The off-season changes continued recently for the Broncos when they named Brian Xanders their new general manager.
Xanders played linebacker at Florida State, then spent 14 years with the Atlanta Falcons organization before coming to the Broncos before last season. Now, he and new Head Coach Josh McDaniels have the task of rebuilding the Broncos.
In a recent interview with 850 KOA, Xanders said he and McDaniels will have no trouble working together.
“He’s great with people,” Xanders said. “He’s very passionate and he knows exactly what he wants on a clear, concise basis in terms of systems, position parameters, (and) working together with everybody in college, pro, (and) his coaching staff so it’s really been good.”
The relationship between head coach and general manager is crucial and Xanders said he and McDaniels will work well together.
“We share the same passion and going forward, we’re going to work extremely close together on a positive collaboration of ideas and evaluation. It’ll really help us build a great consensus on selecting a player when we get there.”
The Broncos are almost there. As we write, the scouting combine is going on. Free agency is just around the corner. The draft is two months away. Soon, the roster will be more than speculation. Xanders is ready for the process.
“I’ve been through 15 drafts and it’s really been a great experience to work under a bunch of different people in Atlanta. I added it up and it was (about) six general managers and nine head coaches. You end up getting a broad spectrum of different ways to do it.”
Xanders said he has a clear idea of how he wants to go about building the team.
“We’re going to pick smart, tough, versatile players that play great under pressure, whether it’s offense, defense or special teams,” Xanders shared.
“There are clearly defined roles and parameters for what we want to do offensively, defensively and on special teams. The artwork of it is trying to find and piece together the exact fits for our system.”
One gets the idea that defense will be a point of emphasis.
“Defensively, anybody can watch the games and know we need help there and on special teams,” Xanders admitted.
The Broncos have created about $30 million of salary cap space to make some noise in free agency, which begins Thursday night. Some of the available money will likely to go re-sign center Casey Wiegmann and there is the possibility the Broncos will give wide receiver Brandon Marshall a new contract.
Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has grabbed most of the headlines heading into free agency. I think he is too expensive for the Broncos. And he would be slightly out of position if the Broncos indeed play a significant amount of the 3-4 defense.
I believe the Broncos’ biggest need in free agency is signing a talented and experienced cornerback. Dre Bly is gone. They need someone to play opposite Champ Bailey.
Talk is percolating that the Broncos could go after Ronald Bartell (Rams) and/or Bryant McFadden (Steelers).
I know the Broncos have to shore up the defensive line. I believe they will. But there is no hiding a hole at corner. There are more ways to get pressure on the passer than there are ways to cover wide receivers. The Broncos have to have guys they can put on an island at the cornerback position.
We’ll have more on free agency this weekend. I have enjoyed the posts from those who have shared their thoughts about the roster.
What position is the most important for the Broncos to address in free agency?
Thanks for reading,
Mike

Hola Mike.
Number 1 priority has got to be a BIG NASTY NOSE TACKLE!!!
-But I agree that paying top dollar to Haynesworth and hoping he can make a move to a 3-4 is too big of a gamble.
-Raji is the man. But I don’t think they’ll be able to draft him.
-So I think this year we may be stuck with some FA or later round pick to fill that spot and hope he works out. Maybe next year will provide that NT we need.
Number 2 priority is MLB. I think the Broncos will draft Maualuga this year.
Number 3 is DB. We will see many new faces have a shot at a corner and the two safety positions. Drafted and FA players alike.
Jack_Fan…Thanks for the post. I completely see your point about a talented defensive tackle, specifically a nose tackle. You mentioned Raji. Did you see that Mel Kuiper, Jr. has the Broncos taking Raji is his latest mock draft (not that Mel is always right by any means)? It’s something interesting, though.
For some reason, and it’s purely speculation on my part, I see the Broncos going the route of trying to stockpile a lot of good players, instead of going after one or two higher-priced guys. When a team has several areas to improve, that would seem to make the most sense. It will be fun to watch it unfold.
Mike
Wow, for once Jack_Fan made a relevent point and for once I agree… this is weird!! We do need a big mean INTIMIDATING defensive tackle (nose tackle)… someone who will just drill other people into the ground!!! Someone who will just go after his opponent and show NO mercy… man I’m really getting into this… Grrrrr
All I can really say is the main focus needs to be on the defense… we need all sorts of players for that side of the ball. Would be really great if we could get some solid defensive guys (MLB, DB, another CB) from FA first and go into the draft from there. Wonder who’s gonna get the boot this week? Not sure I want to know
With faith…
GO BRONCOS in ’09!!!!
Good to hear from you Mike.
Your right! This D needs more than a couple high priced players.
Nose Tackle is big though. In a 3-4 D, the NT is like the anchor. Without a good one, expect to get pushed around.
They probably will stock-pile talent these next couple of months (and years). They’ll throw them all against the wall to see who sticks.
I’d expect to see them get a little “Patriotic” and go after hard working, lunch pail carrying, blue collar type characters for this D. They’ll have to make up for the lack of talent.
So, probably won’t see any big name free agents this year. Maybe one if they go for Canty. But they’ll sign a bunch of other vets.
The draft is never predictable. But if Raji’s there, he’s ours! (youtube him and see why I say that). Like you said, Kiper predicted it, but that was a while ago and his stock has risen since. I wouldn’t bet on it.
Good chance they trade down. They might not be IN LOVE with who’ll be there at 12.
Maualuga looks to be there. I’d build my defense on his shoulders. The guy is intense! So I like em a lot! But does Brian, Josh and Mike?
We all want instanst success but…
But you gotta start with a good foundation before you can paint the masterpiece…
Rome wasn’t built in a day…
No strong tree lasts with out good roots… Or something like that.
Haha, enough. This is getting long.
ALL IN ALL, anything is better than last year! Just show me some big hits and turn overs!!!
Love,
Jack
I personally think the Broncos could surprise if they cant pick up a good running back in free agency. But I see them taking Maualuga with the 12th pick if they have a RB by the time the draft hits. McFadden would be a nice addition to the secondary. This draft is going to be DEFENSE! Haynsworth would be amazing but I agree would be a big risk.
Well since nobody will take my word as far as the front Office goes it will be safe to say this.
I would surprise everyone with the FA and the Draft. There seems to be a few Clady Tackles hanging around in the draft am I right?
Well i would offer Clady an extension and a raise on his contract to play NT on Defense I believe i read somewhere he used to play NT. Then i would be able to go after a Top Tier Safety for my first pick in the draft. I would also pick up Bartell and Mcfadden one of those guys also played safety. Then I would go after a Tackle in the 2nd round. And look to the FA for a LB prior to the Draft if no help there I might trade a Ryan Torain for a for a pick somewhere in the draft. LOL I am just rambling hahaha but it was fun. But I do think Clady could be as big of a force on Defense as he was on Offense!
We do need a good nose tackle. Raji will likely be gone, but has anyone heard of a guy by the name of Peria Jerry from Mississippi? He is pretty talented. I dont think we should take him at 12 as there would be other defensive players that are better, but if perhaps we could get a late first round or early second round pick we could grab him too.
I finally see everyone hoping off the Maualuga bandwagon, but why not trade the 12th pick for more picks
I would like Raji, and I think he will be there at 12. I’m not sure about Maualuga though, he’s kinda’ undersized and got pushed around alot at the Senior Bowl, but there were also people who had problems w/ Ray Lewis’s size aswell. There’s quite a few good DB’s who are potential FA’s, I like what the Ravens Saftey ,Leonhard, did last season. I would also like us to get Rashard Johnson in the 2nd or 3rd round of the Draft.
I agree trade up. this years draft is so deep in the linebaker/db position. were bound to get one. Maualuga, cushing, curry, jenkins, morre, raji, lauranitus (hopefully thats how you spell it) and the list goes on. i would be happy with any of these picks, and im sure some of these cats will be past the 12 pick. Either way it will be exciting.
Go Broncos
i thind a db is #1 priority in f/a becouse of the experance factor. but get one that can and is willing to make a tackle. then in the draft get Raji with the first pick. in the second round get the best d/b to replace Champ when he retires. our LBs are young let them learn their job this year and not keep moving people around. i think that is what Xanders ment by: clearly difined roles. or if a mean and nasty MLB falls to us in the second grab him, but i am not counting on it.
One positive thing about having so many holes in the defense is that the coaches can draft broad. They need every defensive position, and will still want backups to whatever they fill in free agency. From the defensive prospects in the first round this year, we should come out with an amazing player no matter what. Of course we all think we should draft this or that player, but they will have to draft who is available in the end. I have a feeling this is going to be a good draft, hopefully it can be the defensive equivalent of the 08′ class.
LA LA LA! I CAN’T HERE YOU!
B.J. RAJI IS THE BIGGEST RISK AND POTENTIAL BUST IN THE DRAFT!
(But getting Cushing AND Matthews would be sweet!)
peterg/Pedro…thanks for your note. Good to hear from you all the way from Florida!
Clearly, you make a great point and let me elaborate a little on what I’m saying.
The Broncos have to completely rebuild their defense. We don’t yet know exactly what it will look like at this point, but I believe they have to find a talented and experienced cornerback in free agency. That isn’t their only need in free agency, to be sure. But if they don’t get sign a starting cornerback in free agency, then they are putting their hope in drafting one or trading for one. I believe any team would be taking a monumental (and even foolish) risk if they are counting on drafting a cornerback that will be NFL ready this September.
Why? Because you cannot hide a young cornerback. If you have to constantly give him help then you take away from the rest of your defense.
As far as trading for one, I suppose anything is possible. But my guess is that most teams are looking for the same thing.
I disagree with your point that the Broncos’ secondary was “more than adequate” last year. I believe it was substantially below adequate, which is why they are making wholesale changes…Bly is gone, Manuel is gone, and they won’t re-sign McCree likely not Paymah. Who knows who else will be gone? All of that tells me the front office personnel and coaching staff didn’t think they had a lot of talent back there.
You are absolutely right in your points about the importance of run defense. And a good pass rush makes any secondary a whole lot better.
But again, there are more ways to generate pressure than there are ways to cover a wide receiver. I’d like to think that with a new, established defensive coordinator (Mike Nolan), a new scheme for them (the 3-4), and many new players, there will be at least decent chance that the defensive front will be better. I’m not ready to say the Broncos will have the Orange Crush II but let’s face it, the only place to go is up.
I’m also not saying, Pedro, that the Broncos should only sign a cornerback in free agency. I expect they will sign at least one defensive lineman and hopefully more. I’m simply saying that I believe their top priority (not their only priority) in free agency should be to find a starting cornerback.
You believe their top priority is to sign a defensive lineman. I respect that and completely understand it.
Thanks again for checking in.
Best,
Mike

LISTEN EVERYONE THIS SOUNDS GREAT ABOUT THE IDEAS BUT LETS NOT LET THIS BE ANOTHER HOPES UP YEAR LETS GET IT DONE AND TO BE HONEST I FEEL THEIR IS 32 TEAMS OUT THERE AND ONLY A HANDFUL OF FREEAGENTS SO LETS BE UNDERSTANDING AND KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT NOW FOR THE MOST PART ILL SAY WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THE BRONCOS AND THATS BARRETT AT FREE SAFETY WILLIAMS AT LB AND BAILEY AT CB OTHER THEN THAT WHAT DO WE HAVE LETS START THROWING SOME ACTUAL NAMES OUT THEIR LIKE WE ALL KNOW RAJI WILL BE GONE IF HE CONTINUES AT THE PACE HE IS ON SO LETS STOP EXPECTING HIM WE ALL KNOW WERE GETTING Maualuga AT MLB SO THATS IT NOW HOW DO WE MOVE FORWARD HOW DO WE GET NASTY AS A 3-4 DOES ANYONE REALLY KNOW??? WE HAVE A HANDFUL OF PLAYERS THAT CAN PLAY OUTSIDE LB BUT ONLY 1 DEFENSIVE LINE PLAYER WHO IS AT BEST A MODERATE PLAYER I HAVE HOPE BUT WE REALLY NEEDED THAT STRONG SAFETY FROM USC TO TAKE A STEP FURTHER
No doubt, we need help at all three levels of our defense starting with NT, ILB and a Safety. These areas will be addressed in the draft. At this time, we don’t know for sure who will be on the board with 12th pick, but we can’t go wrong with either B.J. Raji, Rey Maualuga/Brian Cushing or Taylor Mays. Raji is tough enough to draw two lineman freeing up the backers to pursue and make the play in the 3-4. Maualuga has potential to be an impact player on the inside, as we lack a stout run stuffer which does make him intriguing. Mays plays with ferocity as he patrols the middle of the field and can lay the wood. With F/A around the corner, I like the idea about going after McFadden from the Steelers, but also believe our 2nd yr DB Jack Williams (Kent State), has potential as well. It’s still early and lot’s of interesting developments lie ahead. Can’t wait to see what transpires.
so at first i felt like the biggest need for the broncos was a dt nd tht albert haynesworth would be the biggest pick up ever. buh hes way too expensive so i dnt think its gona happen. im pretty sure tht the titans are gonna find a way to resign here. then i figured that the next big issue was linebacker. buh honestly kno that i thnk about it broncs are pretty deep at lb in my opinion. i mean my fav is woodyard cuh of his passion, buh we also have williams, larson, and bailey. i think i jus wanted the broncos to draft maualagu cuh cuh hes one of those bright names that u wanna hear. buh the honest truth is im startin to agree wit Rice. we need to fill up that hole on the other side of the ball. i mean think about this after the death of williams(rip) the defense went downhill cuh the other teams have a place to throw the ball. in my opinion our big draft needs are CB nd SS. i think the broncs will either grab a cb in the second round or in free agency. buh if it were me id trade up. I gotta be honest i wont be surprised if mcdaniels tries to trade up and snab malcolm jenkins. he’ll definately fill tht void on the other side of the ball and also could be a cornerstone on the defense for the future. cuh lets not forget tht champ is timeless and hes gettin old. So in my opinion 2 draft choices tht would jus make my insides all tingly are either maualagu or malcolm jenkins. Im startin to lean towards malcolm jenkins more .. Lemme know wuh u guys think ..
p.s. If atari bigby’s gonna be a free agent. DEFINATELY GRAB HIM!!! hes a force!
Lattterrrrr DUDDDDEEEESSSS
Go Broncos!
The draft at this point doesnt matter. Who we should draft will depend on who we get in free agency. With all the guys we cut i hope we sign alot of free agents but im not sure that alot of these guys will want to come to a team that is rebuilding on defense. I have heard go get the high priced guys and i have heard dont get any high price guys. well look at last year we went the cheap route and got some busters like niko and manuel. I think we need to spend some money on some big time players, im not saying go after haynes but try to sign as many guys right under him as possible. i say go after a corner, 2 safties, 2 d lineman. this draft is heavy in linebacker but light in db’s and d lineman
in my opinion, it’s not who we get in FA or in the draft, it’s how we run our OTA’s and training camp. they have got to start hitting and running practice closer to game speed. that will do wonders for some of the defensive players we’ve already got in place, not to mention the RBs. i mean seriously, these guys weren’t taking NFL hits 4 days a week. no wonder we went through so many. and on a side note, if we can get a couple of solid safeties, i would like to see us sneak into some 4-4 against teams like SD and NE.
i think that rey maualuga is a huge reach at 12 overall. i dont believe he is a 3 down backer. he was victimized at the senior bowl when finally the offence he was playing was as talented as the defence he was on. there is only a hand full of players worth our 12 pick that fits our needs. bj raji is my first pick, after that id say malcom jenkins, vontea davis, brian cushing, brian orakpo, and everette brown. other than these players i wouldnt get anyone else, unless we do very well in fa, then we could go after a top offensive threat. but the guy to look out for is ILB Jasper Brinkley. he is a mid round pick that has put up some decent numbers in the combine already, i would love for the broncs to snatch him up in the 4th.
im so excited abou f.a. i think we should sign bart scott just because he is younger. i would prefer lewis because of his leadership ability but i garantee he wont be staying long and i want a guy that will be around for at least 4 years. haynesworth is way to expensive so i dont think we should sign him. as for the corner position i say we should give little jack and bell a chance to compete for the starting position.
broncos14441 i disagree with you that raji is the biggest risk and potential bust. you want the broncos to draft someone who has had a fair number of injuries(CUSHING. this guy is like Jarvis Moss. moss was know to get injured but if healthy he is a great player. You really need to think what you say before you say someone is going to be a BUST
I think we should go D-LINE the first 2 round because there are A LOT OF GREAT D-LINE PLAYERS this year. first i think we should draft Raji, Everet Brown or Laurinaitis if none of them are there (I HIGHLY DOUBT BUT POSSIBLE) then draft THE BEST D PLAYER AVAILABLE at 12.
There is a BIG difference between this years FA and last years FA, why, because Denver now has talent evaluators”
Rice, how about this Keith Kidd? Alls I can find is that for years he has been ESPN’s talent evaluator.
As I see it, i think it all starts in the trenches. The Broncos need a dominate force somewhere on the defensive line. We have a pass rusher but Elvis is not a 3-4 end and i do not know if he can be a OLB. We need a nose tackle and an edge rusher. Two guys can seriously upgrade this defense but the problem is there are no really good nose tackles out there in free agency, i dont want Tank Williams on the team and i dont think denver is even considering him. B.J. Raji is the only logical pick at 12 but if he is not there then you have to wonder if denver will try to trade down and get more picks. The linebacker class is deep and you can take one of the linebackers in the first then in the second pick up a SS and a NT. Pick up a Corner at 3rd. I like D.J. William’s brother Worrell Williams at MLB he looks like a good player that could come in and contribute and be a good solid ILB. Since NE is known for bringing in veteran guys at the LB position you gotta wonder if Denver will try and bring in Rey Lewis. The guy is a leader and he would instantly boost the defense.
Maulaga draft value should go down because he hurt his hamstring running the 40. We could probably get Vontae Davis with are 12 pick.
If we dont get BJ Rajii in the 1 round then get Ron Brace in the 2 round and Maulaga in 1 round
I still hope we take Maualuga at our pick. The guy is gonna become the heart of our defence if we do. His hammy injury shouldnt mean anything to his stock, Orakpo(sp?) tweaked his too but he will still most like be a top 10 pick, theres been worse injuries from players who havent played a down in the NFL who become great (McGahee) so i hope it doesnt throw us off of him
Bryant Mcfadden, Ron Bartrell, and Deangelo Hall are the top 3 corners in FA.
source: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=3927590
I don’t see as glaring of a need to go after a defensive tackle, especially if Denver is switching to the 3-4 defense. The nose tackle in this style defense is primarily to absorb blockers. Just get somebody fat who will be difficult to move to create a big pile right in the middle. The linebacking corps is more important to improve primarily. D.J. is hands down one of the best weakside linebackers in the game today. I just hope he fits in to this scheme. I think Maualuga will be the best selection at 12.
P.S. is anyone else hoping that we go after Chris McAllister in FA this year since we let Bly go? Let’s not forget who the new D- Coordinator is…
I really hope that Denver drafts Raji
First of all, the Broncos need a solid cornerback to compliment Champ Bailey. I really like Sean Smith out of Utah. Next, we do need a solid middle linebacker, such as Rey Maualuga and finally, the antithesis of Dwayne Robertson at defensive tackle would suffice. Xanders and McDaniels have the vision, energy and expertise to make the Broncos winners so hopefully they succeed. Also, if Edgerrin James should be released, he’d be a great short-yardage tailback.
I’m a BIG Rey Maualuga fan..I dont care about his posted speed…I think the 40 dash is a bit overrated especially for linebackers…he’s hunger to hit whoever is carrying the ball makes him a machine, one we’ve missed in the middle since the days of Wilson and Mobley..its their play that translates to the field that matters..kinda tired of watching Websters helmet fly off almost everygame..lol
however, I am not against the idea of grabbing a gifted athlete like Jenkins..
agreed BradJamesBroncoFan….I’d like to see Sean Smith don a Bronco Jersey….considering how we dropped Bly, I’m expecting the CB spot to be a highlight too in the draft,,or in FA then address DBs in the draft…
broncos20-
if your looking for a guy like wilson or mobley than rey is not your guy. rey reminds me more of nate webster than wilson or mobley. rey can not cover, he over runs plays constantly cause of his agressiveness. he is not answer we are looking for. mobley was a little before my time but i remember wilson like it was yesterday, he was an awesome all round linebacker. had tremandous speed with loose hips and was a very solid tackler. rey is a downfield player that missed way to many tackles in college cause he is over agressive and doesnt break down and wrap up. every single play he is looking for that monster hit that knocks someone out. we do not need that, even football people like mike mayock are starting to relize that he was a product of the system. he was constantly facing offenses that had less talent than the USC defense, and in the nfl, on our defence he will not have that luxury.
tatumfan,
i respect your opinion, and its true, no other like Wilson.
If you say Rey is a system player, whats not to say that he wouldnt come in and fit into Nolan’s system?who knows, but better a young MLB coming in and be utilized to fit the system then have an older player try to fit in(i.e Webster)…thats my opinion, but I definitely can agree that he blitzes like hell..I just cant stand to see the Chargers pick him up and let him run around with Merriman.
Free ageny just around the corner! Can’t wait to see what the guys do ,what direction they go in! Let the games begin!
raji or mal jenkins, could make or break us, 3-4 usaually requres guys to plug holes, so a cornerback seems to be our main concern, but this is a very deep draft defensively so we can clean up and get quality players
me again, Mike, after reading your last input you think we will need alot of D/B. McCree, paymah and more will get cut, very good they should have gone way before BLY, if not last year. so i stick with what i said up top but Raji is going down on my board. in a few years that little belly roll is going to turn to fat. we tried that a few years ago with some guy name sam something. i watched him play at dallas, by the time he got on the field he was tired. So, if reading between the lines, we will try for D/B alot harder in F/A ‘couse we need 3 -5. and even try for a nt but if we don’t get one we wont cry. right? FRIDAY IS NOW COMMING TO FAST before i couldn’t wait now there is alot more to ponder over. as to who to pick up we need 3 more just to play a game so go after top 3, I hope we have cap room.
the draft is 2 mts away and a lot is going to happen brfore then so i will make my wish list out later.
I dont think it would be a bad idea to get a young corner such as Vontae Davis in the first round. Champ is getting older and we are going to need a CB in the coming years.
Also, suprise release of Gibril Wilson could be an interesting guy to go after…… We could use him and he might want revenge against Oakland…. Just a thought.
Draft Raji, Sean Smith
Sign Bryant McFadden, Chris Canty, and try for either Ray Lewis or Bart Scott.
Forget Canty, and Ray Lewis.
I just relearned that Antonio Smith and Channing Crowder will be FA’s. These two are young talented players, they both come from 3-4′s. I think it should be a priority to get Channing Crowder, Bryant McFadden, and Antonio Smith. Bryant McFadden started for the steelers, he is talented and a winner. Antonio Smith started for the Cardinals, talented, a winner last year, and he knows how to play in a 3-4/4-3 hybrid. And Channing Crowder is just good.
2ND ROUND WE SHOULD DRAFT DJ WILLIAMS BROTHER WORRELL WILLIAMS!!!! HE IS A GREAT MIDDLE LINEBACKER WITH EXPERIENCE IN A 3-4. AND HE IS APPARENTLY ON A LOT OF TEAMS TOP 10 LINEBACKERS LIST.
Broc Fan in WA-
I was just posting the same thing on another blog. That’s awesome!!! Great minds think alike. He is a “sleeper” pick and if he can play anything like D.J. that would be a great draft pick
IF the broncos do go with a 3 4 defense which is what is going to Happen then the key position on the field will be the linebackers. Lets look at what will happen there outside we will have one who is 80% of the time a pass rusher which one is decided by the formation the offense. the middle linebackers have to maintain gaps and solidify the middle on run plays and watch for Rbs and tightends on pass plays. Safeties maintain an outside gap on run plays and help where needed on Pass plays. Cornerbacks are the same in any system 3 4 or 4 3. Dlinemen in the 3 4 tend to be brutes that require 6 offensive players to contain nose tackle takes on thecenter and one gaurd ends take on either a gaurd and tackle or a tackle and tightend, tackle and fullback, or tackle and runningback. The coaching staff has to evaluate the talent at all the positions on the roster and decide who can play what in this system for instance is Tomas a nt or is he an end in the 3 4 or is Williams an outside lbacker or is he a guy capable of playing one of the middle backers in the 3 4 system. Where does that put players like Doom is he the end or is he one of the backers that always is set to pass rush if so then can the other outside linebacker play both sides of the field. With free agency and the draft on the way these are the questions that the coaching staff has to ask themselves and address in these 2 realms of adding to this team. Go broncos Gl on both areas.
Hello Mr. Rice. I agree with you totally playing DB is hard and we need some experience there. What I think is missing is some leaders on D. The D hasn’t had that since Al Wilson and Lynch left plus with Champ hurt most of the season there was a lack of leadership on D. I think its talented bunch of young guys but no direction. I think Denver should pursue Ray Lewis and Mcfadden in FA and draft some young stud defensive players in the draft.
So xanders was a lb in college AWESOME!! maybe hell go after a lb in the draft or free agency. if he could pick up bart scott in FA then sweet F a lb in the draft buh if he cant… GO AFTER MAUALUGA!! PLEEAAASSEEE like i watch the draft every year and theres never really one year where theres been a must have typa guy on the board. not in my opinion atleast (although i love all the draft choices so far). But this year its all about maualuga. usc is a linebacker factory.. so pick one up. He definately shows alot of shaun merriman appeal (u kno without the roids) haha. nd we need that type of FIRE on our defense for the future. I definately think hes the guy!! im gonna start a friggin petition nd send it to the frnt office !! lol jk thats all i got for now . So until the next blog
LATTTTEEEERRRRR DDDDDUUUUUDDDDEEEESSSS!!!
Go Broncos 09
Raji looked ok but a lil to slobbish
Maualuga got hurt im kinda scared to get him now. Curry looked real good tho
I’m not too sure it make s much difference what we do in FA or in the draft. As long as we don’t completly bust in the draft we will be OK. We are an 8-8 team. We will improve on defense just because we are shaking things up. Our offensive production will likewise improve. We can easily be a 10-6 team next year.
FirstFan u right and wrong. with the changes the broncs are making on defense and the fire power of the offense we could easily be a 10-6 team next season. buh we could also be a 8-8 team again next year. nd thats because of strength of schedule. we had one of the easiest schedules this year buh we couldnt make the playoffs cuh of a slump the team hit at the end of the season. so u go from the easiest schedule to one of the toughest schedules the next year its gonna be difficult. We play the NFC East which is by far the toughest division in football no a days not team mention teams like pittsburgh and the patriots WITH tom brady. So its gonna take a lot from the team to get us to the playoffs buh if we do get there its no doubt that the broncs will go very deep into the playoffs. I have faith in our team nd definately in our qb.
I hopin for SUPERBOWL 09″ buh well see !
GO Broncss!!!!
LAATTTTEERRRRR DUUUDDDDEEESSSS
