Not Over Yet

October 19th, 2010 - 7:20am by mike_rice

In times like this, it is easy to think the sky is falling. It is easy to look at the big picture and see the Broncos’ season slipping away.

On the surface, things look bad. The Broncos are 2-4 and as we have discussed many times, that is the bottom line, which is all that really matters when the season is over.

But the season isn’t over, not by a long shot. There is a lot of football left to be played. Call me a homer if you want, but I’m just not going to dismiss the final ten games simply because the Broncos are off to rough start.

Yes, I am generally a positive and optimistic person. I will look for the silver lining. I will try to find rational reasons that suggest a possible positive outcome. I like to think I can take that approach without being ignorant or naïve to the reality of a situation.

So what is the most reasonable course of action? To me, it is to look at how the Broncos are playing and try to determine if the Broncos can realistically make something positive of the season after some early struggles.

I believe they can. Here are a few reasons why.

1 – THE SCHEDULE. Let’s face it, the Broncos have just completed a brutal four-game stretch of hosting the Colts, playing at the Titans and Ravens and hosting the Jets. Those are four of the best teams in the AFC. I never had any illusions that the Broncos are at the level of those teams yet, but they still managed a win over Tennessee and they played right with the Colts and Jets. They did this despite mounting injuries.

2 – THE SCHEDULE. On Monday, Broncos’ head coach Josh McDaniels correctly stated that there is no easy game in the NFL.

“They are all good teams,” McDaniels said. “There is no question about that. We will play another one this week in our division. Every game is that way I think. If you play really well and they play really well, it is probably going to be a close game. If you don’t play well, it really doesn’t matter who you are playing, they are going to have a chance to beat you.”

The fact is that the Broncos are entering a stretch of games in which the opponents are not as good as those in four-game stretch they just completed. The Raiders and 49ers are next. Then after the bye, the Broncos host the Chiefs, play at the Chargers and take on the Rams at Invesco Field at Mile High.

That is a five-game run of games that are completely winnable. Certainly there is no guarantee the Broncos will win any or all of them. The key is that the Broncos have to play consistently well.

3 – THE BRONCOS ARE PLAYING BETTER. After what I saw against the Jets, I’ll give the Broncos a pass for their poor performance against the Ravens. All NFL teams have those kind of games. The Broncos had one on the road against an excellent team. It happens. If it happens on a regular basis, then that constitutes a major problem. But that kind of game has been the exception, not the rule for the Broncos.

The way the Broncos responded with a quality performance against the Jets told me some things about their fortitude. They have what it takes to overcome the injuries. They have what it takes to play well against a good team. They have what it takes to be tough when it counts.

Now they need to have what it takes to finish off opponents and win games. I believe they have that.

Some people might point to the Broncos’ 4-12 record since they started out 6-0 last year and wonder how in the world the Broncos will turn this around.

Some might point to a struggling running game and pass rush, among other issues, and say the Broncos can’t consistently win this year.

And those who point to such things raise questions and issues that have merit. In the long run, those people may very well be right. I’m just not yet ready to wave the white flag and admit they are.

There is too much football left to be played.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree or is the 2-4 too disappointing to allow you to think things might get better for the Broncos? I always enjoy your posts and appreciate your sharing your thoughts.

Thanks for reading.

Best,
Mike

Great post, Mr. Rice. I think the Broncos are better than their record indicates, but unfortunately as Bill Parcells states, “you are what your record says you are.” The Broncos are a 2-4 football team. They are making strides towards future greatness, and I think they are entering a winnable stretch of games. Broncos’ fans need to show some patience. The Broncos were a team that needed to be rebuilt for some time now, and I think they are headed in the right direction–especially looking at how well the 2010 draft class has performed after being thrown into the mix as a result of injury and opportunity.

That said, this week worries me. The Broncos have played very poorly against Oakland in Denver the past three seasons–eking out a 23-20 overtime win in 2007 and then lost 31-10 in 2008. The most devastating loss last season in my opinion was the 19-20 Raiders’ home debacle on a game winning drive led by a quarterback no longer in the NFL, first overall NFL Draft pick bust, JaMarcus Russell. The loss essentially burst Denver’s 2009 playoff hopes.

For the Broncos to win on Sunday and the rest of the season, they have to play with the same tenacity and physicality that was displayed on Sunday against the Jets minus the major mistakes, e.g., fumbles in the red zone and botched snaps to name a few. If the Broncos play the way they did against the Jets without the miscues, they will be a very difficult team to play against.

