Editor’s Note: This season, DenverBroncos.com will feature two player blogs. Wide receiver Eric Decker will check in with a new post every week. Below is his first entry of the season.

What’s going on, everyone?
This is Eric Decker, and I’m excited to take over a blog this season. I’m going to check in once a week and give you guys a little insight as the season rolls on. I’m going to try to take you behind the scenes as much as I can and answer any questions you have.
It’s fun this time of year, because it’s been a great offseason. Everybody’s been working extremely hard to get to this point. We feel good about this team and we’re excited to kick it all off this Sunday against Pittsburgh.
We’re really counting on you guys to come out to the stadium and make sure we have that home-field advantage.
Pittsburgh’s definitely a tough team, and we’re going to have a test in front of us. But we’re excited for it and we know you guys are excited, too.
What I want to do at the end of each post is make sure to let you know you can ask me questions, and I’ll answer some of them each week next time I write a blog.
What do you want to know?
Looking forward to talking with you every week.

Mr. Decker,
Thank you for taking the time to let us fans feel included.
We all know (thanks to NFL network ) that you have had one of the best relationships as a reciever with Peyton Manning. How do u guys feel as an offense this year as opposed to last year?
Hi Eric, so glad you are a Bronco. What have you seen to be the biggest strides the offense has taken from a year ago to this year, besides the obvious change at quarterback?
I’m so excited about this season. I’ve learned at the end of last season that your my dads kid brother. Joe decker is my papa although I never meet him. My dAds Dwight decker and were just so proud of you. My son 13yrs old has joined the football team on the big island of Hawaii, it’s hes first season never played before and he’s inspiration comes from he’s uncle Eric. Just wanted to share with you how proud we are and it’s nice seeing our name flash up on the flat screen. You have a huge family here that roots for you. God bless you with season. Hopefully we can connect some how. Aloha Barbrarose Decker
Do u have a pre or post game ritual?
very short.. what was the conversation with ED McCAFFREY like when asking to wear number 87!? My favorite player in the history of the game is Easy ED and I always wore his number, 87. Now that its you i am proud to continue the 87 tradition with DECKER on the back. LOVE IT. it would also be a great birthday present to hear your response to this question. GOOD LUCK SUNDAY! IL BE WATCHING FROM ROCKFORD IL!!
Hey Eric, thanks for the blog time. I got some info 4 ya, Your on my FFL team, yep, you sir are a DIKDRAGON. Congratulations. The pick was a nobrainer 4 me, but mocked by others. What I need to know is, Eric, are you as excited as we are about you being a DIKDRAGON? I certainly hope so, & to U, A Mike High Salute.
What is your normal game day routine? Is there a difference when the team is on the road or at home?
Hi Eric,
I want to know how effective do you believe that the run game wil be this season? With all of the attention on Peyton the running game gets overlooked.
Eric,
I’m sooo excited for the season!! It is so great to have this connection to the team. I live about 4 hours from Denver and have managed to make it out to a few practices
I will be visiting California and am looking to make it out to MNF in October. Go Broncos!!!~Marisa
Hey Eric!
So I have to Say I am super stoked about the Blog, I am a huge Bronco fan, and have been one since I was 2 years old. Just turned 27 on Sunday the 2nd, So For quite some time now. What is a Big Goal for you every year as a Player. What do you strive for. I know as a team you guys are pushing for the big Kahuna, but I am asking, for you, as Eric Decker, What do you Strive for as a player each game…… Just got to throw this out there. Have you on my Fantasy Team Decks, SO Bring it Baby!!! You and Peyton have to SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!! Thought that would bring a smile to your face. Have a good game Sunday! Hope to hear from you soon!
How has the rookie class impressed you this year?
I want to know two things. Did you want Ed Mccafrey’s jersey because you liked him and that your skills were like his? I mean you both can take a lickin of a hit and still come down with the ball, and you got great speed and great hands, and two what was your reaction when you knew Manning was on the team?
So EXCITED!!! Big fans here!
How AWESOME is it to have your long hair? Haha… GO BRONCOS!
You and Peyton seem to have a natural connection. Can’t wait to see you on the field Sunday!
Hi Eric,
My 9 year old son, Branden would like to know how you prepare for a football game on gameday. It’s his first year in football pads and is excited to hear what you do on gameday to prepare.
