After Sunday’s win over the Vikings, the Broncos found themselves tied for first in AFC West.
Oh, this season is getting really interesting.
How far can the Broncos go? I won’t hazard a guess because I wouldn’t want to limit them. I’m certainly not looking at the price of plane tickets to Indianapolis in February at this point. But I wouldn’t be surprised by anything that happens the rest of the season, however long it lasts.
After the win over the Vikings, defensive lineman Elvis Dumervil offered a key to future success when he spoke with 850KOA Radio about the Broncos’ being tied for first place.
“It’s hard to get to that spot and even harder to remain there,” Dumervil said. “We have to continue to work. I think we have four more games left. We have three at our hose so we have to take care of business.”
That kind of approach just might work wonders. There was certainly no dancing in the locker room after the Broncos dispatched of the Vikings.
“In the NFL, you can’t get too high; you can’t get too low,” Dumervil continued. “You have to stay consistent; you have to have a grinding mentality. We have to continue to work hard and get better.”
I like that the Broncos don’t think they have accomplished anything yet. I like that they are talking about continuing to work hard and improve. And I love the fact that they are playing as a team right now and seemingly everyone is contributing.
“We’re just going to keep battling. That’s what we do,” linebacker Jason Hunter told 850KOA on Sunday. “The offense is going to pick up the defense, the defense will pick up the offense and the special teams will pick up everybody. That seems to be our recipe. If you look at all our games, that’s what we’ve been doing. We’re going to continue to focus and guys will continue to work. We’ll look at this game and clean this game up and get ready for Chicago.”
He’s right. It has been a recipe that has produced some thrilling results lately. Next up on the menu?
Bear.
No doubt the Broncos hope to make home cooking as tasty as it has been on the road. Denver has won five consecutive road games and now closes out the season with three of the last four games at home.
They have the chance to go as far as they want to go. I’m going to sit back and enjoy the ride to see where all of this leads.
How far can the Broncos go? Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Mike

I agree with Doom and Hunter that it’s all about the mentality! As long as they look at themselves as a work in progress, the Broncs can rely less on good luck and mistakes by the opponent, and more on skill, talent, and determination. Assuming we can have a basically healthy team, I am completely psyched for this next game. And that’s a feeling I haven’t had yet this season.
I sense some major damage headed towards Chicago’s Offense. I think we add significantly to the plus side of our turnover ratio. Come on, Sunday!!!!
All I can say is I feel sorry for hanie when Von Doom comes for his head. With Forte down for the count too … its gonna be tough on them. But all we gotta do is handle ours. Never rely on others to faulter or other teams to lose and etc … just take care of our own, like taking care of assignments on the field. This team as untalented and random as it is could make a superbowl run … im sure worse teams have made it in the past … and if the coaches keep making spledid half time adjustments … we on the way. Im just glad to be winnign again and wanna enjoy it. Im so excited at this teams potential that I am almost already thinking past this season to next years draft that would make this team even more formidable … but thats a mistake. The future is now. Lets handle it.
The Season Is Ours For The Taking! Go Broncos!! Later days, TRB out!!!
Btw, its official … no sunday night game for Broncos Patriots … unfortunately … game woulda been a big on. Woulda been nice for it to be on the national stage. And as a non Denver resident or midwest for that matter in general … woulda been a much gauranteed shot at watching the game TRB.
Actually, the way I understand it, by virtue of the tiebreaker, we are sitting in 1st place above the Raiders. But, we also need to just take this one game at a time and only worry about the one game coming up each week. Not look at the long picture, just the short one week picture. We have the potential to take this too the house if we play the way we have been playing. I truly believe that.
This season has been the most down and up then any other season then ive seen. Tebow is getting everything together now with his feet. Miller is becoming everything that we all hoped he would be. DOOOM is BACK! Champ is being Champ. Truthfully i think we can win the AFC West. As for Playoffs. If it holds like it has been we will be meeting the Steal Curtain and that right there is going to be the ultimate test to this team.
Im stoked on this ride this year and going to keep on going
Yep TRB we have been screwed again for watching the game. Last weekend FOX televised the game over 95% of the country, and it was not televised here.
If we win the AFC West we will have home field advantage, correct?
Really? couldn’t find a feed but it was on Fox for me interestingly enough. TRB
Yes if we go into the playoffs as a divisional champ … we will at least have homefield advantage for the wildcard round. Our practice on the road, winning games could help us in the playoffs. TRB
Oh no, we had the Bucs game here. Two counties east of me was the Broncos game and one county south the same, but here in the local Tampa Bay tv viewing area we had to have the Bucs.
Who gets 1st round bye in the playoffs?
Wow. Just got done watching “Tebowcenter” earlier. I agree with Mr. Rice. I wouldn’t be surprised by anything that happens at this point. haven’t been on for a bit, and won’t be on too much for the next week and a half or so. Got home from Missouri and got right in the thick of things for school. Then I got REAL sick. Then my birthday came that weekend. I have to say the win against the Vikings the day after my B day was the best present I could’ve asked for. The second best – a Reebok number 15 jersey my roomate bought for me. This kid is only a casual sports fan, but he was attentive when I talked about my hero Timmy. He wanted to give it to me for Christmas but couldn’t wait. Tears filled my eyes when I pulled that orange jersey out of the gift bag for a lot of reasons. But I gotta stay off of here or I won’t get my school stuff done and finals start tomorrow for me. GO BRONCOS!
BBR, school comes first. Bronc on bud!!!

Thanks for the link dawg. Appreciate that.
Indeed .. school comes first.
First roudn bye oes to top 2 seats … who are currently the ravens and patriots I beleive. TRB … or is it the Texans and Patriots … who the heck knows … u can see it on “If the season ended today” on NFL. TRB
I fill that if they continue to work hard & keep their minds on one game at a time & Tebow continues to improve his passing from the pocket they can go all the way. Good things come to those who work hard to get where they are. “GO BRONCOS & HAVE FAITH.”
looks like the game will be on in Maryland … sweet … sorry Seweather … no dice in Florida once again.
TRB
BBR, good for you bro! I`m happy for you dude!
Top two seeds (Highest winning records) get the bye at this point its NE & HOU.
Man Bronco Country is deffinately buzzing hard! Although props go out to Tim, this turn around has also been a result of a combined defensive unit and ST’s. The three teams doing what they should. I’m not too fussed over the yardage, what matters is the points allowed.
@ TBR ~ I totally agree with you and taking a game by game approach the lads understand the limits of the circle of influenece. Continue to win, and the rest will fall in place.
Never underestimate your opponent, no matter how wounded they maybe how wounded they appear to be. Play hard, leave nothing on the field!!
GO BRONCOS!!!
DOH sorry TRB lol
Mike great post,as always,I believe we can go as far as our Secondary will take us,because it is our weakest link!
B&R wear that Orange Tebow jersey proud son!!!
BFE, whats up bro?!
Keep the wheels turning on the Tebow Train, and keep churnin’ out wins!
Hey strand,not much bro….and you?
Doing well. Go Orange n Blue!!
TnT is now in affect!! LOL
Orange over Blue this Sunday,lol.
TnT……….huh, sounds like a winning combination to me!
Nice one. LOL
Lets Rock the House come sunday, TNT OY!!
oy,oy,oy,TnT,oy,oy,oy,TnT!!!!!Dynamite!!!
Dude, Chicago doesn`t have a chance bro!
Da Bears have a good Defense, but their Offense is in bad shape, but so was the Vikes, and we almost lost that one dude,I hope the team isn’t looking past them to the Pats, could be a trap game, but I don’t think so,I think we will dominate them with some Tnt,and VonDoom!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TnT+VonDoom=KABOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike, thanks for the write up. This is the funnest time of the year, the good teams rise to the occasion and the rest go home until next season. This is what it`s all about. We`re in good position, thats all I ask. BRING IT!!!
I truely think we will dominate them. I don`t know the outcome of the score, but their O is horrid.
I think I picked us 23-13,outta respect of their Defense and STs.
In all honosty, I want to see the Broncos with Tebow try out some 5 WR sets since the Bears pass defense is so bad. Lets see McCoy open up the passing game alot in this game.
If we can’t beat them,we have no business in the playoffs!
I wanna see how our O fairs against a good aggressive D!
I hear ya. Hester is their main man.
I’d like to see some kind of spread Offense with 4/5 WRs too!
If we lose this game, we`re done.
I think McCoy is getting better at playcalling,he’s getting better as Tebow gets better,if he continues to get better maybe McCoy will open up the playbook for him.
Heck ya, and watch out for Peppers and Urlacher. Got to respect those guys.
Well said, and keep our D off the field in the process.
I think we can take the Division with a win against KC and Buffalo!!
I see the Faders losing at least 2 games, that would leave us tied we win the tie breaker!
SD and KC are done!!!
I pick us to go 34-3. Kind of a reach. LOL
Yuppers!!!
Man it`s been a while to say the Broncos and playoffs in the same sentence.
