So Monday we picked up our deflated egos and hauled them to Rifle. Here, the Broncos faithful restored them with hearty handshakes, gleaming smiles and enthusiasm for the team that lost 41-3 the day before.
I really was not very excited to make the trip after what happened on Sunday. I figured the few people that did show up would just want to talk about how horribly the team played. You know what? About 600 people showed up and I’m not lying when I tell you that not one, NOT ONE person mentioned the game. They were just happy to get to see everyone and cheered us on for the next game.
Man, I wish we could play the next game in Rifle, because I’m a little dissappointed how quickly people throw in the towel. I understand being frustrated, believe me I know, but when I looked up to an empty crowd before the beginning of the fourth quarter last week … I was speechless (pun intended). How do such rabid fans that describe themselves as die-hards just pack up and leave?
I knew things were bad when we had the Chargers backed up in the south end and even the South Standers were sitting on their hands. As much as the team might need to dig deep and re-evaluate things, I think some of you fans do too. If you really are a die-hard, that means supporting the team no matter what the outcome. That means being there when the team needs you, and I can’t think of a time when the team needed you more than in the game last week.
So let’s shake it off, take the bye week to enjoy some other games, forget about last week, and let’s come out in force when the Steelers show up and show them that the Mile High Magic is not gone.

I live in Ohio, love the Broncos and you bet I would NOT leave early or give up.
I am behind the Broncos 100%, real fans never give up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i agree Miles, die-hard fan means exactly what u said, I’ll be there on the 21st!!!!
Yeah go Miles! I remember when your motorcycle broke down in front of Invesco and you had to wheel it into the stadium- you never gave up. That was an inspirational moment for me
The fans pay a lot of money for those tickets and deserve some preformace out of the Broncos. It was cold and wet, they were down by an embarrasing amout of points. If the Broncos could win fans would stay.
I agree, the players get paid millions of dollars to play, fans pay hundreds of hard earned dollars to see their team. I think the Broncos let the fans down with that dismal loss.
I subscribe to the mentality that after a loss (particularly a heavy one) is the best time to show your team spirit. Despite the fact that I live in New York, nearly every NFL team has representative fans in attendance at my high school, including several Chargers fans. The day after this past game, I proudly displayed my Broncos Jersey throughout the day, despite their taunts and talked trash just as much as anybody. Why do I do this? If you don’t show your support for your team in a rough time, you have no right to support them during a victorious time. That’s a true fan.
Miles,
We in Manti, Utah are no different than the denizens of Rifle, Colo. We love our Broncos and support them come what may. Obviously, this was a bad week, but we’ll rise again. Of this, I have no doubt.
When I go to the game against Tennessee, my butt will stay in my seat until the end of the game. And that is, whether my friend wants to or not.
Go Broncos!
irregardless of how they were playing, true fans would have stuck it out, i didnt see any of the broncos quit, so how come the fans did. the comment left by anonymous has no truth to it, otherwise it wouldnt be anonymous. living in wisconsin, in the middle of packerland, i still sat through it downtown, and they were just as deflated when the pack lost too. teams lose, it happens in the nfl, though it may have been embarrasing, its only one game, with 11 to go, and coming off a bye week, im ready for the rest of the season. GO BRONCOS!!!
notice the people that want to talk trash are anonymous…chicken s*** i say. fine voice your opinion…but be sure enough about what you say to put your name by it. i agree the team is payed to play better than that practice last sunday…yeah a practice, looked like the chargers were playing a high school team. but when the station that carride the game in NC switched games before it was over it made me mad enough to spit. die hard fans have been through seasons where we would have been greatful to start 2-3. and i read someone in the boards say give Shanny the axe…that is blasphemy and you should be burned at the stake. horrible game guys…but we play a whole season for a reason. the champ ain’t decided in round 6 and none of the players have thrown the towel in yet. to all you true die-hards find your nearest poser and feel free to hit em in the damn mouth.
and to the team
come on guys, i don’t wanna beg but my ex lives in pittsburgh and i really wanna see big ben get hit in his big mouth. really though…i need you guys to win this one. lol
they may not have done their bes tbut they did play hard and i will never give up on them!! just because we lose a couple of games doesnt mean we should trhow in the towel on our team!!! i agree with miles, the Broncos need our support n ima give it to them
This Bronco fan will be driving up from NM with a truck full of the faithful, the Broncos may be down a bit but this game should get the team back on track. No matter what we will be there for every down cheering our team to victory. Cut me on game day and I bleed orange and blue, and this game day big ben is going down. GO BRONCOS
WOW! the anonymous people have really LOST their minds!
Not to be rude, but seriously, if you pay so much for a ticket, to see the Broncos play, WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE???? Do you understand how MANY people who live in other states, who don’t have the money to go to that “losing” game would have had a blast. I wouldn’t care if they won, lost nothing, just to be there and support the team I love, would have been enough!!!! Being in Virginia it is hard to be able to attend a home game in Denver, or even an away game that may be only 6 hrs. away from me. And thats why I don’t think that it was right they all starting leaving. ALL teams in the NFL have bad games, not every team has always been undefeated, they ALL have bad games. The team was let down if you ask me, by their fans. You don’t leave somone hangin like that reguardless the score. If you are a true fan to a team, you will stand behind their every decision, and flaws. And thats jsut ridiculous that people left the team like that, SO really???? Who was let down, the fans or the team?????? Its just mind blowing!!!!
Hyracotherium, with an attitude like that, I can’t think of a better screen name. This is pretty much how I feel. Anyone can like a team when they are winning. This is what we call the bandwagoner. I feel that the majority of the Broncos fans are NOT bandwagoners, that’s why I was surprised at the game. I figured the true orange and blue would really show their colors when the team was down and needed them. I was watchng INSIDE the NFL and Chris Carter said that the Broncos no longer have a home field advantage at Invesco Field. Now I never had the priviledge of stepping hoof onto that field, or being in that building, but I think it’s the same fans, and that means that it’s just a change of venue. There is still a mystique about playing in Denver, and we need to make sure we are heard this weekend, win or lose.

WORRY NOT ABOUT THE FAIRWEATHER OF FANS,….DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN AND WHAT HE STANDS FOR TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I completely agree. Any true fan would stay the whole game no matter what.
no real fan would leave teams have bad games. I wear my colors every day, Go Broncos Go !
No true bronco fans could have walked out on that game. Not when the team needed the support the most. I do not care how embarrassing a loss it, I wear my broncos colors everyday in the middle of southern california. I fight back when I hear anyone talk badly about this team. You know why? because I am a TRUE broncos fan, no matter what the score of the game is.
