cash, $3M vs $2.53. It’s true the Jets also offered to swap a 6th for our 7th round pick, but the Jags 4th round pick was higher overall than the Jets 4th round pick, based on the previous seasons record. The Jags offer was better, but it was close enough for Elway to give him a choice. It’s completely understandable that Tebow doesn’t want to say publicly he didn’t choose his hometown…

  43. sndvl says:

    Gameday! Lets do this.

All I want for Christmas is a win today. (If they want to stuff my stocking with a Viking win and a NE loss, that works too)…

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. Bronco_Turtle says:

OT.. I read yesterday the Jets offered more cash. Do you have a source? I don’t believe he was offered a choice, at least that is the word from Tebow’s camp… Doesn’t matter really, just sick of hearing guys like Bay blame Tebow’s situation on Tebow.

    What up sndvl!!! Happy Gameday

  45. alex4serg says:

bronco sunday. what better than 9 in a row?

  46. RH709 says:

DB. The team would need to rush for nearly 300 yards to move our yards per game numbers enough to be with the top ten teams.

  47. RH709 says:

Thats offensive Cat. Im ftom 1983.

  48. RH709 says:

    10 in a row

  49. Bronco_Turtle says:

OT.. I had read that before. I’m trying hard to dig up the article from yesterday that has contradictory facts. It was from Shcefter or Werder, but I clear my Cache now everyday and I’m having a hard time finding it