Furthermore, the Broncos have to find a way to win every home game remaining on their schedule. Home dominance is tantamount. As has been pointed out repeatedly, the Broncos have lost their edge at home. If the fans and players bring the type of energy they did last Sunday, I think the home performances will improve.

I think the Broncos are a couple of players away from being a legitimate contender. Some of those players are injured–such as Elvis Dumervil and Robert Ayers. The Broncos still need help at guard on the offensive line and need some better play and youth on the defensive line particularly in rushing the passer as well as at inside linebacker. I believe the defensive line, inside linebacker, and depth at safety will surely be addressed in the Broncos’ 2011 draft selections.

I am optimistic about the future and feel like the Broncos have a great opportunity this season to improve on their 2-4 mark. The AFC West is wide open, and the Broncos need to take advantage of the fact that no team within its division is a clear favorite at this point.

RSH…thanks for checking in. I appreciate it. You make great points and I agree with them. Here is my take on the Oakland game. If the Broncos harbor desires to make a run in the AFC West, they simply have to win this game. I don’t how they do it.

Regardless of the Raiders’ record, we all know how the Raiders seem to play well against the Broncos. The Broncos have to be tougher and better. Plain and simple.

As you point out, if the Broncos play like they did against the Jets and eliminate, or at least minimize the mistakes, they could be pretty darn good.

Thanks, enjoyed the read Mike, there is another good read I just posted on the last blog, worth a re-post:

Good view of a good writer who can see both sides of the coin unlike many fans, here is what Klis says about this loss and the rest of the season:

“My view of the Jets’ loss is if the game was played in the new Meadowlands and the Broncos competed as they did Sunday, I’d say go ahead and starting planning, just in case, for a Broncos viewing party in January.

But when the games are played at home, there is no such thing as feeling good about defeat. Has the bar been lowered that much around here? Maybe so — the Broncos are 4-12 in their last 16 games.

The Jets are good. I’d still take the Steelers on a neutral field, Indy at Indy and the Saints at the Superdome. But right now, it looks like the Jets are a good bet to reach the second round of the playoffs, or Elite Eight. At which point we’ll, you know, see what happens.

But the Jets were set up for defeat Sunday. The Broncos had ‘em out-game planned and were more inspired. They had the Jets teed up — only to shank their shot. In the end, the Broncos just didn’t quite have enough manpower.

When it’s your season, Ryan Clady decides he doesn’t feel like playing basketball on draft weekend. When it’s your season, Elvis Dumervil doesn’t tear his pectoral muscle. When it’s your season, Ryan Harris doesn’t rip up his ankle in the final preseason game, Knowshon Moreno doesn’t blow out his hamstrings, LenDale White doesn’t rupture his Achilles, Robert Ayers doesn’t fracture his foot, Brian Dawkins and Andre’ Goodman don’t miss any time.

Ultimately, the Broncos still have a chance to make the playoffs so long as 8-8, 9-7 has a chance. What that does for you depends on whether you see this team half-full or half-empty.”

That’s pretty much it in a nutshell, whatever comes out of the rest of the season is up to what’s left of the Bronco troops, tall order for a decimated bunch, but still doable. We are still in control of our destiny, believe it or not, even at 2-4, but the two things that bother me the most so far is not that we are 4-12 since October 20th of last year, it’s not that we are 2-4 this year, it is that we are 1-2 at home and 1-4 against AFC opponents, now that is not the right combination of records to set yourself up to make a run at a playoff spot.

First thing the 4 conference losses take away any chance you could of had at a wildcard, and a losing record at home is, well, not exactly a good omen for reigning on our division as the three home losses to our division foes last year remind us. Arduous gigantic mountain of a climb ahead, but still in the realm of possibility, but only with the very best from each player, including coaches and game plans and getting some guys back healthy and not lose anymore, so we will need a lot of lady luck too. Half full, half empty, with 3 division games in the next 4 games, it won’t be long until we know which way that glass is heading. Anyone needs a refill? LOL.

  4. strandoftds says:

How bazzarre it is that K.C. is at the top in our division and the Broncos, Chargers and raiders are tied this early in the season. Kind of wierd. The AFC West is ripe for the taking. Come on Broncos, lets take care of bussiness.

  5. mike_rice says:

bay…thanks for the post. It is certainly in how one wants to look at it. No doubt the Broncos have an uphill climb. No doubt they’ll have to show some things they have, to date this season, not shown consistently. Time will tell. Mike

  6. mike_rice says:

strandoftds…that it is. It is wide open. Up to now, no team has shown the ability to take control of the division. None of the teams will be abl to do anything but look in the mirror if they don’t get it done. Mike

  7. baylinorcrush says:

Mike, beating KC twice might be the biggest single accomplishment we may need to have this season to win the division, and if I remember correctly, in your early season prediction you had us win both of them, so looking at it from that point of view I can see how you would keep your hopes up for the division title, as far as I’m concerned it’s just a tat tougher since I always predict us to lose the one at KC, specially in December. But either way we are definitely not out of it, my mountain just looks a little bigger than yours does according to our predictions is all.

  8. mike_rice says:

bay…you’re correct, I did predict a sweep of the Chiefs. It is never easy to do that, especially when the game at Arrowhead is in December!

More than anything, I am in wait-and-see mode. Certainly a division title is within reach, if the Broncos play well. Am I predicting it? No. Predictin what will happen in the NFL is nearly impossible to do. NOne of us know and I won’t pretend to think I know.

I do know it’s possible. The degree of that possibility is always a fun debate to have.

    Mike

  9. strandoftds says:

Mike, I`m excited about the Bronco`s bright future. This year is going to be great. But next year, oh how I`m looking forward to see Elvis and Lendale on the field. Were just a few players away from where we can be a dominant team. Don`t get me wrong. I`m not counting out my Bronco`s yet for this year. there`s alot of football left, and I believe we can win this division. What I`m saying is I see alot of positives in our team, and I`m looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

  10. baylinorcrush says:

The next three games is like we are on a climbing Mount Everest expedition: Sunday’s game against the Raiders we are trying to reach base camp, next week in Wembley we will attempt to reach camp #2, game after that against KC we will try to reach #3 camp and from there being able to keep an eye on the summit so we can complete the final ascension later on. We don’t make these first few camps, we’re screwed and have to wait til next season for another attempt.

  11. strandoftds says:

The way K.C. is playing this year and Cassel is pouring it on, It`s going to be tough to go in there and pull out a win. Time will tell.

  12. hometeam007 says:

The fact that there are so many positives amongst the negatives is definitely something worth talking about. What is even better in my view is the last comment by strandoftds (what kinda handle is that by the way?). There is a rising optimism about this teams future. That to me means that this coaching and management staff is making the right moves. Now we get to see if the players will respond to the push to put the loss aside and play lights out against a less worthy opponent. Rolling up 40 plus points on the Raiders would give all of us a nice warm blanket to wrap up in as things get a little chilly around here!

    Orange Everything!!!

  13. vabroncoguy says:

UHHHHH…I don’t really have much to say, but I will say this Mike, this is an up and down team, they play well, then they play bad. What was unfortunate is that we played “well” and still lost. I think that there needs to be a pardigm shift made and admit that this is a rebuilding processs. I think that can relieve some of the stress fans have. Rather than to constantly say we are at a point to “win now” just admit that we aren’t and that the plans are for the future. What do you think of that Mike. (and Bay)

  14. strandoftds says:

Hometeam007, last name is Strand plus stringing many TDs in a row= STRAND OF TDS.

  15. BeastFromEast92 says:

Great post Mike,I take the Raider game as a MUST win,if we lose this one and go 2-5,well,the season will be very close to being over, but if we win,we can get back in the hunt,no matter what our record is now,the division games are what counts.A division title means a playoff berth.9-7 or 8-8 might win the division title this year, the way I see it,it’s up for grabs, and we got just as good a shot as the Raiders,Chargers,or Chiefs.I know we’re not going to the Superbowl, maybe not even win a playoff game, but it sure would be nice to make the playoffs,to me would be a great season,if we make it.

    BFE

  16. BeastFromEast92 says:

Rex Ryan declares the Jets the best team in the league, boy this guy is cocky, they should’ve lost Sunday.I don’t know how people can say they like this guy,I for one can’t stand him.
I can’t wait till they go up against a great team and get crushed.

  17. strandoftds says:

Bay, I`ve got kind of got some interesting news for you all. I was listening to 850 KOA and Dave Krieger was talking about Orange Sunday. He was wanting to know how the fans felt if the Bronco`s should bring back the old Orange Crush uniforms when they play at home. Krieger pointed out that next year NIKE has the contracts for the NFL uniforms. That means the uniforms can and to some extent be changed. I say, lets go back to the Orange for good. So what do you think?