CAN YOU BRING BACK THE MILE HIGH SALUTE????? T.D. MADE IT FAMOUS, E.D. BRING IT BACK??
Huge Bronco fan here!! My favorite Bronco player was a different 87, Ed McCaffrey, now looking forward to watching the new 87 catch a lot of passes from Peyton !! Go Broncos!! Where did you play college ball?
-First of all, thanks for doing this. I think it’s pretty awesome.
-Second, I second MileHigh87′s comment about bringing back the Mile High Salute.
-Lastly, I am in the military, currently stationed in California. I’ve got tickets to the away game when you guys come here to San Diego in October, right behind you guys mid-field. How could I go about getting an autograph or two?
With Peyton Manning behind the ball, how much has the energy and confidence of team changed?
What is a memorable moment with teammates off the football feild? Like did you go to dinner with a few guys that was really fun, maybe hit the theater, bowling ally…etc
Hi Eric! I just had to let you know I’m a Broncos fan in Oakland Raiders territory! Look for the crazy girl in orange in the black hole when you play here in December! Can’t wait for you to stomp on em!
My question, what do you like best about traveling? Least?
Go Broncos!
Hey Eric! Just curious, do you guys wear new uniforms every game? Everyone always looks for fresh at a new game after getting do dirty the game before!! Just dying to know!
Go Broncos!!!
Great to see you checking in every week. My son and I will be decked out in our 87 jerseys on Sunday from the St. Cloud area. Any chance you will get back to Cold Spring anytime soon? My son has been wanting to meet you for the last couple years. Thanks for making us proud here in MN. Really enjoyed watching you in the CLC and at the U!
Are you Peyton’s # 1 receiver?
I love being a Bronco fan! Good Luck on Sunday.
Hey Eric, we’re big Bronco fans in our house (we live in SoCal). I was really impressed with the off season work you did when Peyton Manning joined the team. It helps me as a dad and a coach to show the kids that hard work and practice pay off! Good luck this season, and thank you for being a great role model!
Hello from Korea, Eric!
I was wondering how you’re going to celebrate your 3rd TD catch in the first half this Sunday
But seriously, what receiver (past or present) you try to mold your game after, and which receiver (past or present) you feel you are most similar to. Also, what area of your game do you want to improve on the most this season from last? Thanks a lot for taking the time.
Hi Eric, when will I be able to buy a shirt with your number and name on it?
Colorado is home turf but live in California. I have three hopes for the season: 1) Offense stays on the field of play 60 percent of the time 2) Defense controls the tempo of the opponents and 3) Our fans give the quarterback a chance to settle in before expecting him to become the Great John Elway. Really, the fans have driven off many a good QB. Daffy Duck once said Patience is seldom found in human but never found in a duck, I think that to be true of Bronco fans as well. Good Luck and Play all 60 minutes.
Mr. Decker,
I first have to say its exciting seeing you get a chance with a legitimate offense, was hoping you were a Broncos when you were still a Gopher. I think you a certainly a probowl wideout… On to my question however, when you were choosing your number here in Denver was there a reason you chose 87?
Im currently stationed in Korea so waking up early to watch the games could be rough but because Ive always bled orange and blue it comes easy to me. I completely agree with all that mention a Mile High Salute should be brought back. Quite frankly…I miss it! Im not trying to boast by any means about being military but when I see it, it makes me feel like im not as small as it sometimes seems. Do you think you could give a salute out after TD’s? Sure would put a smile on many peoples faces!
E. Deck!!! We are all looking forward to big things from you! I want to know what your football fantasy is, like catching a game winning pass in the Superbowl, or laying a perfect crack-back on Ray Lewis (probably not the best idea!)… anyway, that’s my question, if you could pick one football moment to script just the way you wanted it, what would it be?
B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!
3 MORE DAYS TO MAKE YOUR PICKS!!! SEASON PREDICTIONS END SATURDAY 12M SAME AS THE WEEKLY SCORE CONTEST!
Is there any current WR’s that you think is a fair comparison to you right now?
My man Decker!!! Been watching you since you were playing with Minn Gophers, gotta say you keep getting better.
But all compliments aside, here’s my Million dollar question for you, with me being a huge Bronco fan and going back to the good ol’ days with Elway throwing the ball, I have to know this one little fact about you to truly see if you are what I know you are:
“Did you choose the number 87, simply because you wanted to or but because you know my boy Ed Mccaffrey was rocking that jersey with the bronco’s?”
