We fought hard, and gave our all, but in the end it wasn’t enough. The kids from the Boys and Girls Club were a worthy opponent, and we were up to the challenge. I believe if we had more time, we would be victorious.
It was nice to hear people cheer for Dinger. I don’t think Dinger gets enough love. The whole state LOVES Rocky, and for good reason, and I don’t think I’ve ever been in another venue and not get love from the fans, but Dinger usually is greeted with crickets, or even sometimes some boos. But Sunday when he was announced, the stands exploded. Finally! Of course all of us here are wishing the Rockies and Dinger good luck.
Now, the game. I don’t think people realize how slippery these little kids can be. Twice I had the ball carrier all but wrapped up and just like that, he’s gone. I don’t know if they grease ‘em down or what, but there is a clear advantage to being small. They can change direction so quick and are hard to grab onto. But on our end, there’s an advantage to being big. First of all, it takes about half a dozen of them to bring us down. Second, they are short and easy to hurdle.

I’m looking for footage of the game so I can put it on YouTube or something. Our fake field goal worked perfect (on third down no less). The ol’ toss the ball over the shoulder like we’ve seen recently was awesome, and then me jumping over the kid was great, and to top it off with a touchdown just sealed the deal. But the blind ref said that I lost control of the ball before it broke the plane. I guess the genius of doing the fake field goal on third down really showed, because we had one more play to punch it in. The scene from Cable Guy comes to mind here. Where Jim Carrey jumps off of Jack Black’s back for the slam dunk and says, “Hey Rick! Thanks for the boost. I’ve never made a slam dunk before.”
Well, I got a “boost” from Blue of the Colts and was in for the touchdown. For the record, that wasn’t my first touchdown, and I HAVE made a slam dunk before.
So the kids rallied with just a few seconds left and we were again defeated by a narrow margin. ‘Tis life.
P.S.

It takes more than 2 guys to win a football game! This year I feel everyone is getting acquainted! And they need to. I expect a lot out of all the rookies next year with a full year under their belt. Especially Cutler! He is trying hard and he will be a great quarterback. HE WILL GET US TO THE SUPER BOWL AND WE WILL WIN! I have faith in the team we have now! Give them breathing room and be patient!!! It will be a long ride, but we will get there! I will not eat these words! I promise! Shanahan is a winner! So are the Bronco’s!
gp DENVER CUTLER ROCKS
You let that blue, pom-pon-stealing HORSE into our house?
