It was, by all accounts orange and blue, a good time had by all.
The Broncos brought the hammer down on the Raiders, 23-3, Sunday afternoon in Oakland. What little there was of the Silver and Black before the blowout, undoubtedly nothing remained after. It was a team effort of terrific proportions.
“We talked all week about needing to play well in three phases in order to beat this team at home,” Broncos’ head coach Josh McDaniels told 850 KOA after the game. “We got a great effort by our kicking units, did a nice job defensively stopping the run (and) creating some turnovers and offensively dominated the time of possession.”
I’ll dispense of the obligatory “it was just the Raiders” preface and get right to the point: The Broncos have played pretty well to this point in the season.
That trend continued Sunday as they ran their record to 3-0. All the Broncos can do is beat the team that is on the schedule that week. They not only did that, but I thought continued to show improvement, even though it is tough to get a true measure of just how much improvement given the opposition was the Raiders.
Still, the Broncos showed me a few things that suggest they are becoming a team.
1 – They seem to have the makings of what could be a great defense. Against Oakland, the Broncos allowed three points, gave up only 137 yards of total offense and 42 net yards passing, forced three turnovers and collected three sacks. They certainly come close to numbers like that in either meeting against the Raiders a year ago.
I realize that the Broncos’ have faced Cleveland and Oakland, two teams with offenses that hardly have a pulse. But they still went out and crushed them. They got the job done.
Cincinnati’s offense seems to be better than what it showed in the season opener against the Broncos. I don’t know how good the Bengals are, but I know the Broncos held them to seven points and controlled the line of scrimmage for most of the game.
“Any time you don’t let them score more than six or seven points in a game, you have a great opportunity to win it,” McDaniels told 850 KOA on Sunday. “We know that will be tough to keep that pace up. We play a lot of good football teams coming up. But we feel we have a good defense. Those guys believe in each other and believe in what we’re doing.”
I believe, too.
2 – The Broncos’ running game can be downright scary. Correll Buckhalter rushed for 108 yards against Oakland and Knowshon Moreno added another 90 yards and a touchdown. The Broncos racked up 215 rushing yards and through three games are averaging nearly 160 yards rushing per game.
Assuming they stay healthy, Buckhalter and Moreno are going to be a great one-two punch. They are both talented but also different types of runners. And there is nothing like having at least two guys to whom you can turn every game.
“It allows us to stay fresh,” Buckhalter told 850 KOA. “We have no complaints. Whoever is in there, me, Knowshon or LaMont (Jordan), we’re going to get the job done.”
So far they have. If they continue to do so at this pace, the Broncos will win plenty.
3 – The special teams are making a difference. The Broncos kickoff return unit is allowing an average of 21.8 yards per return with a long return of 31 yards. The punt coverage team is giving up an average of 10.0 yards per return with a long of 17 yards.
No longer are we seeing the Broncos get gashed on special teams. They are more than holding their own, thus forcing teams to face a longer field.
So far, the Broncos are off to a good start.
In fact, as a team, they are off to a really good start. Now the schedule starts to get interesting. The Broncos will host the Cowboys and the Patriots the next two weeks, and then they’ll go to San Diego before getting a bye at the end of October.
It will be fun to find out how good the Broncos really are.
Thanks for reading. Feel free to share your thoughts about the win over the Raiders.
Best,
Mike

i really think this team is gonna go to the playoffs and maybe further
i think the team has used these first few weeks to bond and figure out strenghts and weaknesses so hopefully we can fix the weaknesses if there are any and build on the strenghts
This team is working hard and earning thier stripes. Nobody has given them respect and probably won’t until later in the season. The defense is a complete turn around from last year. I love the fact that they all say there is still work to do. Stay humble< stay focused, and they may just wind up shocking everyone. I can’t wait to see them face Dallas at home next week.
Orange Crush is back again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is an interesting fact from Schefter.
RT @broncotalk Denver is holding opp to 5.3 ppg. Against other Ds the Bengals, Browns and Raiders av 18.3 ppg
about 10 hours ago from UberTwitter
Hey Mike,
thanks for your sentimentsw on our beloved Broncos. I agree we will be tough to beat if we continue our dominance on D and running the ball as well as we have.
Wow..Wow..Wow..
The defense is compared to night and day from last year. We’re seeing turnovers, pass rushes, flying to the ball carrier, and stopping the run. It really is the exact opposite of what we did last season. I thought we sat on a lot of things and didn’t attack. Well we’re attacking this season and Dumervil, man this guy may deserve a Pro Bowl after this season.
