Eric Decker Player Blog

September 6th, 2012 - 2:59pm by Eric Decker

Editor’s Note: This season, DenverBroncos.com will feature two player blogs. Wide receiver Eric Decker will check in with a new post every week. Below is his first entry of the season.

What’s going on, everyone?

This is Eric Decker, and I’m excited to take over a blog this season. I’m going to check in once a week and give you guys a little insight as the season rolls on. I’m going to try to take you behind the scenes as much as I can and answer any questions you have.

It’s fun this time of year, because it’s been a great offseason. Everybody’s been working extremely hard to get to this point. We feel good about this team and we’re excited to kick it all off this Sunday against Pittsburgh.

We’re really counting on you guys to come out to the stadium and make sure we have that home-field advantage.

Pittsburgh’s definitely a tough team, and we’re going to have a test in front of us. But we’re excited for it and we know you guys are excited, too.

What I want to do at the end of each post is make sure to let you know you can ask me questions, and I’ll answer some of them each week next time I write a blog.

What do you want to know?

Looking forward to talking with you every week.

What’s up E! All of us are extremely excited for the season. We run prediction contests for everything for season record to individual games and this is a great online community to be a part of. Best of luck this season, stay healthy and have fun. If I had to ask anything I guess it would be do you have any unusual game day rituals or customs to prepare for a game?

    Pura Vida! Go Broncos!

Just wondering what you said to Peyton when you found out he was coming to Denver?

  9. Tami S Miller says:

Do you feel you and Peyton have worked enough together on routes and timing that you’re comfortable? I also think this is great as I forsee you becoming the next Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison. I’ve followed Peyton his NFL career and know he tends to go to those receivers he has a reporte with. Thanks for doing this. It’s great and best of luck Sunday. Go Broncos.

It must be great to be a Denver Bronco … it’s great, just being a fan … what a joy for you to be matched w/ Peyton Manning – like a dream come true … night and day from the past two seasons, I’ll bet … anyway – I’d like to know what you see in Peyton’s eyes?? … oh – Sunday night … Denver 31 – Pittsburgh 27 …

  19. strandoftds82 says:

  23. horsepower1 says:

    Eric,

I’m glad to see you and the team work so hard knowing that PM was coming to town. I feel you have great potential and see you being the next Steve Watson type receiver. I think JE has done well putting together a great supporting cast this year.

Looking forward to a great year and good luck to you and the rest of the team.

My question to you would be….what do you do for relaxation during the regular season?

  24. imready says:

The fire is lit and it’s time to step up and be counted! Looking forward to seeing the offense and defense unleased on the Steelers! Personally, I think big Ben will be running for his life most of the game with their offensive line woes and the power pass rush of the Bronocs. It’s going to be great fun to watch the game Sunday!

It might rain they say tonight or tommorow Cat,I think everyone in this town will feel better if the air gets cleaned up of all that smoke! Hope you feel better soon.

  25. Danny says:

Decker, living in Los Angeles and being a die hard BRONCOS fan isn’t easy and I get crap all the time from people out here. I picked you n Manning up on my fantasy team this year so I’m going to need you two to come through for me. Thanks!!

    Eric,
You are the man. Cant wait till sunday when u guys lay the smackdown on the squeelers. I am a hoosier, i have followed Peyton his entire career, i heard a rumor he wanted the colts to draft u, is that true? When u guys played the forty whiners u scored two tds, the camera man, shortly after zoomed in on DT and he looked a little bummed, please tell him theres plenty of Peyton to go around. Im sure u both will have atleast one TD on sunday.

  28. SuperManninG says:

Great to see that you’ll be participating Eric! Best of luck to you this season. Stay strong brother. Here’s to you finishing what you started in January…(I’d like to see you lay a block ala Eddie Mac on a certain player, during a run play!)

    Broncos Country Strong 2012!

  30. killerkod says:

    Hey Gang!

Stoked to have you on the blog Eric……..but more importantly, on our team. Your play reminds me of Eddie Mac……and trust me that’s a HUGE compliment!

Do you do any supersitious things before games?

And just to let the regulars know………..and the new people for that matter……While I haven’t seen OC around in a while, I took it upon myself to get a rock song ready to pump us up for gameday. FTR Productions lives on……..I will post it up tomorrow.

