I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Given that the holiday season is now upon us, I wanted to take a break from talking football for just a few days. We still have plenty of time for that and it will be fun to watch the Broncos down the stretch.
In a time, however, when many people are in need and many people are hurting, I thought it worthwhile to take a moment to talk about how much the Broncos try to reach out and make this community a better place to live.
It is always easy to point to companies, organizations or people with a lot of resources, time or both as the ones who should be leading the way in helping others. We all have a part to play and the fact is the Broncos, both individually and as an organization, help people in amazing ways.
As an organization, the Broncos efforts in the community are remarkable. Their primary initiatives are with youth, health, hunger and homelessness. They donate generously to support the Broncos Boys and Girls Club in the Montbello area of Denver. The Broncos partner with Bonfils Blood Center to sponsor Drive For Life, a huge blood and bone marrow drive held at INVESCO Field at Mile High every October. They hold a food drive every year to provide to those in need. Those are just a few examples. It seems no matter where you look, the Broncos are involved in helping people.
And that is to say nothing of what the players themselves do. For example, Champ Bailey does incredible work with the Denver Rescue Mission. Daniel Graham and Darrell Reid have foundations that are reaching out to help youth. Tony Scheffler and his wife are involved in work with ill children. Even John Lynch, who no longer plays, continues to provide opportunities to young people in the Denver area through his foundation. There are many, many other players who make it a point to do what they can to make people’s lives better.
The list goes on and on and on. And too often the work the Broncos do goes unnoticed. I’m sure those doing the work aren’t motivated by being recognized for it. They do it because they want to help people. And they are doing that. They aren’t just talking the talk; they are walking the walk.
Cindy Kellogg is the Broncos’ Vice President of Community Development. She and Kelly Woodward, the Director of Community Development, simply do outstanding work coordinating the organization’s efforts in the community. While I know both of them, they didn’t ask me to write about this topic. And I know them well enough to know they certainly don’t take credit for the great work the organization and the players do.
At the same time, I believe it is important that fans know that the Broncos have committed a great deal of both financial resources and time to do what they can to improve the lives of as many people as possible.
Every year, the Broncos do everything they can to be winners on the field. But I know they have long been winners for what they do off the field. In my book, that is just as important.
Thank you, Broncos.
And thanks to you for reading. I’ll get back to talking about football in the next entry.
Happy holidays to you and yours,
Mike

Thanks Mike. It’s great to here from someone that is intricatly woven into the Broncos Organization. You know things that True fans aspire to know and be apart of. When you post things like this I gain a deeper connection with the team. I am sure many others agree.
the broncos have and will allways be a classy organization…they help others in need…and are a model for many other organizations to follow!
I TOTALLY AGREE W/ CHAMP24THE BEAST.
Great Post Mike,
It is always nice to hear positive things that the players and organization are doing in the community.
This time of year always puts things in perspective. We complain when the Broncos loose and cheer when they win but all and all it is just a game. There are a lot more important things in life and there are a lot of people that are in need. It is nice to see all the players and organization step up for good causes.
Same here, I always like to see the fortunate ones, the ones with the big bucks, helping out the very much less fortunate. There is such a disparity of income in this world, it is a must for the well off to help the ones who are struggling, often to no fault of their own. Keep doing the right thing!
On another note, have you guys noticed how since the Giants shellacking, this blog has been totally depleted of the Orton/ McD/ whoever Bronco bashers? It is so peaceful here now, I just hope for a win Sunday so we can keep it that way, I believe we will. Winning cures all ails, even gets rid of the bashers. LOL.
Awsome. I remember one of my little league banquets where Mike Harden handed out our trophies, that was cool. To bad things didn’t work out for Mike.
HAHA, yaa…man i just can’t believe how much disrespect denver gets. I mean…it’s fine with me cuz we go under the radar all year…but we desearve some respect…but its ok i guess proving people wrong is better right???
whos mike harden…?lol
champ24, flying under the radar is the easiest way to go, being undefeated right now would be murder, IMO.
Mike Harden was the right cornerback in the Redskins SB.
ya. ok,……gotcha. i agree, and see….us denver fans are realistic…we dnt wanna get cockey! we would be if we were undefeated lol.
Thanks Denver Broncos orginiztion for all that you do.
So sounds like Harris has a good chance of starting on Sunday which is awesome news. Hopefully that’ll help out our running game also.
I don’t know much about this Charles RB but I hear he’s fast and hopefully the D will shut him down.
The “Bashers” aren’t neccesarily mad at McD or Orton or whoever over personal matters. It just we all get mad when we lose or when McD calls some crazy bubble screen on 3rd and forever. All the bashers are just bashing the reasons why we lost. Now if McD cut you off in traffic and Orton door dinged your Porsche then that’d be a personal matter and if it were my Porsche I’d bash Orton for it too LOL! Its good not to see any bashers after a win, which means the bashing is a result of losing and not any personal feelings toward the Broncos. Even though Orton door dinged my Porsche..I hate your Orton..naww I’m just joking he didn’t door ding my Porsche..I’m just joking I don’t even own a Porsche. LOL!!
Let’s bring the pain to KC and leave them with a blunt tipped Arrowhead!!