Hey Eric- love that you guys are doing a blog! I would like to know who has been your greatest influence and what has been your greatest football moment?
Go Orange Crush!
sure are a lot of new people on here. actually a little too many is this he who shall not be named. if not then welcome new bronco bros and gals.
Hey eric! Experts are saying denver is going to go 8-8 this year. I think there completely wrong
I see 14-2. What do you think about that? What.do you you see your self doing this year with Manning then last year with Tebow? Have you gotten stronger as a receiver?
Hey Eric! This is awesome that you are bringing the fans together! I drafted you in my fantasy football league and hoping for big things! Do you play? and how do you think you are going to do fantasy wise this year?
Hey Eric, awesome to see your taking over a blog this season. You were one of my favorite players coming out of college, so as you can imagine I was thrilled when the Broncos selected you in the draft. I’ve got two questions for you.
1.) How much of a leg up will it be for you after spending so much time with Peyton this offseason?
2.) We all know winning a Superbowl is goal/priority #1 for every player on every team at this point in the season. However do you have any personal goals your looking to accomplish this year?
Have a great game, I know we’re all looking forward to seeing our boys in orange kick start a great season on prime time this Sunday!
Hey Eric, what’s it like to be catching footballs from Peyton?
Yo Eric, I just wanted to know what we(the Denver fans) can expect out of the 2012 season?
Hey strandoftds82, Whats up Brotha!?! Steamboat has been Great you gotta come up and visit the fishin in the higher MT lakes has be Awesome!!
I’ve been going up since the Yampa River flows have been down.
Hey I think every time Eric scores a TD we should all chant E, D! E, D! E, D! just like when Eddy would score and everybody would chant EDDY, EDDY, EDDY!
GO! 87 ! ! !
TIME OF POSSESSION ! ! !
GO BRONCOS ! ! !
Decker!!! You’ll do great this season buddy! McCaffrey is gonna be proud! Get your a$$ in the endzone, we gotta win this thing on sunday!!!
What do you do when you aren’t playing football?
Bloggers seem to come out of the woodwork this time of year. LOL Almost like the Tim Tebow thing last year on the blog, sure glad that is over and done with. Is this your personal fan club Eric, maybe your twitter followers that have suddenly landed on this blog? Just curious about the influx, we can always use more Bronco fans in on the conversations around here. I’m a 40+ year Bronco fan and started watching them when I was in my early teens . My clearest memory way back when is Craig Morton at quarterback. I remember thinking he was awful, but looking back now at his accomplishments as a Bronco I realize the ignorance of my youth. It was a different game in those days and many players in today’s NFL would not have survived the physicality of playing back in the early days of the merger. When I was very young the only time I saw football was at grandma’s house. My dad wasn’t a football fan but my grandfather sure was! He was a Raider fan so I was listening to him hoot and howl watching Daryle Lamonica & Fred Biletnikoff make magic going down the field. Those were some of the glory years of the Raiders, they were tough on defense and always getting flagged and booed for their rugged style of play. Yeah, they didn’t think twice about trying to take somebody’s head off back in those days. I was 8 years old back in 65′ watching the Radiers with grandpa, little did I know that 5-7 years later I would become a fan of the team that has probably been their biggest rival. I’m really looking forward to the season and though I know I’m looking ahead , I sure hope we get back on the winning side of our rivalry with those Oakland Raiders. We owe them a couple of good beating at home and put the fear back into them when they come into our house. Rambles of an old fart in the wee hours the morning , took me damn near an hour to write this, I need some more coffee. Good morning everyone, TGIF.
Eric, you and Demaryius represent the two bright spots left from the train wreck that was Josh McDaniels.. With the NFL full of Prima Donna WR’s, we are extremely lucky to have a pair of such talented and young WR’s, such as yourselves, who both seem to have their heads on straight. I’m certain you both will have terrific careers, especially with your TEAM mentality, and I truly hope the two of you will retire as Broncos!
I always wondered why you wore #7 in college, did that have anything to do with Elway?
Good Morning Broncos Country
I am on here reading and going where did all these people come from seems like everyone waited to join and blog on one day welcome to all newbies. Decker pro bowl for you this year super bowl would be good too. My question is how did you get so good at running routes and getting open?
Also, I wonder if Mike McCoy has ever seen this before:
