Making a Difference

October 6th, 2012 - 8:50am by Von Miller

This week I wanted to talk to you guys a little bit about my foundation. Von’s Vision is an organization that helps underprivileged kids who can’t afford glasses or contact lenses. It also helps teenagers that are eligible for Lasik surgery.
You can check my Twitter account for details.

It’s something I really identify with, because I’ve been wearing glasses since like the third grade. And I’ve been wearing contacts since the fourth grade. I know how it is to have to pay for contacts and stuff. And for adults to have to scrap up money to pay for Lasik surgery, it’s real expensive.

We have another tough opponent on the schedule this week with a trip to New England.

It feels great to be able to play without a cast this time around against the Patriots. We have a bad taste in our mouth from last year so we definitely want to go in there and play really well this weekend.

We just have to be mentally sound and cut down on the mental errors. They’re a great team and they’re going to make plays. We just have to make plays too.

Gig em!

Thank you for all your community involvement… We know how busy you are with the team, but to take the time for the kids is something special…

Now leave the nice, friendly guy here in Denver, and take animal Von to NE and kick some butt…

You guys in the D are really coming along… Have a good game…

  2. sndvl says:

Haha! I just posted a comment on the last blog entry and mentioned you will finally play against these guys with a healthy hand. I expect you’ll have a far greater impact this time around. Get to Brady early. And often. Best of luck Von!

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!

  3. raidrhadr says:

Ok. I’m officially done with DJ Williams. Even when he comes back I don’t think he will impact the team.

  4. kingtno says:

Be nice to have superbowl tickets when the broncos go to the bowl this year!

  5. wolfedom says:

Thanks for all you do Von. Everyone wins when we all contribute. Now, go contribute a butt whippin on Brady.

  6. Justin says:

I would love our company to give a donation to help the children with vision..

I know our D is way better than the pats! So if u guys keep them to 24 we have a W, but if this gets into the 30′s, than it will be a shootout and whoever score last will win! The Madden SIM Final score is Broncos 31-28.

  7. gus quinonez says:

Good luck Broncos! I bleed blue and orange!

  8. BroncoMomma says:

Sounds like a great and really unique program! As a person who has to wear contacts or glasses to even walk across the room, I can’t imagine having to let my children go without if they to were in need of glasses. Well done.

Aside from that – Hoping for a big W tomorrow! Know you can do it. Go Broncos!!!!

tear Brady a new one miller!!

  13. baylinorcrush says:

    Von Miller:

The Clark Kent look off the field, Superman on the field!

    BTW, DJ MUST GO!!!!

How many games suspension is enough?

    9 not enough???

Let’s keep him on the roster for the playoffs? What a joke!

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

  14. alaskanbronco06 says:

Lets see you put the pouter Brady on his back a few times and consistently give him something to think about!!!!

As for last blog everyone needs to know that BBs injury reports are like that because a few years ago he got into trouble for not putting players on the injury report when they were hurt so he puts every player who has something hurt or bothering them on it now.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

Good memory, I remember that, but either way he does it he is doing it to confuse the opposing coaches, withholding injuries you have to get ready to face everybody even so you won’t, embellishing injuries and you don’t know who to really prepare for, same end result. Belichek mind games all the same.

  16. john perez says:

Good luck Von, as always we will be watching and cheering you on! GO BRONCOS!

  17. baylinorcrush says:

BTW, we need the front 4 to put the pressure on Brady as Leonhard eloquently stated on a previous blog, because if we have to bring it from the other two levels Brady will pick us apart. Doom and Wolfe are going to have a great game.

  18. baylinorcrush says:

    Meaning to win this one.

  19. alaskanbronco06 says:

Bay that is very true. Its all just a mind game. But thats why its like that now. NFL thought they were helping by having actually put injuries on it instead of withholding them but like you said its still the same thing now.

  20. sndvl says:

Belicheat and his mind games… Anybody remember when Shanahan got in trouble for his injury reports?

They say its a copycat league!

  21. sndvl says:

I had to dig for this… Lol

    N.F.L. Investigates Shanahan Lie

The National Football League is investigating whether Denver Coach Mike Shanahan broke a rule when he lied about quarterback Jake Plummer’s injury in San Diego on Sunday.

The Broncos initially said Plummer sustained a concussion in the second quarter of their 37-13 victory over the Chargers. After the game, Shanahan announced that Plummer had separated his right shoulder.

Shanahan said he lied because the Chargers would have had an advantage if the backup Steve Beuerlein had been injured and Plummer had been forced to re-enter the game. Denver carries two quarterbacks on its roster.

The league spokesman Greg Aiello said the league expected injury information to be as accurate as possible. Rules for reporting injuries during games are not as specific as pregame injuries, which require a designation: out, doubtful, questionable or probable. Shanahan could be fined if the league determines he broke a rule. (AP)

  22. OrangeTsunami says:

The real reason the injury report was made public is to try and prevent this information leaking out to certain people in the gambling world. By making a teams injury report available to everyone, no one has “inside information” which would give them an advantage in a wager that others might not have access to.

  23. OrangeTsunami says:

Eat ‘em up Von! With or without sacks, I hope we keep putting hits on Brady all game long. This is clearly the way to beat him, and I know we have the personnel to get it done. We finally have an offense that can keep our defense fresh, and control the clock, and that fact alone give us a MUCH better chance to get some revenge in Foxboro!

  24. BRONCOSONMINE says:

    GIG’EM..LESSGO BRONCOS

  25. bronco grandma section 521 says:

I love you Von Milller!!! I will be in section 118 today waving my Orange Flag while wearing your jersey! You’re awesome man. My grandmother was a diehard bronco fan, she died this year in April. However, in the spirit my Grandma Liz “Go knock his socks off” and “Intercept the ball; kill the Quarter Back”.

    Good Morning Broncos Country!!

    IT’S GAMEDAY!

First off…….Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! Looking forward to some turkey and then a Broncos victory.

It’s gonna be a barn-burner and I believe we have what it takes to beat the Pats. This is the biggest game of the weekend and it would be great to head to SD with a win coupled with a Charger loss in NO. I can’t see the Saints dropping 5 in a row.

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!

  31. killerkod says:

    EAT GREEDY VON!

  32. jfreck says:

It is great to help kids see better. Now go out and make Tom Brady’s sight a little blurry.

What we want is for Von Miller to be to Tom Brady as Derrick Thomas was to John Elway. Only this would be much sweeter.

    Happy Game Day Broncos!!!!!!!!

    Gameday!

While I won’t be having turkey, I’m making tacos, Bronco dip and getting ready to roast some green chilis. Chilis are courtesy from my aunts garden in Iowa. Not Pueblo or Hatch, but hey….it’s the best I could get my hands on here in Chicagoland.

I wish I was eating at your house today!!sounds yummy…

  36. Jessnbrook says:

    Lets GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!
Von you are a true leader of this D on and off the field, and to help kids, is so awesome!!!!!! I just chopped all my hair off and donated it to locks of love for the memory of my aunt, I want a child to have the opportunity to have hair, I am so willing to help in any way VON. I have to worn glasses since I was a child and know the expense it takes to get glasses for yourself. So its awesome that you are taking a experience of your own and turning it around to help others. Its always a great feeling to help people, not a better or more rewarding feeling than that. So thank you for that.
Go out there and eat the patriots alive…. all of us in COLORADO will be watching and praying it comes out in Orange and Blues favor!!!!! Pressure Brady and you should be good. Its going to be a difficult test for you as a Defense but I thing ya’ll can do it. BTW Texas A&M won last night!!! Awesome, that should motivate you!
    Good luck buddy!!!!!!!!

This has all the makings of a great day, ESPN NFL countdown has Joe Walsh on the show right now and he is playing football songs including the Elway Rocky Mountain one from way back and he is promoting his new album “ANALOG”!!!! Basically said digital sucks, couldn’t agree with him more and they even went to the Patriots stadium and the guy there doing the pregame show showed up with one of Joe’s album under his arm “The smoker you drink the player you get”, LOL, and Boomer told him good job, you brought your record collection, keep that vinyl going, and Tom Jackson even chimed in about Joe’s song for that Bronco game about Elway and the Broncos (in 97 or 98) saying it was his anthem for many years. Like I said this is setting out to be a good day, win or lose. Long live analog!

  38. baylinorcrush says:

And GO BRONCOS while I’m at it, LOL!

  39. baylinorcrush says:

  41. baylinorcrush says:

    Just heard a good joke:

Tebow has a new nickname ” Parsley”

Because with the Jets he is not really part of the meal, he is just there for show!

  42. wolfedom says:

Thanks for the video Bay, got my blood boiling.

  43. OrangeTsunami says:

Happy game day y’all. Time to shock the world baby!

    We need to:

    1) Control the clock. We need to have time of possession tilted in our favor. Keep our defense fresh, and keep theirs on the field. Long, methodical scoring drives.

    2) Ball security. Don’t turn it over, and how about some take aways??

    3) Limit the big plays. Sound tackling and good safety play is critical.

    4) Get the run game going, and take what the defense gives us. I loved how Peyton checked down last week, but I could see us go deep a few times against their CB’s.

  44. OrangeTsunami says:

And last but certainly not least:

    5) Put a hurting on Brady.