Go Broncos!!!!
He also started in the Giants SB.
brian, I am not talking about these type of guys, I’m talking about the 4 or 5 guys who have been bashing all year long, even when we were on the winning streak, and I won’t name them, but you know who they are, and none of them has been here since Thanksgiving, that’s all, that was my point. Thanks for the Porsche story, though, a bit off left field, you always have funny references to stuff, is it a North Dakota thing? LOL.
@baylinorcrush: HAHAH aww, I think you made a joke not even knowing it…is it a North Dakota thing. LOL! Well I’m from South Dakota and I just think its me tryin’ not to be too boring on the blog. But we make fun of North Dakota people cuz they’re weird. So when you said “is it a North Dakota thing?” I died laughing. Great stuff.
Yeah sometimes I’m not even in left field..I’m plain out of the stadium LOL!!
So I think we should just blitz the heck out of Cassel and force him to make some errors. I know McD knows Cassel and maybe has some insider info but he’s young and mobile and if we just let him sit in the pocket I think he can get through our stout D. I really want Charles and Cassel to be introduced to the Denver D..since they haven’t been properly introduced yet this season.
Go Broncos!!!!
Glad I could make your day without even realizing it, but it makes sense, in general, the South always makes fun of the North and vice versa… About guys to worry about, I include Chambers in there, got to control him, he killed us before when he was with the Chargers, and I hear he has already become Cassel’s main weapon.
Interesting note in SD he was having some issues with drops, not in KC he seems to be catching everything. Plus against PIT, he made their D look like they were standing still on that last big gainer. Yeah we better watch out for him too. Is Charles their return man also?
Hey! Check this out… it made my day

Made by Chicago Bears Fans!
Oh, there’s a new blog… going there.
Yeah, I gather, but I hear he is also a great tackler going the other way on ST, he gets down the field fast and hits hard, pretty impressive kid all around, we’ll see first hand.
One of my friends is a huge Bears fan. Last season he was sayin’ that all the Bears needed was a QB like Cutler, this was before all the craziness. He was sayin’ with Forte and Hester it would be like a three-headed monster. I told him Cutler throws more un-timely interceptions than timely TDs. I told him that trade would never happen…then…craziness happened. Through it all my buddy was in 7th Heaven he was talkin’ SB and all that jazz. I told him they’d be lucky if Cutler didn’t throw 30 interceptions this season. He told me Orton was going to suck and this n that. Oh how the tables have turned ahahahahahahah (in an evil laugh). Just thought I’d share that, believe it or not, I have more non-Bronco fan friends than Bronco fan friends. They drive me banana sandwhich..LOL!
Go Broncos!!!!
that website about trading cutler, i commented on it, and i told the bears they need a good coach for cutler to be good. he wa good under shanny, and i think with the right coach he can be good. but guess what we got a better qb in orton baby!
Hey I am from ND, AND Kupler played at UND. Go Fighting Sioux and GO BRONCOS!!
OPPS Kuper as in SUPER KUPER!!! The only NFL lineman to start every game and not allow a sack last year.He like a lot of BRONCOS should be at the Probowl.
go broncos
Mike,It’s great to see the Broncos organization and the players involved with many different programs in the community. It’s great to see the players and those in need become “intertwined” together for a worthy cause. It sends the message they do care for those in need. This is a great experience for the players.. gives them a good insight to the underlying current of the problems and concerns in mainstream society. In addition to see that their contributions really do matter.
Too many of us here on the website get wound up so tight, we tend to lose sight of what really is important.
Peace to all… rbf1.
The Broncos are a very admirable group of football players. It’s been so cool to watch them help people on their own time with their own money. They’re great guys and great athletes and I can’t wait to see what they continue to do to bless others.
brian_schneider: Both tnalen and myself come from N.D along with starting guard Chris Cooper and Tyrone Braxton (remember Chicken?)Thats fightin words in the Great White North calling us weird. When TROPICAL Dakota became a state they couldn’t think of a name so they stole ours and just added South to it! LMAO……………
Speaking of that, I will be heading up to the Great White North tomorrow and TROPICAL Dakota on monday so I better get my picks in now. Forget all the Hoopla (North Dakota word dont cha know lol……) surrounding the dominance of the Chiefs in December. Barring turnovers and stupid penalties this game should be dominated by the Broncos. Their defense is the slowest in the league which should mean a great game for Moreno (25 carries for 125+ yards and 2 TD’s). Orton will pass for over 300+ and will burn the Chiefs secondary especially down the middle of the field.
Biggest threat for defense is stopping Charles (world class sprinter). This will be accomplished by staying in our gaps and not over pursuing the ball carrier. Corners will man up with Bailey on Chambers leaving Cassel in the pocket too long looking for his recievers to get open. Doom has a big day with 3+ sacks and the Broncos leave Arrowhead in a 35-10 blowout!.
Now if someone could tell me where I could go to watch the Broncos game in Grand Forks, N.Dak I would sure appreciate it! (tnalen, any suggestions?). The Broncos are scheduled for the early game along with the Vikings so this might be easier said than done. lol……
whitebronco, thanks for the laugh on tradejaycutler. That was to good.
Go broncos
