All Eyes on the Bucs

November 30th, 2012 - 8:16am by Eric Decker

We know where we are in the standings, but you won’t hear us talking about it in the locker room. Our ultimate goal is to win one week at a time. Tampa Bay is a very tough team. They’ve got a good back in Doug Martin and an explosive offense. We’ve got to be able to play with them and make sure we don’t turn the ball over, because their defense is very good at creating turnovers. Right now our goal is to win this one, move forward and win the next, and hopefully position ourselves in a good spot where we want to be come playoff time.

In the Bucs secondary, Ronde Barber covers their youth. He’s a very smart player. He’s around the ball a lot and making plays. That’s something that’s going to be a challenge for us as receivers. We’ve got to make sure that we’re sound with our technique and we’re getting to the right spots for Peyton.

Like I said, turnovers determine games. We always talk about giving it away versus taking turnovers — if you’re always in the positive, you’ll have success. You’ll see more wins. That’s why our goal is to eliminate them on offense and make sure we get a few defensively.

One thing is it’s always nice to be home. I know we’ve got a stretch here, I think three of the last five are at home. So it’s nice to have that home field advantage, especially at this time of year when it’s so crucial to set yourself up for a playoff run.

Talk to you next week.

    B-R-O-N-C-O-S BRONCOS BRONCOS BRONCOS!!!

Living about 2 hours from Eric’s hometown, I about 99% sure that his older brother, Tom, was shot and killed in the line of duty last night (he is a police officers for their hometown of Cold Creek, MN.) My thoughts and prays are with you and your family if this is turely your older brother.

Best info I can find… horrible trajedy, but no relation it sounds

  5. SuperiorBroncoFan says:

It is actually Cold Springs, but I have been listening to the Vikings radio and they were trying to confirm if it was Eric’s brother or not. They thought it was though.

Glad it’s not a family member of Eric’s but still a horrible situation.

  7. Bronco_Turtle says:

I’m glad that it wasn’t his brother… doesn’t make it any less of a trajedy for the family or friends though

  8. baylinorcrush says:

Way to jump the gun, 99% sure, there is a great job opening for you at a news media outlet somewhere.

  9. brian_schneider says:

McClain can stay a Raider. I thought he had some real potential but if you watch the film…he flat out stinks. Doesn’t fight through defenders, gets caught up in the scrum, little to no block shedding ability and he doesn’t even attempt an arm tackle, he just lets the guy run right by him. No thanks.

  10. Bronco_Turtle says:

Wow Bay… even for you that’s pretty low. He was just a concerned fan trying to share some info, and he corrected himself when he got the proper details… and I think the point is more about a man lost his life than a guy thinking he was related to one of our players

    I appreciate you sharing SBF

  11. BroncoNation says:

My prayers go out for Eric and his family.

  12. baylinorcrush says:

That right there is the issue with that type of stuff, now the word propagates…whatever.

  13. packf1broncos says:

The bronco family is coming together with the sad loss of a brother.

  14. baylinorcrush says:

I like it low, how is it up top? LOL.

  15. baylinorcrush says:

    This feels like an avalanche…

  16. packf1broncos says:

yo Baylinorcrush, bronconation did nothing wrong man, the bronco fans are a family.

  17. baylinorcrush says:

Eric Decker’s brother is not dead, so everybody is clear, this police officer happens to have the same last name, RIP.

  18. BroncoNation says:

Jumped the gun praying for the Decker Family. Well they can still use the prayers.

  19. brian_schneider says:

This is getting blown way out of proportion.

baylinorcursh was just commenting on how stories get out there without everyone knowing the full details. He made an off the cuff comment about a media outlet because that’s what those types of places do. They report whatever story they want…”bananas are taking over the world” then later they report”oh turns out it was just a a semi truck full of bananas tipped over.”

  20. baylinorcrush says:

Like “old white guy” McClain is a racist because he doesn’t want that Susan lady for secretary of States, it has nothing to do with the Benghazi cover up, LMAO.

But it’s ok Brian, that’s just how Turtle operates, a day without finding a way to insult me is a bad day for him.

  21. baylinorcrush says:

Sorry, McCain, you talking about McClain threw me, haha.

  22. brian_schneider says:

I wondered what you were talking about.

  23. Bronco_Turtle says:

Brian, you can say ‘blown out of proportion’ all you want… facts are this is not the first (nor probably the last) socially and culturally insensitive post made by Bay…

if Bay doesn’t start a conversation or drive it the way he wants he turns to making small, back handed slights and this is just another example… Last time Tide called him on it he literally ‘took his ball and went home’ to ‘Retirement’…

And Bay… please know that I have no desire to insult you, use your name in a post or see my name in your posts. I’ve been over you for a long time, but you needle me constantly… Today is also my birthday, so as a gift to me please pretend you don’t know me bud!!!

  24. baylinorcrush says:

Today in the news this black anchorman said McCain is “an old white guy” who is a racist, like that wasn’t a racist comment in of itself… Imagine the outrage by the liberals if an anchorman referred to a black guy as just “an old black guy”!!!! That would be the end of the world as we know it, LOL.

  25. baylinorcrush says:

    I will gladly oblige, haha.

  26. baylinorcrush says:

You addressed me, not the other way around, remember? LOL.

  27. broncokilla says:

BroncoNation is a complete dumbass. research before you say.

  28. baylinorcrush says:

Glad to see folks with their feet on the ground like killa, this was not a matter to be taken lightly, it involved death, it requires some research before crying wolf.

  29. brian_schneider says:

Guess, there is no back hand necessary in broncokilla’s comment.

  30. baylinorcrush says:

killa got upset alright, even unloaded on another blogger in the last blog…. Saves me time and energy, LOL/jk.

  31. Tyler says:

    Go Decker, Go Broncos!

  32. orangemnm says:

I completely agree Bay, it is just like the Treyvon Martin case in Florida. It started out a hate crime, and now there is a ton of evidence to support self defense for the defendant.

Everyone wants to spout something out before any evidence is collected. They could have just said, “there was a cop killed in Eric Decker’s home town, and his last name was Decker. Does anyone know if there is a connection?” That would have come across much better.

    Have a great day Bay!

  33. Kristen says:

Loved the post, Eric! I’ll be rootin’ for you guys! Go, Broncos. :)

  34. MNBroncosFan says:

Yes. No relation and certainly not his brother. But it did happen in his hometown and he might have known him. He did graduate from ROCORI like Eric.

  35. baylinorcrush says:

You too mnm, good to see your handle again.

Things are looking up for an excellent Friday for me, just got news that all but one of the used vinyl albums I ordered online, both through auction and regular purchase are all still in stock and ready to be shipped. Getting three David Bowie’s, space oddity, heroes and let’s dance (missed out on Scary Monsters), Roxy Music siren, Curved Air midnight wire, Camel moonmadness and Brian Ferry boys and girls. Albums way too difficult to find in the local stores unfortunately. Psyched, set me back about 90 bucks, pretty darn good, all VG+ or NM.

Sorry for the off subject post but since there has been a new blog I figured why not. Long live Rock n’Roll and analog!

  36. alex4serg says:

gotta agree with bay on this one. Jumped the gun with a huge bomb of bad news. I was thinking, “Oh no, man!! Not his BROTHER!!.”

Then I read further and suddenly found myself with the very odd emotion of relief because it isn’t actually his brother. But wait, a police officer is still dead.

R.I.P. and best wishes to his family, random dead guy who luckily isn’t Eric Decker’s brother. Awkward.

  37. bfree2bronc says:

Go Broncos! Thanks Deck for the word, now go out and catch a few TDs…

  38. footballMANIAC says:

    Yo E.D.!

This blog is a bit old but I couldn’t find a more recent one that I thought you’d read, so I guess I can just hope you see this and feel like responding. Anyway, I enjoyed watching the ongoing dichotomy between you and Williams. I was wondering what was being said? Were you tempted to turn around and spike the ball in front of him after you scored over him?
