Rematch Week

November 15th, 2012 - 5:16pm by Eric Decker

Well, it’s rematch week for the first time this season. San Diego heads to our place this time around. I think as far as the game goes, we’ve both seen schematically kind of what we do, but there are always adjustments that need to be made. A division game is always a game that’s important. I think our focus is one game at a time. This is our focus. This is our one game that we’ve got to go out and win.

Looking back at the last time we played San Diego, we got beat 24-0 in the first half and scored 35 in the second half to win. Going into this week, I’m thinking more about the second half, for sure. I think just what we did right and how we made plays when they were there and how we were consistent with our jobs individually to collectively be successful.

At the same time, I think it’s important that you learn from history so you don’t repeat it. That’s kind of a slogan where the mistakes you make, you’ve got to call yourself out. If you made a mistake, admit to do it and don’t do it again. Every game you’re going to have mistakes. You’ve just got to find a way to not repeat that mistake.

This week is important because San Diego, they’ve had our number at home. We haven’t for a long time swept them in division play. This is definitely an important game. Division games always place you at a point where you’re able to make the playoffs or not. It’s about winning your division.

We’re definitely looking for all the support we can get at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. I think every week when we come back home off a road trip, it’s nice to have that support. That noise and comfort level of being in front of your hometown fans is definitely welcome.

Catch you next week.

So this time you all ought to score 35 points in each half, 70 points would be a real laugher!1

  2. tlcat06 says:

Can we start a Keep JDR campaign? McCoy can go… Keep JDR!!!

  3. tlcat06 says:

Good luck this week, Eric. Don’t let the 40 yard line trip you up ;D

  4. tlcat06 says:

Hey is anyone else bugged by how awful the Jets have been to Timmy this week?

  5. baylinorcrush says:

When you go to New-York it’s to be expected, folks are a lot nicer down in Jacksonville.

Wasn’t it Tebow who picked New-York instead because he would have a larger audience?

    Morale of the story:

Be careful what you wish for…

  6. dwalls2 says:

Says a lot about the character of the Jets organisation. Thank goodness our organisation is what it is.

  7. tlcat06 says:

LOL… That’s awesome, Bay! Still doesn’t make me like the Jets. My heart hurts a bit. Tebow did win for us and did make it possible for us to have Peyton. I don’t like to see them not using him properly or his teammates ragging on him when all he does is stink at practice, which the whole world knew, and that team stinks on game day. Fix yourself before you start ragging on a guy who is NOT the reason you’re losing. *off my soap box*

It’s funny how Decker keeps talking about focus, focus on the field is maybe where he should apply it most. But he is doing great for a young one and I cannot be complaining about his production but he is just not to the level of Eddie Mac though; often hear the comparison because of the #, yet to see it. Eddie would catch most everything that landed in his hands. On the good side Decker takes nowhere the punishment Eddie used to, that guy was like a car wreck waiting to happen, constantly taking the hardest hits dead on… and getting back up!!! He was amazing that way, what a tough player, it’s nice to see he is doing the Bronco games on KOA now, couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

  9. BRONCOSONMINE says:

    GO GET EM DECKER,BRONCOS

  10. AZBroncolover says:

hey, Bay… I can always remember Morton walking slowly back to the huddle, looking down, with his hands on his hips… Thanks for the memories…

  11. baylinorcrush says:

I just simply wrote Tebow off as a QB because; one he is not on my team anymore, two he is not a legitimate one in pro ball. So whatever happens to him I’m sure he’ll be ok with it, football is not his passion anyway, missionary work is and he’s got money, he’s got fame, he’s got a bigger following than God, gosh why would I waste my time worrying about a single thing about him, he makes my life seem miserable, LOL.

  12. dwalls2 says:

I don’t understand the apparent knock on McCoy. I would hope he and JDR would both stay for several years. One of the keys to our sucess in 96-99 was the coaching staff staying intact. Kubiak was courted during that time, but chose to stay.

  13. baylinorcrush says:

AZ, glad to see some more old timers here, oh yeah, the memories of our first trip to the SB, priceless and never quite equaled other than when we won our first. We were some of the lucky few to witness both…

  14. baylinorcrush says:

McCoy is not anything special, even the Dolphins turned him down for HC, and now with Manning here he is more of a hindrance to him than anything. Manning being the politically correct guy he is he always says good calls were made but if you see his demeanor on the field when plays don’t go good he is always really peed off about it looking at the sideline, and why does he always do best in the no huddle, mainly because he gets to do it his way more. I mean losing McCoy with Manning at the helm wouldn’t even be an inconvenience, one of the easiest job to replace, just my honest opinion.

  15. AZBroncolover says:

When we beat the Faiders for the trip to the bowl, I almost cried… One glorious day…

  16. baylinorcrush says:

Look, we replaced McD, a dozen DCs, a Rick Tuten of 14 years, GM Xanders, I mean those are huge moves that only a guy coming in like Elway could have had the nerve to do and it’s all coming out smelling like roses. We can improve at OC is all I’m saying, but with Manning who really cares, if Manning tells Elway he is cool with McCoy then he’ll be here, if not it’s just another change, out with the old in with the new. Just love the way Elway is running the organization now, but nothing like Mr. Bowlen does I’m sure, he must feel like he’s gone straight from hell (McD) to heaven, he can just be on a long well deserved vacation now, good for him. And I bet he swore to never ever hand pick another HC himself, LOL.

  17. baylinorcrush says:

That Raider AFC championship game was one of the best ever, was able to find a DVD of it, still watch it now and then, gives me so many great memories, nothing like when you first get to the top, specially after all the losing years. Now I’m very happy for all the young fans who have a chance at making memories that will last them a lifetime, I hope it’s coming…

  18. baylinorcrush says:

No Decker groupies tonight, what’s up with that?

  19. tlcat06 says:

Bay, I agree 100% about McCoy.

  20. tlcat06 says:

I love Decker, but I want you guys to realize at he has hand to change his system three times in two years like everybody wake and has had absolutely no consistency. Without consistency I don’t believe you can be successful and Decker and Demaryius haven’t had any of it. If they’re playing this well this year, imagine next… All I’m saying.

  21. baylinorcrush says:

I know you do, I’m starting to have you pretty well figured out Bronco football wise and you are pretty smart for a girl, haha/joke.

  22. tlcat06 says:

Wow. My iPad destroyed that sentence. It should say “he has had to change his system three times in two years like everybody else and has had absolutely no consistency”

  23. tlcat06 says:

Bay, go back and look. I have been trying to get McCoy and Fox to let Peyton be Peyton for months and they’re starting to realize it a bit, but some of the calls are still bothering me, so they have to be bothering Peyton. I’ve been a Bronco fan my whole life and I’m thrilled that they are doing some things the Bronco way still, but I’ve been a Peyton Manning fan for as long as I’ve really paid attention to the Broncos and understood football. He is a genius and no one knows football better than him. He is also a team guy and he’s going to do it your way, but honestly, his way is most often better.

  24. baylinorcrush says:

Unfortunately consistency is a rare thing in the NFL nowadays. It’s more of a luxury, better perform to your best abilities in whatever fire you’re thrown in. And he is catching balls from Manning now, not Tebow, I would imagine no receiver in their right mind could ask for more…. But he is ok in my book as I said, he just needs to grow up a bit football wise, I think that’s the biggest issue with him, but we already had that conversation….

  25. still1972 says:

One thing i remember about Craig Morton was given time in the pocket I don’t recall to many QBs that could deliver a prettier perfect spiral pass than he could. That also made me think of the M&M connection,Morton to Moses

  26. sndvl says:

Why would anybody want to leave the organization at this point? Not even a full two years into the Elway rebuild and the sky is the limit. My guess is this will again be a desirable destination for years to come…

    Good luck Sunday #87.

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!!!!!!