    GO BRONCOS!

  31. Banned_inc says:

    Harrison ha!

  32. strandoftds82 says:

  33. strandoftds82 says:

Heck, thats if he even plays! HaHa!!

  34. Drew says:

I was just wondering what it is like to wear the same number as the legendary Eddy Mac? I also wanted to say that (in my book) you are well on your way to becoming legendary Bronco yourself. I wish you the best as the season starts! Blue and orange for life!

  35. TwoGunz says:

    Hey Eric,

I am a huge Broncos fan and have been all my life. I believe that you guys are going to do great this season, but I was just wondering tho… I like to read your blogs when I am pooping. What are you doing when you’re writing them?

    Go Broncos!

    Broncos 24- Steelers 17

  36. Brandon says:

This will be a great blog E thanks for doing it. My question would be how is prepping for a night game (sun, mon, thurs…we have them all this year) different from a typical sun afternoon game? Anything change in your routine?

  37. Westcobronco says:

    Eric,

Thanks for doing the blog. This will be great for everyone! My question is:

What makes you the person you are today?

  38. tlcat06 says:

Kod, I seriously can’t wait! Oh my goodness, I bet the song is awesome!m

Thanks strand and imready. Imready I live in WY, but you’re right, the smoke has been bothering me all summer. I think my students gave me a bug.

Som Eric and DMT are calling themselves salt & pepper. Anyone know when they started that? How I came about! I love it ;)

  39. tlcat06 says:

How it came about I mean?

  40. 0range Crush says:

Hi all, new to the blog…

Hi Eric, my co-workers back in Chanahassen, MN would want me to give a shout out for them. They remember the days of you being a Golden Gopher. Anyway In the picture depicted above it shows you with Manning and Stokley, how much help has it been, having guys with a Manning re-pore in Tamme and Stokely? After seeing the Niners game it appears you have great ability to get open. Glad your here and looking forward to the season. Nick

  41. alaskanbronco06 says:

How goes it Eric? I was just wondering what are some of your pregame rituals and somE of your superstitions along with some of the weirder ones that you know of from others on the team?

  42. wolfedom says:

Welcome Eric. I am a Bronco fan since the beginning and believe you will write your own chapter of Bronco country history. Thanks for taking part in our blog,it means a lot to us..

  43. Sam says:

After seeing Peyton manning Thais offseason, what do u think of him? Can he lead this team to the big show down? Last that long?

  44. tlcat06 says:

Oh here it is… Where the nick name comes from. He wants us to call them salt and pepper, let’s do to Broncos Country!!

    http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2012/09/06/listen-broncos-wide-receiver-eric-decker-talks-steelers-fantasy-football-nickname/15503/

  45. broncoduckfan says:

Counting on a great year from all of you. I was fortunate to have you, DT and Peyton all on my fantasy team so I am particularly excited.

I would really like to know how much you players follow the fantasy football leagues, if at all. Also would like to know how true is the rhetoric about Peyton “jumping on” his receivers when they are not where he expects them to be? Good luck and GO BRONCOS!

  46. Sam says:

I have seen you’ll blog all last year. But as far as blogging, I am new. Can we still post overall season stats? And we do we have to have weekly scores posted by? Sorry if this has been posted already. Thanks for the help.

  47. dwalls2 says:

Sam, Just jump in after you register and log on. The folks on here are pretty kind, at least to Bronco fans.

  48. GeorgeinABQ says:

    Hey Eric,

You’ve been a great asset to our team since day 1. I just want to thank you for your hard work and dedication to the Broncos! I look forward to you and Demarius being elevated to “NFL great” status so all the country will know what we already know about you guys. The receiver and TE corps looks great! Glad to see Stokley back. God Bless you all and keep you healthy! I guess if I had a question for you, it would be…When you practice first team offense vs first team defense in practice, who stands out to you as the baddest hombre on defense?

    Kick some Steeler butt!

  49. BroncoBoy2012 says:

    Eric,
Just wanted to say I’m a Gophers fan too and I was so excited to see the Broncos draft you 2 years ago and I’m glad you’re getting your shot to play for my favorite NFL team as well! Congrats and make your fellow Midwesterners proud!!! (I’m from SoDak btw).