  18. Orange you glad says:

Well it sure would be nice to win the next few games but reality is we have way too many injuries to consider a winning season this year, at this point I am rooting for a higher draft pick and if we some how snap out of this funk it will be a great thing. I would be just happy to win the divisional games we have coming up, and if we win more that would be even better.

  19. baylinorcrush says:

Va, I think that is a totally valid point and one I am glad you are bringing up. These last two years I have been professing to whoever cares to listen that we are in a re-building mode, last year we had nearly all new coaching staff and a near record new players, I wanna say 26 or something, half a squad, this year the shuffling kept on going all off season with the coaches and players, and in fact hasn’t stopped going on to this day, and yet McD kept telling us all along that we are not re-building, that he is here and has what it takes to win now!!! Well our latest 4-12 record doesn’t exaclty translates those “we are ready to win now” talks into reality, does it?

So yes, McD would of been much better served to admitting to the reality of the facts that he is indeed re-building. I guess it must be a dirty word for him, but he so far has been leading us onto false pretenses, and not all fans are fools, so so far it has been a disservice to the fans to keep us in there under the false pretenses that we are built to win now, but we all know that if he ever gets where he has been wanting to get for over a year now and starts producing wins on a regular basis all will be forgotten, but it does not make it right.

It is not fair way to conduct business to come into a town saying we are not re-buliding, we are built to win now, and by now obviously everyone knows that was not the truth, the facts speak for themselves, look around and see how many players or coaches you recognize from when he came in or even last year, and the record not being a winning record speaks for itself. Honesty is, as we have found out many times over, not McD’s trait, i.e.: We’ll keep you long term… sorry we have to let you go, many players went through that.

I really don’t think McD cares what anyone thinks, probably not even what Bowlen thinks ultimately, we are who we are, that’s the kind of HC we got. Will he ever get it right? How long will he get time wise to finally get his team winning without having to ever re-build? LOL, many questions to be answered in a not too distant future I hope, I mean one can only be so patient, since we are not re-building and we are not winning, what’s the problem then? Yeah I know injuries will be thrown my way, but every team gets injured ask the Packers right now, still have to find a way to win, that’s why you carry 53 men.

  20. baylinorcrush says:

strandoftds, I have some mixed feelings about that orange uniform thing. On one hand I loved wearing my 1986 Elway jersey to the sports bar along with old logo orange hat and T-shirt last Sunday. But on the other hand I can never forget that we only won our first superbowl the very first year we switched to the new uniforms. But heck I got a closet filled with both, so I’d be ready either way. My “orange crush” boat is orange top colored, so that tells you how much I love orange, loved seeing orange in the stadium last Sunday, so I guess I could put my vote up for orange, but with one big stipulation, it has to be exactly the same bright orange as the old jerseys, I don’t like the orange color on the new ones, not bright enough.

  21. baylinorcrush says:

BFE, thanks for the link, Harris might be a surprised trade chip, even I know you wouldn’t like it, but he really hasn’t done much fo us since last October.

  22. BeastFromEast92 says:

I would love to have Mankins at LG.It would stabilize our Oline for sure.

  23. dontdewittit says:

Glass half full = Broncos, Chargers, Raiders all tied for SECOND in the AFC west

Glass half empty = Broncos, Chargers, Raiders all tied for LAST in the AFC west

    LOL

  24. baylinorcrush says:

    Good one, haha.

  25. oldsouthstander says:

It’s a little surprising that McD hasn’t named a replacement on the 53 man roster yet. I suspect that he’s brought several players in for a look-see and will take whoever looks best. DL and LB seem to be the areas of greatest n eed.

  26. mike_rice says:

strandoftds…I’m not yet convinced about the Chiefs. Sweeping them won’t be easy but I still say it is definitely do-able. I also agree with dave Krieger about bringing back the orange uniforms on a permanent basis. 1) it’s time for a change any way and 2) I agree with Dave that it could be one element in the process of the Broncos’ re-establishing an identity. We all know that winning games is the best way to establish an identity but the orange jerseys could be a complimentary piece.

vabroncoguy…no arguments, this has been an up-and-down team since Coach McDaniels took over. The Broncos have been up-and-down in terms of their won-loss record and how they have played.

I think the Broncos are building but not rebuilding. Rebuilding implies being terrible to start with. That is not the case.

They are trying to build from where they have been in the recent past, which is pretty much in the middle of the pack.

When you make a coaching move and the new coach tries to simultaneously 1) establish his way of doing things, 2) change systems, 3) bring in his personnel and 4) still win games, that is a process.

I believe Coach McDaniels is realistic. I believe he is well aware of his team’s strengths, weaknesses and place in the NFL heirarchy. But no coach NFL coach is going to say anything other than there is an expectation to win, and win now. It just doesn’t work that way.

If you say that, you’re implying to your current players that when this team wins, it might very well be without you because you might be one of the guys who is part of the rebuilding process and won’t be here when we do win. When a coach uses the word “rebuilding,” the connotation is that the team is at (or near) bottom. I don’t think that is the case now nor when Coach McDaniels took over.

And let’s take it a step beyond the message to the players. What about the message to fans, season ticket holders or single game ticket buyers? How excited would anyone be if the message from the head coach is something along the lines of: Hey, we’re not very good right now but hang in there because next year, we should be?

Coach McDaniels isn’t out there saying the Broncos are better than they are. He hasn’t, in my opinion, been the source of unrealistic expectations. For any NFL team, the future is now. The goal is to win now.

At the beginning of the year, I didn’t believe the Broncos were an elite team. I didn’t believe the Broncos were a shoo-in for the playoffs. Certainly they’re trying to get there. I’m not going to toss out this season just because, as Mark Cooper blogged, they are taking steps in that direction. I know you aren’t going to, either.

Orange you glad…interesting approach, to root for your team to lose. Maybe you’re not rooting for that, but maybe expecting that to happen. It might turn out that way; we’ll have to wait and find out.

No high draft pick is a lock to be an NFL star. High draft picks are also really expensive and many times they don’t turn out to be worth the money. I want to see how good the Broncos can be this year rather than hope they lose and wait until next year, when again it will be no sure thing for them to accomplish anything.

The season is six games old. Yes, the Broncos are banged up. But with all the injuries, they still nearly beat one of the best teams in the AFC. It is way too early to toss the season out and not even consider a winning season. The Broncos have a great opportunity to be 4-4 at the bye week. If they are, then please let me know if you’re still not allowing yourself to even consider that they could have a winning season.

hometeam007…I agree there are positives even though the Broncos are 2-4. And I choose to lean on those positives. I’m not being unrealistic or naïve. Certainly they have some shortcomings and they aren’t hard to see.

But the Broncos have shown me things that lead me to believe they can make this a good season. As you suggest, now they have to continue producing the good play and make it pay off with a win over the Raiders.

BeastFromEast92…thanks for the kind words. No doubt the game against the Raiders is critical. A win and the Broncos take a big step in the division and back towards that .500 mark, the first goal in the overall record. A loss and the hole gets deeper.

Good comments, folks. Thanks for them.

    Mike

  27. Yovi21 says:

I like the idea on uniforms, but I think it would be cool if we brought it back for only one, maybe two, games.

Great post Mr.Rice, I’m with you. In no way is this season over! The broncos, IMO, look better and better every time they step on the field. The team is rapidly learning from their mistakes and fixing them. The rookies are making their mark early and despite early criticism i think this could be the greatest draft we have had since 2005 (that was with Marshall, Cutler, and Doom right?

Personally I believe the Chiefs and Broncos match up is going to be a good one, our good offense on their good D, their Average O on our average D, our biggest disadvantage/advantage is the bye we have the week before. Two weeks to prepare and get healthy, but also two weeks to relapse into mental mistakes!

GO BRONCOS!!! p.s. if Royal isn’t 100% sit him this week, I think this will be a great game for some of our younger receivers to gain experience!

  28. baylinorcrush says:

Yeah, no doubt your most valid point to me regarding the not re-buliding a team philosophy is money driven, some of the fans would definitely take a year off or so and wait until the re-building process is done, but even if it makes business sense, it’s hard to swallow for some of us fans who feel we are indeed re-buliding, even though I completely respect your opinion and explanation that we are not. Different views is all, keeps everybody honest.

  29. mike_rice says:

bay…absolutely. When a team is 2-4, things don’t feel too good. I respect your view as well. Mike

  30. baylinorcrush says:

Thank you, great discussion today, thanks for taking the time with us fans.

  31. mike_rice says:

You bet. I enjoy it. Mike

  32. BeastFromEast92 says:

Yeah,we all should take time and say thank you to Mike,I love how he lets the fans post what they think of his articles, and how he responds to the fans opinions, thanks Mike.

Do you think we will do any trading??

  33. The Dane says:

    Thanks for the links BFE.

I could see the Harris and the Jones trades happen but im not sure about the Mankins trade. NFL report that Mankins want a deal worth about 8 millon per season so the question is if we want to give someone a big contract at this point.

  34. baylinorcrush says:

Man, if we do any, talk about taking it to the last hour, seeing who bends first if we are indeed in negotiations with anyone is the only thing that would make sense, trying to get someting for less than it’s worth, but then you take a chance at being left with just crumbs, last hour business dealings going on, or maybe we are simply not interested in anyone, but I find that hard to believe considering our injuries, hence needs.

  35. mike_rice says:

BeastFromEast92…no problem. I enjoy finding out what you’re all thinking.

As far as trades go, I really don’t know. It is so hard to predict. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a move or two. Typically, trades seem to be more uncommon than common.

I know all of that isn’t saying too much but I simply don’t have a good feel.

    Mike

  36. baylinorcrush says:

I guess today is not a day off in the front office, haha.

  37. Broncos Born & Raised says:

Even though McDaniels doesn’t have all the pieces he wants on this team yet, he believed last season that he could win (after the first six games, I did too) and he believes the same this season. How realistic that idea is still remains to be seen. But you have to believe in order to give yourself the best shot, and my guess is McDaniels knows that. Like Mike, I’m in a “wait and see” mode.

Coincidentally I just watched America’s Game: The 1988 San Francisco 49ers last night. They were a team that was rebuilding. Their start to the season is very similar to ours this year. And as you all know, they eventually won the Super Bowl. They continued to improve, and when the playoffs came around they were entirely different team.

I know that it’s still possible for us to have a special season because it’s happened this way before, and our team has showed us they have the potential to be great. Is it likely that this is our year? No. Our team is young, injury ridden and we’ve already dug ourselves into a hole early. But if the team buys into McDaniels philosophy of constant improvement (which I think they already have) they have a reasonable chance at making the playoffs. This is the kind of season where nothing is going to be decided until very late.

  38. baylinorcrush says:

BTW, the trading deadline is in one hour 20 min. (4 pm eastern time).

  39. imready says:

I still think they can win the division and be competitive in the playoffs. There are a lot of young players but they are good players and with each game they improve. The coaching staff did a great job against the Jets, the play calling was the best I’ve seen since coach McDaniels started coaching this team. If they continue to play at least at the level
they did against the Jets they could win all the rest of their games. Go Broncos!

  40. Broncos Born & Raised says:

This scenario is making me anxious. I don’t know if I do or don’t want any trading to go on. I’ll be glad when it’s all said and done in about an hour.

  41. Broncfalls says:

    Hey Mike,

GREAT articles and look at you with the happy fingers today! LOL….

You know Mike, I truely think the Broncos have both hands on the steering wheel. I guess I see this whole thing like a long car ride with my wife and 3 kids all under the age of 7 LOL!

There’s a destination right? So I take off driving looking at the outdoors while enjoying some casual conversations with the company I’m in. Now, I’ve made this drive many times before but the last time we only had 2 kids. So it’s a little different. A pull over to change a diaper, a quick feeding and an occasional happy meal for the other two and we simply continue on the journey!

You have to watch out for disstractions though. Take a 13 hours car ride with 3 beautiful YOUNG kids and a wife that likes to chit chat and the car has been known to swerve just a tad…BUT my hands where still on the steering wheel. We still made it to the destination. Some years we made it faster than others. Some years the disstractions weren’t as common (less kids)…But you know what? I wouldn’t want to drive that path again without the same passengers. It’s who we are. It’s where we are going. It’s the journey and all that you learn in those 13 hours that you didn’t know before.

We’ll get there! Disspite the distractions, despiste the swerving in the road…I believe the hands are still on the wheel!

Goofy? Maybe but it’s the first thing that popped into my head LOL!

Take care Mike, and best wishes to your family & friends

    GO GET EM’ BOYS!

Actually that was pretty good, one of my saying in life is that ultimately it’s the journey that counts not the destination, in some ways you referred to some of that. But I know that’s appropriate about life, football is a bit different, the destination is something we all want to get to again, and we don’t really care how we get there, Shanny, Cutler, Marshall, McD, Doom, whatever journey we’re on who cares, just get there for gosh sakes, LOL.

I mentioned a Bailey trade a few weeks ago but I don’t think it’s going down.

It’s taboo, I know, I wouldn’t want to do it personally, but you would have to think you would get quite a bit of leverage with it, what kind of return would it take to make sense, secondary is our strength, just rambling.