The offense is still improving, first game not a whole lot, second game a little more, and now this third game we were moving along pretty good. I would have liked to see Hillis pound it in at the goaline, but ya win some lose some I guess. The up side to that I loved McDaniels going for it. Hopefully getting the door shut doesn’t deter him from choosing to go for it again down at the goaline on 4th.
Glad to see Marshall getting more involved. He definately seems to have changed his attitude, and I’m glad to see that. Orton, still hasn’t thrown a pick, knock on wood. Our Buckhalter/Moreno combo seems to be working out for the better. Still think we should get Hillis more involved, maybe with some quick screens or something like that, just my opinion.
And it wouldn’t be a good post if I didn’t rant a bit.
First, people cant be happy for us being 3-0. They call the first games easy..hey, Cinci beat the Pack and the Steelers. Hello..Super Bowl champs. Cleveland, they put up 26 points against the Vikes, and Oakland, they gave SD a run for their money, and took care of KC, maybe not in total fashion but they got it done. So to those people they’re no pushovers, sure Oakland isn’t THAT good, but a win is a win. And while yes, we will see just how well we need to be coming up in the next several weeks, when we play the toughest part of our schedule, but whos to say we won’t get some Ws.
Lastly, while Orton doesn’t make the big throws like Cutler, Elway, Plummer, he also doesn’t throw interceptions. So while I don’t mind taking chances down field it is nice to see a QB just throw it away sometimes. People bashin’ him for doing it, hey he’s not forcing it in and if he did, then you’d bash him for throwing a pick. And don’t even say you wouldn’t, last season I saw plenty of..”Why heck did Cutler throw that, what was he thinking, idiot, sit him on the bench, he’s losing the game for us” and on and on etc, etc. So while he won’t maybe give the long bomb every game, he’s giving us a chance to win and not making our defense in a bad spot. Maybe that’s why our D is working so well, they aren’t put in tought situations by the offense turning the ball over. And when they are they totally bust McFadden and get it right back. LOL
But hey, he gives us a chance to win and isn’t that what we want to win?
Good post. I’m just a little confused. It says the Broncos punt coverage are allowing an average of 19 yards per return with a long of 17 yards. If the longest return is only 17 yards then how could the average be 19 yards?
Yea I agree with you brian about Orton. I’d much rather have a qb who plays smart and mistake free if it equates to more wins, however, Orton is going to have to start picking it up eventually and taking some more chances with the football if we wanna win some games in our tough schedule. Teams like Baltimore and NY for example are going to test us with everything we have and if we have no deep ball, we may be in trouble.
I’d love to see Royal on a long ball and I would love to see Marshall on a long ball. I do think we need to take more shots down field. I think as the season goes on Marshall will become more involved. Since he missed most of camp he’s a bit behind. Orton and Marhall may not be quite in sync. Hopefully that will come with more practice and games. Sometimes I think though that McDaniels plays the short passes hoping that the safeties and CB will start playing the short routes more, and then set up for a long bomb. In the past 2 games, the teams never really defended the shorter routes that well so maybe McDaniels just kept doing what was working. Look at Brady, he throws the deep ball a lot to Moss. Why does that work well Moss is fast, but they dink and dunk until the safeties come up and make one wrong step and “Kapow” 6 points. So that’s what I’m hoping for. You know I do I don’t mind when QBs throw ints especially when they are maybe trying a long ball to stretch the field. While I like Orton not having any INTs, I’ve come to the fact that he’ll eventually give up one and maybe that’s what he needs to get out of his head…The first one. Then maybe we’ll take more shots down field. Just a thought.
The Broncos played AWESOME D
Whether Orton is taking shots downfield or not, the broncs are winning games. That’s really what matters. They’re doing what works, why change that? Once it’s not working, then it would be nice to see some bombs, but honestly, there’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing right now.
Great game! As long as they beat the Raiders, I’m happy. Defense is so solid, not giving up an inch. The offense is starting to open things up and I think will keep on improving each practice and game. So excited and happy for the Defense. Elvis is a monster and I LOVE the secondary gobbling up interceptions!! Should be a good game next week, and I believe we can do it!!
GO BRONCOS!!!
Champ matched up on Williams all day, and the way our D is playing I’m expecting some more picks. And some more sacks.
Well, I was not surprised with the outcome of the game yesterday. I’ve felt confident in the past about road games but the last 2 years I just didn’t feel as confident. Yesterday while watching the morning games I began to feel really confident about the teams chances in Oakland. After that win I’m convinced this team is good and the Defense is really good! The comintator yesterday made a great point when he said the defense just get’s better as the game goes. 2 sacks and a forced fumble in the 4th quarter……that’s what you call playing for 60 minutes! There’s been no let up and that’s evident with the defenses play. Brian Dawkins has been such a huge addition and his positive presence can be seen on the field. Doom is turning into a beast, I knew he had a down year last year as he was battling injuries but dang is he excelling in this new 3-4 defense!
2 headed monster in the backfield and it was nice to see B-Marsh get going. Smart move by McD to limit Stokely’s PT, I know Stokely was nursing a bad wheel so good move on McD’s part to use him sparingly. Orton looked good, he’s managing the game well and he’s throwing a good ball for having that glove on at this rate he may want to keep that glove on! Loved the back side screen play to Graham, we were facing 3rd and long I believe and that play caught the Raiders D off guard and that was a huge pick up.
Would like to see more TD’s than FG’s when we are in the Red Zone against better teams we are going to have to convert those into TD’s, FG’s won’t be enough to beat the teams we have upcoming on our schedule.
It’s only Monday but I’m hoping this week goes by fast as I’m really looking forward to the Broncos/Cowboys game this weekend! Keep it going boys, have a good week of practice and let’s focus on the Cowboys!
3-0 is nice, 4-0 would be better!
Go Broncos!
Whooops! Meant Tony ROMO. Oh, well. I can live with it.
Phenominal game Guys. I was blown away with all aspects of our team. Through three weeks, we look a hell ofa lot better than I thought we would. Granted, Cle and Oak are pretty bad, but as stated above, Oak did give SD a run in the opener, and Cinci has beat 2 pretty good teams the past 2 weeks, but that’s about all we can guage our success on. But we’re 3-0 and rolling with a full head of steam. Dumervil seems to really be taking to his new position just fine, and I think I even saw Ayers record a tackle or two yesterday. GREAT JOB GUYS, EVERY LAST ONE OF YA! We all needed this. But now comes the true test, I believe, as the schedule hits the rockier part. But our team is tough, and playing as one, and it’s gonna be hard for anybody to shake this foundation we’ve established.
Great story on our coach. I love it.
http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/4447/broncos-believe-they-have-a-special-coach
still sporting that ear 2 ear grin from yesterdays game, SWEET!!! our D kicks butt, starting to see the strategy with KO and gotta hand it to him no interceptions is really helping the team, as we move forward our offense is starting to come together and as the season progresses we just keep getting better and better, next weekend the cowgirls come to town to get their tails whopped by the orange crush, gotta love it
GO BRONCOS
23-3 in the black hole, gotta love it!
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly for the 3rd week:
The Good:
On O: Marshall had an excellent outing (have to give him credit when it’s due) 4 short passes caught, one long one over Asomugha, arguably the best CB in the league, a nicely designed run nearly up the middle and at least one good block, full day’s work. Great protection from the O line once again, no sack, meaning Clady has now tied the record for no full sack allowed by an O lineman at the beginning of their career with 19 consecutive games (he has 1/2 sack on his stat sheet), so he can break the record Sunday against the Cowboys. What a 1st round pick he was! Same great job by the O line on opening up lanes for the running game, over 200 yards! Buckhalter showed why he is our #1 RB with over 100, and Moreno showed why he is our #2 with 90 or so. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Moreno had a run up the middle which looked like a “spinning crab run” , very impressive and congrats on your 1st NFL TD. Gaffney, when called did very well, took over on one scoring drive with 3 catches.
On D: Have to start with Doom who now has 6 sacks, only 1 behind NFL leader Antwan Odom. Then the turnovers keep on happening, we are officially out of the drought, here comes the flood… Renaldo Hill gets his 1st one, imagine that, who even remembered we had safeties after last year… Goodman does the same, I really think he is as good as we have seen in years on the right side. Both INT’s were on long bombs, we knew they were coming and they took care of it, one of the top secondary in the NFL, if not the best! Absolutely one of the all time smartest move when Dawkins steps out of bounds and re-establishes himself in bounds BEFORE he recovers the fumble, Dawkins, there is no better, plain and simple. Also Haggan played well and DJ got back in the groove leading all tacklers.
On ST: Prater keeps kicking them deep and made all his FG’s, even on the dirt, not exactly automatic.
The Bad:
On O: I hate to bring up his name again, but Hillis blew it again for us at the beginning of the game for the 2nd week in a row, this time with a stupid penalty on 1st and goal at the 1, then we end up coming out of there with no points. McD calling for a Moreno run at the goal line! What! We have Jordan, Hillis, guys who can pound the ball, and he calls Moreno’s #? Had to settle for FG. Another questionable call, the pass to Marshall down the middle with 2 minutes left to get a 1st down, but at what cost, looks like BM might of sustain some injury on that play. I mean, we were leading by 20 points, what about the safer route with a run up the middle, whether we get the first down or not certainly wont affect the outcome of the game. That’s why we got Jordan, to run the clock out with big leads. Buckhalter’s fumble at the 10!
On D: Man with a D like that it’s hard to find anything bad about it!
On ST: Other than Prater, not bad but uninspiring as a whole, they don’t make costly mistake but they don’t make big plays either, plenty of room for improvement there.
The Ugly:
It is the Raiders week, so of course it all belongs to the Raiders. Clady’s hair pull!!!! It reminded me of the pulling Polamalu out of bounds by the hair play, but this one was in the trenches, for no reason, and he wouldn’t let go…only a Raider, classic!
And the Raider fans, by far the Ugliest in the NFL, but I’ll say that, they boo better than any other fans, except, no one has told them that you boo the OTHER team. LOL.
Broncos are playing great!! It is amazing what new “Coaches” and a few player pickups can do. Where have all the McDaniel bashers go. The next three weeks will tell it all. They all said we didn’t focus on Defense enough on the off season(what do they know), McD did what he thought we needed and look now 3-0!!! Doom is dominating, secondary are making turnovers, line are stopping the run, and offense is controlling the clock with the run(been awhile). Everyone that thought McD wasn’t the answer needs to stop and look back at some off there past commits and thank him for the direction we are heading. The gunslinger team we turned into last your fell way short so did others(N.O.) that had no D. Thank you McD I’ve always had faith. I think a couple shots down field would be nice and open the offense more but Orton is winning games and it will come soon enough. GO BRONCOS!!! SHOW THEM WHAT YOUR MADE OF!!!
I can’t wait until next week. If we beat those cowboys we will show we are for real.
like how Orton threw the ball away a couple times when there was nobody open. Smart football!
D-fense was amazing, add 2 sacks to Doom’s stats. B-Dawk is like the foundation of our defense because he’s like having a coach playing out there on the field, such a great leader.
I liked what Rich Gannon the announcer said about McD and what he took away from Belichek, which was that every Wednesday of the week there’s a team meeting and McD points out to the players exactly what they need to do to win in all three phases of the game. What a smart thing to do! We are a different football team each week depending on our opponent. Of course, our faith in the team always remains.
Thank you Mr. B for hiring this man as our coach!
I live in Texas and I just hope so bad that we humiliate and demoralize the Cowpies. Everyone will have to recognize the D in Denver stands for D-fense!!!!
dont count your chickens guys. we played well the 1st two weeks against two teams that wont make the playoffs. the win against the bengals was big and lucky. and the win against cinci was a win against a good team as they put up 31 on green bay and beat pittsburgh late. they will have a good season.
but next week is against dallas, who usually starts the season with fast starts. they have an explosive offense that will give our #1 D a test. tony romo might be an iconsistant quarterback, but he is a talented one as well. he doesnt have great armstrength, but when he is on fire, he can be one of the most accurate passers in the NFL. they have the league’s #1 run game, which will test nolan’s 3-4. we need to be solid up front, and maybe stack the line with 8 by bringing up the Dawk.
As for the offense, we need to run the ball down their throat! we have a lethal 1 2 punch with Bucky and Knowshone-USE THEM! we all know what a good running game does to a qb. we could do what we always do: run to pass. limit orton as much as possible. i dont trust him enough to lead us to some big wins. if we get into an offensive showdown, i dont think we can win with orton. he is doing fine with the 5-10 yard completions to good receivers. he is dink and dunk, and if we get into a high scoring affair, we will ask him to do things he cant. this is one of the main reasons why i miss Jay.
so as i conclude this blog, my point is:
PLAY HARD DEFENSIVELY AND KICK THEIR ASS UP FRONT!!!