  27. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah Manning is your football idol and I fully understand that. He can run an offense better than any O no doubt, I don’t think you’d get much of an argument about that, just look how he operates at the line of scrimmage, constantly adjusting his play and re-aligning his O barking out signals and driving everybody crazy who is watching and is not a fan of Manning’s team. It looks like a thing of beauty when he does it on your team and it looks like a horror show when he plays against your team. I have now been on both sides of that and that’s exactly what that feels like, you on the other hand have always been a fan of him so you don’t know how crazy he can drive the opposing team and their fans, it’s maddening, LOL!

  28. tlcat06 says:

Yes,mi understand. However moving from a read option offense to a Manning led offense is like painting with water colors or painting the Mona Lisa. LOL

  29. tlcat06 says:

It drove me just as crazy to watch him beat the Broncos. Don’t you for a second think that I didn’t hate him those days. I know what it’s like, but I also never held on to it for long. There was no point. Sure, he beat us int he playoffs, but I still had someone to cheer for the next week, as weird as that is.

  30. tlcat06 says:

“Painting with water colors to painting the Mona Lisa” wow. iPad hates me tonight for sure.

  31. baylinorcrush says:

Money and title will get anybody to leave any NFL job at anytime unfortunately, but considering how bad FDR’s time in Jacksonville ended I would give it a 60/40 chance that he turns down a HC job next year to remain in Denver, point is he is far from gone.

  32. tlcat06 says:

    FDR hahaha! LOL

  33. RH709 says:

Cat, your broncos/football knowledges flat out amazes me. I bet you make some dude real happy.

  34. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah I’ll give you that, you are a step above the Tebow so called Bronco fans, they kept saying they loved the Broncos well before Tebow was here, and POUFF!!! now they are all gone!!! LMAO.

  35. tlcat06 says:

Haha… No. Unfortunately no, RH709. But thanks I appreciate you saying that.

  36. tlcat06 says:

I love Tebow for who he is, he’s just not a great QB and I was like a little girl Christmas morning on March 19th.

  37. baylinorcrush says:

Personally I could never put up with my wife if she knew as much as I do about the Broncos, it’s like golfing with your wife, some things are just not meant to be, not with this guy anyway, haha. Guys’ stuff, I need to have a few of those, and my man cave too, which is the Orange Crush, always there for me in time of needs.

  38. tlcat06 says:

Yeah I figure I will be the football guru of my house if I ever get married. People think I’m crazy because girls just aren’t supposed to like football.

  39. RH709 says:

My wife likes football and loves the Broncos but subscribes to the espn pundints way of thinking. I find John Clayton, Bill Williamson and the lot rather appauling and thier knowledge of the game laughable. So natural the wife and I like the same team but wildly disagree with may aspects of football.

  40. baylinorcrush says:

You better hook up with a nerd intellect type of guy who could care less about football. I’m of the kind who believes that differences are key to a good relationship, too much of the same ends up driving everybody crazy. At least that’s working for me with my current wife, we complete eachother because we are nothing alike hence we are constantly learning. With the previous wife our endless temper and interests similarities ended up forming the A-bomb, LOL.

  41. dwalls2 says:

Does anyone have the recipe for Orange Crush Pie? I am really getting nostalgic.

  42. tlcat06 says:

I have learned the most by reading everything possible. I read everything Broncos I can from as many places as possible.

  43. baylinorcrush says:

But it took many years for me to figure all that out, unfortunately we all have to spend a lifetime figuring out what’s best for each of us.

Experience is only ridiculed by the ones who don’t have any.

That was pretty good, I gotta remember that one.

  44. tlcat06 says:

I want to find someone who at least likes the Broncos and doesn’t hate them! LOL

  45. baylinorcrush says:

Raider fans are out then, LOL.

  46. sndvl says:

Funny you mention the raider fans baylin. Went on a couple of dates with this really great *ahem* lady in August. Lawyer even. On the third date, found out she is a die hard fan of that forsaken team. Haven’t been on a 4th date…

  47. CARAMELLOO says:
