I don't understand why people fear the idea of KO being the QB? This guy started as a rookie for the Bears and led them into the playoffs. He had no time on the bench to learn how to run a play or read a complicated defense. Orton was thrown into the fire and told to win games and thats what he did. Granted, their were other players on the team that helped him win games. But who on that bears offense was better than the talent Orton has to play with now. If you remember last season Orton was being considered a MVP candidate before he got his ankle dinged up which affected his game the rest of the season. I'm not saying Orton is a great QB. He's not in the superstar status. But this guys seems to go out and do what is asked of him and that has led to wins in the NFL. Before I go, one thing about McDaniels. Here's a guy who trained a 6th round QB and made him into a superbowl winner. Not once, not twice, but 3 times, and the guy almost won a fourth. He then took a 7th round pick who'd never started a college game (never, I just read Cassel is the first QB in the history of the NFL to never start a game in college and start in the NFL. Don't know how true that is but it can't be that far off.) The point I'm making is don't you think the guy knows a thing or two about coaching an NFL QB? When him and Bowlen discussed trading Cutler, don't you think they talked about the QB that McD thought he could work with? Again, I'm not saying the Broncos are going to go undefeated (I hope the Chiefsa can beat them at least once) but there is a tremendous amount of bashing these two guys (McD and KO) and all these two have ever produced are winning teams. I guess it must be the year for the Broncos to get disrespected. Personally, think the Broncos schedule is tough but favorable to them. Example, if you had to play the Steelers, Giants, Cowboys, and Patriots all in the same season where would you want to play them? Why, in the thin mile-high air in Denver of course. The toughest games they'll play this year are on the road against Philly, Indy, and Baltimore. Of course they'll have tough games against their own division but they could win as many as 5 of those games. It's very conceivable the Broncos could go 6-2 at home, 4-4 on the road and come away with a 10-6 record. And, personally, I'd take Haley or McDaniels over old Norv Turner. Norv coached washington for 7 years and brought them to one 10 win season. He won 9 games for the Raiders in the 2 years he coached there (understandable though, it is the Raiders after all). And when he took over the Chargers he had inherited a team that went 14-2 the previous season. In the last two seasons he has guided them to 11-5 and 8-8 seasons. Last season they were so bad it took a miracle 4win stretch at the end of the season to get them the division. That is Norv Turners proven track record as a head coach and it's not really a good one. I don't think Bowlen should have given up on Sanahan (who, personally, I didn't like as a coach because his teams did have a tendency to fade toward the end of the season and he beat the Packers in a Super Bowl. But, I digress...) But if you were to choose a guy to take over a team with a great offensive philosophy, a team loaded with lots of offensive talent to work with, you pick up a very good DC in Mike Nolan and bring in veteran leadership like Dawkins and the DB's the Broncos grabbed in FA to help solidify the major weakness on this ballclub (something Shanahan wanted to do this off season), I'm just missing the point as to why there isn't more fear that the Broncos might be a real force to reckon with this year. Do you have any idea who called the plays when the Patriots went on that unbelievable 16-0 season? Oh yeah, that was McDaniels as well. I'm not really a Broncos fan. I like the Chiefs and Packers and of course hope Brett Favre has a great season in Minnesota. But I'm just looking at things logically and I don't see why the Broncos shouldn't be one of the teams to beat at the end of the season and it should be a heck of a game with them and Philly the second to last game of the season. I'd like to hear some real commentary as to where I'm wrong and give me some real analysis not just because you think KO sucks or this or that sucks. Thanks.

All i know is we are rid of Jay "cry baby" Cutler and we have a good QB in simms and orton either i will be happy with. Look at the team we have to give them. think about it even rex grossman would look some what ok in this team lol. Look at what they have a O line that is frickin awesome. A WR core that tops almost any teams. (hopefuly Pat Bowlen will give Brandon a new contract and make him happy, just with alot of clauses that will put his off-the-field crap on the must not do list) Also we have 2 or 3 running backs that would be starters on other teams. Hillis is great. Buckhalter is a great pick up. and we needed a goal line back and LaMont can def be that guy. Hope you all some what agree w/ me. lol i dont want my head to get chewed off!!! Go broncossss babyyy

Plus, I keep seeing a few things worrying about how we will do against the Chargers this year. The only thing that they have that we didnt is the running game. That has completely turned around now. Moreno is going to run all over them just as LT has done to us in the previous years. Only difference is, Moreno is faster and more elusive than LT!!!

Everyone just know why Orton didnt do better than what he did in Chicago. They have one of the worst Offensive lines in the NFL. You have to give you QB some time to breathe whenever hes back there about to make a pass. He has more patience than Cutler and will likely turn it over less. Trust me, he will do a great job here for us!!!

Hey guys I'm keeping a list as well. I'm not ashamed to say I was wrong if Orton tears it up and those no-names on defense ball it up this year. But if they don't I don't want to hear no excuses from you guys. I can almost hear you guys now, Oh they are still learning the system and blah blah blah. I give you my word if we win the division or if Orton makes the pro-bowl or if Matt Willis becomes a superstar LOL. I will admit I was wrong, I sincerely hope you guys are willing to do the same. If your gonna talk the talk you gotta walk the walk.

P.S. Are any of you guys going to the SD-DEN monday night game in SD?

Dave, but the D was getting their. our D went through a lot the last 3 years and lost almost all of our studs ( Wilson, Lynch, Dwill, Gold ). so the D went through a rebuilding process. we were one game away from making the playoffs. and if you ask me, with all the injuries we had last year we did pretty good. I think we were one pro bowl DE away from a good defense.if we had kept Shanny and signed a guy like Peppers, we would be a 12-4 team. we deeply lacked a pass rush and thats what caused all the terror for the defense.

Great O, Doc, but not D. Bowlen asked Shanny to get rid of Slowick. He refused. Slowick stunk, Doc. You would have seen years of the same, a .500 club. Shanny had to go.

I still think we should've given Shanny a few more seasons. We had a very young offense with a lot of potential that we saw last season. the defense was young and learning and we had a lot of injuries which was a big part of the ludacris defense. I think he was in the process of building a super bowl contending team and we fired him. hopefully McDaniels will get it done.

Yeah, Shanahans time had come. I'm personal stoked to see what the McD era can bring. Denver has a lot of talent. Lets see if they can gel.