RUN THE BALL DOWN THEIR THROATS!!
GO BRONCOS!!
one more thing; give the ball to eddie alot more. he is our most athletic offensive player and a weapon we need to use.
And the O in Oakland Stands for Offense…..Oh, wait thats right.
3 things.
1. Buckhalter is a much better offseason pick up than i thought he would be.
2. idc how much drama nd kiddy crybaby stuff he brings to the table, B.Marsh is the most sure handed WR ive seen.
3. No matter how good we play. The tv reporters nd analysts are gonna keep doubting nd talkin trash until we finish these next 3 games coming up. Nd im ok with that cuz i think well do jus fine
1 more thing were ranked first in both yards allowed per game nd points allowed per game. nd second in passing yards per game. how are we still gettin so much sh#t talk. Are u kiddin me This is a good team.
I see that the Pats offence is not so effective without Josh, the question is how much is this down to him. It is going to be interesting when we get to play them.
As for all those who are still insulting our Broncos, and the idiot media still asking Josh about Cutler, ignore them just like Josh does. None of that is important.
You will see all aspects of the team improving as Josh coaches them. The Defense will improve (hard to believe I know) and get more turnovers. The Offense will become more efficient, have a better cutting edge and be more explosive in the red zone, and Special Teams will make more plays.
All-in all a great start for a talented young Coach.
BAYLIN!!!! Say it aint so?!?!? compliments to Bmarsh?!?!? lol, j/k, I know u give credit where credit is due, one of the reason i like reading your posts along with some others.
Agreed with all you said on the good the bad and the ugly. I like that McD had enough balls to go for it on 4th down both those times. Showed he had faith in our defense. Like he said on the first one “The guys had worked so hard to get down there and I believed they deserved all the opportunity in the world to put it in”. The second one with Marshalls catch over the second best CB in the league behind champ, great play by marsh, saw some sync, but yes a little costly, he stood up kind of funny but walked it off. The best part was after tho, when he went to the sidelines and slapped McD a 5 with smiles on their faces. Also saw one great block from him on Daniel Graham screen.
Mike said it best, they may say we are playing fluff teams but all we can do is play whoever is on our schedule. Next week happens to be dallas. I see the team coming in for movie night in dove valley to watch MNF lol
I think the team as a whole did great. D did their thing. All the veterans in the backfield, goodman said hes never experienced such great communication. special teams isnt too special but they do not too little not to much. We are getting to use royal on returns more. He will break a big one soon, give him time. Wish we could see him more on offense but he and Marshall have traded places from last year, now he is the double teamed one and Marshall is the freer one lol.
THE SEASON IS OURS FOR THE TAKING
GO BRONCOS!!!
Close your eyes, Raider Nation. JaMarucs Russell was sacked more times in the second half yesterday (3) than he had passing yards (1).
All I can say once again is WOW!!! The way we played against Oakland, actually the last 3 games is, our team is for real! Still, we are not going to get any respect unless we do well in this 10 game stretch that we have coming up, but I think we will fair well and be in great position to take the AFC West title this year!!!
As far as the lond ball not being there? You can’t really complain about Orton. He is playing mistake free football and throwing it away when no one is open. On some of the plays he rolled out and threw it away, I wouldn’t mind him trying to make a play on his feet and run for a few yards, he had that chance a couple of plays, but still NO INT’s!!! And also, he is throwing that ball with confidance and with more zing than i expected! He has a better arm that what most people think!
I can’t wait until Nov. 15th when we play washington because I will get to see us kick some A$$ in person!!!
DENVER ALL THE WAY 2009!!!!! AND FOREVER!!!!
PS: Young coaches might be the IN thing more and more now with Tomlin in pits and McD here. Maybe they just seem to relate with the players better. I will say one thing, out of most new coaches, McD lucked out in a sense and inherited a really good football team compared to the sorry excuse for teams that fire coaches. All we needed was a little spit shine and life on D. Hopefully the rest of his time in Denver goes as well as the beginning.
See what a little patience, faith and teamwork does to a team. Pure domination and a whole lotta WINS!! They’ve been very impressive.
Defense… what can I say. AMAZING!! Only 16 points allowed in 3 games… 16!!!! Dude, our D from last year would’ve doubled that in ONE game! If that’s not improvement or impressive, I don’t know what is.
Offense is getting better with each game, everyone is getting their fair share of opportunities. I like the way McD is spreading the ball around so that we’re not running the same ‘ol stuff over and over. He’s mixing it up and it throws off the other team. Only exception was our first drive of the game yesterday. We get to the goal line and all he does is try to run it up the middle for a TD for what 90 straight plays? Ok so it was like 4 or 5 tries up the middle but it felt like it was never gonna end. All those tries for a TD and we can’t get it?? Offense has plenty to work on but they’re getting there. They just need to focus and pay attention to what they are doing. Take it one game at a time. Don’t get excited and jump ahead. Orton is getting better with each game. He’s taking advantage of his chances and he’s proving himself.
Alright, I think he earned the right for me to call him by his real name after yesterday’s performance. Marshall came out to play… FINALLY! I think he’s starting to come around. There was a little story on him on the DP and he’s starting to see the light. Someone got to him, I don’t know who and I don’t care, just glad someone knocked some sense into him. He’s figured out its not all about him and it doesn’t matter what he thinks or wants… this is a TEAM effort, not the Marshall show. He was awesome yesterday. Was very happy to see him out there.
Our next victims are the Cowgirls. DESTROY them! Can’t wait to see Doom sack Lamo 10 times! haha
With faith…
GO BRONCOS!!!!
Iceberg u a MD native? same here, I am definitely considering that redskins game aswell, just depends on my availability but Ive never seen a broncos game live and would love to see one. Zorn might not be the coach by the time we play them tho lol, them skins are really stinking up the place.
baylinorcrush,
you got me again bro! At least I was in the close and gave the team respect column..haha
I don’t have much time to blog today but wanted to say, BRONCOS RULE!!!!!! 3-0!!!!
BRONCOS go 10-6 and to the playoffs!!!
RoyalBeast- No I am not a MD native. I am in the Navy and stationed in Virginia Beach, VA! I go to a game when ever I get a chance. I went to the game in Carolina as well as the final game of the season in San Diego last year. They were heart breaking for me but there is nothing like going to a game and supporting your team in person! My foavorite game that i went to is the last time we played Pitt in denver 2 seasons ago, which we won!!!
Hope you make it to the game, I love hanging out with other Broncos fans, we are few and far between out here!!!!
Well, the “preseason” is over and the next 5 games will tell the tale for Bronco fans and detractors alike. Two and three or worse and we’ll be lucky to finish 8-8; three and two or better and we’re definitely in the hunt for a playoff spot.
At the moment, our red-zone plays flat out stinks. Four times inside the 5 yard line and only 1 touchdown. With the quality of teams we will be facing the rest of the year, this has to change dramitically.
I wondered about the 19 yard average with longest being 17 yards. Probably meant 1.9 average.
Report card time:
SPECIAL TEAMS:
Kick Coverage: A Raiders got past the 20 only 1 time.
Kick Return: C Adequate, never any threat to break a big one. Hopefully this will change.
Punt Coverrage: N/A Only one punt and that went in the end zone.
Punt Return: See Kick return
OFFENSE:
QB: A- Completion percentage looks lousy because Orton has learned to throw it away if there’s no one open rather than Culter a pass (Throw into coverage and hope for a great catch.). No interceptions; that’s the key.
RB: B- Hillis has really disappointed me in his knack of doing the absolute worst thing possible and the most inopportune time. Everyone else is doing great with Moreno looking like a steal more and more each game.
WR: B+ Great to see Brandon involved in the game both catching and BLOCKING!!!! All-pro catch in front of Asingmaw (SP?).
OL: C- Only one TD out of 4 tries inside the 5 yard line. The announcers said very little about any Bronco OL injuries but I got the distinct impression that at one point, Polumbus was playing guard because both Kuper and Hockenstien (?) were out with injuries. Anybody know anything about that?
DEFENSE:
DL: A+ Only a few running plays went for decent yardage. Pass defense was good, but, with as bad as Russell is, it was hard to judge if the throws were off because of ceverage or because Russell just flat out sucks.
LB: Doom!!!! Great to see him performing at the same level he did his rookie year. No glaring failures to maintain their gap coverage on both run and pass plays.
SECONDARY: A+ Two picks. Terrible throws by Russell, but you still have to have covered correctly to take advantage of a bad throw.
I now one things for sure, if we beat any team in this 10 game stretch, I hope we beat the socks off of Dallas!!! I work with a bunch of Cowgirl fans and they are unbareable to talk to about football!!! I swear, you would think that Romo was born on a golden bed. They have all said that if they lose to the Broncos that they refuse to come to work because it will be the most embarrassing loss!!! I want to prove to them that Denver is for real!!!
I’m happy for my team. Nothing much to add, just that I’m better with 0 picks in offense than long balls.
I’m going to watch Dallas game tonight… as I think our coaches will do. A lot of helpful stuff to analyze.
Go Broncooos!
Well, we asked for it and he delivered. We told McD that he better show us the goods or we would be asking for his head. I am gladly humbled and I now buy into his system. We are 3-0, no matter how you slice it we are dominating. Top of the division and we beat one divisional opponent and we will end the chargers “domination” they think they have over us.
The NFC west is the only division without a 3-0 team leading the division. Just some “food for thought”
demarcus ware wont put a hand on orton..our protection is just way to good Clady or Harris
shneider, They’ve never quite been one of the better division. 49ers almost had it tho, they seem more like contenders than pretenders in that division.
Iceberg, yea i hear ya, not that many bronco fans around these part but yet alot of cowgirl fans in redskins area lol. Not fans of them either.
“Brandon had a great week of practice,” Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton said, “which translated into a great game. If we can get that out of myself and him and the rest of the offense — this is the best week of practice that we’ve had as a team.” – Dunno if it was the music or the pjs or w/e but if the team as a whole had their best practice last week, please try to duplicate the atmosphere lol
On the comment I made earlier, If there is any team we beat over the next 10 game stretch, forget the Cowboys, I hope we DEMOLISH the Chargers!!! I almost forgot how much I hate that team!!! The sad thing is my brother is a Chargers fan, and all i hear from him and every expert out there is how great that team is!!! They are the Rival team of the Broncos now!!! I know how we go back in the day against Oakland and K.C. but forget them, this is a new era. I HATE THE CHARGERS!!!
BRONCOS ALL THE WAY 2009!!!! AND FOREVER!!!
philip rivers in a motorcycle accident?
pahah i honestley hate him more than the chargers, but since he’s there..i hate the whole thing as well
Wow, what a great game yesterday! I found myself focusing on the Richard Seymour/Ryan Clady matchup most of the time the Broncos had the ball. Clady slapped him around like a little stepchild! Denver’s offensive line is playing really well and if they can continue that along with the defense then I think the Broncos have a shot against ANYBODY.
THE #1 DEFENSE after week three, SWEET!!
wow Baylin,
that was a good post, that was an interesting fact about Clady closing on on a record. Lets hope he breaks it a home, with all the fans watching.that be awesome.
By far the greatest catch of the game goes to “Marsh over All-Pro Asomugha”, now people see how that guy wasnt a machine…ahaha
TRB, I’m totally with you regarding the Dove Valley monday night football party. All last week, I was looking ahead and thinking how great it was that they scheduled us at HOME against the Cowboys coming off a SHORT week. A definite advantage here, sitting at Dove Valley, or home, either way, and watching the Cowboys while they’re finalizing the game plan and the Cowboys are busting their tails. That should bode well, not gonna make a score prediction til the week end, but I’ve had us beating the Cowboys since my March yearly predictions and that hasn’t change, I’m still looking for a win.
OC, always love a good loser! LOL. You can make it up Sunday, I’ll post the score by Saturday.
O7, good to see you here, a few folks were worried about you, I figured it’s just not Summer anymore with all that time on your hands and your studies must have really picked up by now. Don’t give up any of your studying for posting here, you definitely wont be rewarded much over here! LOL.
For all those who keep saying we should of hired Morris Really even after he helped destroy that team he screwed that team and it shows his D cant stop anyone he picked up leftwich LEFTWICH he sucks so bad he should be a third string QB not first. sorry just keep seeing we should of got Morris I think McD was a good pick he dos his homework and prepares He brought in Nolan and the players and helped turn are D into something that should be feared. I know we lost Cutler but looking at it now ya Orton only has 3 TD but Cutler has what 6 TD and 5 picks im ok without the picks for the fact thats whats keeping us in these games that and are D stoping teams with 3 and outs and turnovers.
Thanx, broncos20, glad you enjoyed it, did it last week also and will try to do it most of the year, posting the day following the game. What can I say I’m a Bronco junkie and I enjoy doing it even without getting paid for it, ahahah. I just takes short notes as I watch the game, then I put it down before I read any report on the game, that way, it’s just my eye, my thoughts.
