How ‘Bout Them Broncos?

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I had a great day yesterday.  I don’t know about you guys, but that’s what the season is all about.  It actually started on Sunday night when I was kind of a co-host for Raw Sports on Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain.  I got to kick it with Oren and Ryan and the rest of the staff.  I had a great time and I think they did too.

Then comes Monday.  We were giving our shirts, and beanies, and wiggle sticks.  There were spotlights and paratroopers and flames and, of course, ME!  That’s the way a Monday night game should go.  Everyone was pumped up and loud.  People were cheering the whole game.  Dare I say that was the epitome of a Denver Broncos home win!

After we scored the first touchdown I crowd surfed in the southeast stands and I’ve never made it up the crowd so fast.  You could tell people were just pumped.  The team just kept plugging away, scoring points and getting stops.

So let’s all be thankful for a great win.  Don’t forget to be thankful for your family and friends this week, and let’s carry this momentum into Chicago so we can come out of there with a win and be doubly thankful!

Take Up Your Arms!

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

So Monday we picked up our deflated egos and hauled them to Rifle.  Here, the Broncos faithful restored them with hearty handshakes, gleaming smiles and enthusiasm for the team that lost 41-3 the day before.

I really was not very excited to make the trip after what happened on Sunday.  I figured the few people that did show up would just want to talk about how horribly the team played.  You know what?  About 600 people showed up and I’m not lying when I tell you that not one, NOT ONE person mentioned the game.  They were just happy to get to see everyone and cheered us on for the next game.

Man, I wish we could play the next game in Rifle, because I’m a little dissappointed how quickly people throw in the towel.  I understand being frustrated, believe me I know, but when I looked up to an empty crowd before the beginning of the fourth quarter last week … I was speechless (pun intended).  How do such rabid fans that describe themselves as die-hards just pack up and leave?

Broomfield REPRESENT!

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Holy Cow!  Broomfield really IS Broncos Country.  We had another Flag Stop in Broomfield on Wednesday night and WOW!  It was easily the most attended stop so far.  Most guesses put attendance at about 3,000.  We had the usual cheerleaders, Super Bowl trophies, Billy Thompson, and of course, yours truly.

Me trying to get some love from some skeptical young fans

Another Cheyenne Road Trip?

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Yes…kind of. This time it was to Cheyenne Wells, CO, which is just down the road (I-70) a little bit (about 3 hours east). Over the next couple of weeks we are heading to the four corners of Broncos Country to officially “plant the flag.” We’ve selected a few places that really embody and represent Broncos Country and are celebrating with the citizens. We bring with us the Super Bowl Trophies, Alumni, Cheerleaders, and of course…ME!

We leave them with their own Broncos Country flag that they will fly proudly on game day. We also have the people sign a flag that we bring back with us and display here at the stadium. Our first stop was a great one! Cheyenne Wells has about 1,200 people in it, and I swear that most of them came out to greet us. They even let the schools out of their first day to come show their Broncos pride. We met a ton of great people including the Mayor of Cheyenne Wells, Monte Baker.
