Monday Note: Nienhuis Released
After a hectic few days, we have a comparatively placid start to the second full week of March, with only this to report:
Doug Nienhuis‘ quiet Broncos career ended Monday afternoon when the team released him after a stint that covered nearly 17 months.
In that time, Nienhuis saw neither the field nor the 53-man roster in the regular season. He spent the last half of the 2006 campaign on the practice squad, then incurred a knee injury while allocated to NFL Europa last spring.
Nienhuis did not recover in time for training camp last summer and remained on the reserve/NFL Europa injured list throughout the season that followed.

I’ll say it again we need a bruising FB that can be a option out of the backfield and be a pass blocker.
Secondly I think Bronco Nation should start a pledge to give to the charity of the player’s choice who puts Philp Rivers on his ass this year. I’m in for 20$ What do you think?

Mr. Mason or any one else, is there some where on the web you can subscribe to so you can watch all the Bronco’s games on the web?

Mike Anderson is a FA, Ill bet hed be willing to go back to FB…he’d see more action at FB than he was at HB for the Ravens

I would also again like to put in my two cents for drafting Owen Schmitt. The best blocker and short yardage guy in the draft. He is exactly what we need and would help out our o-line if we happen to have weakness from the learning curve.

Thorpe:
In past years the NFL has provided an on-line viewing service — through Yahoo, I believe — but it is a pay service for overseas viewers only.

Hey Mr.Mason
This isn’t about this specific blog, but I have something REALLY important I need to ask you.
So, my cousin is 24 years old, about 6′0″, and he is an excellent Punter/Kicker.
We are currently in the process of getting a professional video camera to film him doing field goals and punts at the local high school football stadium.
Just to give you an idea, he lives in Houston, Texas (very humid air) and went 18/20 on 64-yd FG attempts…I know that it wasn’t a game situation, but 64-yds is still a hell of a kick. If he had the chance to play in Denver, that might add a yard or 2 to his kick with the thin air.
He is also a great Punter as well. He did some punting (20 punts), and averaged 69 yards a punt (shortest was 59 yards, longest was 78), and that is of course without the bounce. He also had some great hangtimes, I don’t recall exactly what his best one was, but it was in the 5.3 range (not certain though).
I’ve contacted other teams about possible tryouts, and I even got him a tryout for the Houston Texans. He was placed on a farm team, but due to the head coach of the team, Dustin (my cousin), felt that it wasn’t going to help him get any better by being there, and decided to leave. He played 6 games there, and hit several 60 yard field goals in game situations.
I’m still working on getting him a tryout for the Texans, because he lives in Houston, but I’m a Denver Bronco fan forever I was thinking “Hey…Dustin could go kick in Denver!”
I’ve enjoyed reading your blogs for quite a long time, and I figured that you might be able to help me get in contact with any of the Denver Talent Scounts or Agents.
PLEASE Contact me as soon as you can. You can send me a message at the Denver Bronco Forums or email me: pdl2010 at gmail.com
Thanks for reading!

Who was this guy?????
March 12th, 2008 at 5:11 am
Hey Mason, I have a cousin that’s a RB and HE WANTS A JOB! He’s about 6′0 tall, runs a 4.2 40, has a 50″ vertical and once ran through a brick wall. Think you can help him out? My man was obviously a crackhead SuperBowl and we need to find him a treatment facility.

Hey Mason,
I was thinking it would be a good idea to go through how trading or releasing a player affects the teams salary cap. I would like to know and I am sure many of your readers would like to know.
Also, can you send an email to the coaches and tell them to draft Chris Johnson (RB) as their return man.
Thanks,
R epublic of S outh A frica Bronco

Hey Mason,
Im really good at Madden…I mean, I rarely lose and scheme very well. Think Coach Shanahan has room for me on the staff?
Im just teasing the dude with his cousin, hell why not try to contact anyone you could to get the guy a shot. What do you have to lose?

HOLLY CRAP, “WHAT THE HELL IS GOIN’ ON OUT THERE! GRAB, GRAB, GRAB, NOBODY’S TACLIN’!” Mason I think you may have lost control in here, the inmates are loose!

Even the warden needs a little vacation every now and again … well, I haven’t had that this week; I’ve been working on our annual fan mock draft, which launches Thursday, with one pick per weekday through the actual draft.

The Texans schedueled a meeting with Myer’s. Man am I starting to dislike them more and more since Kubiak moved there, they are becoming like the old good Bronco teams while the Broncos seem to be falling further and further away from how good they used to be.
Although I think this offseason has been a smart one thus far by the Broncos; I don’t think they can afford to let Myers get away.
March 13th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Hey Mason, that poor guy up above wrote you a romantic novel about his cousin the lonesome kicker…..and you didn’t even so much as give him two words of your time.
RUDE!
March 13th, 2008 at 11:45 am
LPP I’m surprised you aren’t ripping Shanny along with the rest of us. He just lost his last scapegoat you know!
March 14th, 2008 at 2:03 am
Yeah, things are certainly mellow in Dove Valley. (lol)
March 14th, 2008 at 2:05 am
Can that kicker guy play DT ?
If he can….we are “definately” interested.
March 14th, 2008 at 3:37 am
Well for everyone that wants Big Al back in Denver or thinks there’s a chance you need to check out the lawsuit he just slapped on Denver. I’d say there’s some serious bad blood boiling over, especially considering the man can’t find a team. http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_856…

Hey Mason, did King Shanny make you take down the blog on the firing of Mr. Sundquist or what? Plenty of people find this firing to be a load of crap and I think you know why. He spoke out against Shanny’s moves, didn’t always see eye to eye with his decisions and it more than showed. Now I hear that Robertson is back on the radar with his bad knees and all? From what I’ve gathered Sundquist was TOTALLY against this trade yet there’s Shanny still trying to pull the trigger. Isn’t this the same coach that stated “we need to build through the draft” yet here we are ready to trade picks for a first round bust!!!
March 14th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Can that kicker guy coach because we need a new one. We have seriously become a joke of an organization. Seriously Mason why did you remove the Blog on Ted?
March 14th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Here’s the deal,
Al Wilson went to a “hospital”, not the training room.
Ted was a malcontent, he felt (and possibly rightly so) that he was “damned if he did, damned if he didn’t”, well, that doesn’t work come draft time, if you can’t give an honest opinion, get off the payroll.
March 14th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
We are not a joke.
We had a bad year, because we have a good heart and the deaths of two teamates meant something.
Ya wanna get real ? That’s the deal.
March 16th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
superchop7…..Are you serious? What was the excuse the year before last when we sucked as well? Do you have one yet?
March 17th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Superchop…….Shut it!
March 20th, 2008 at 9:55 am
LetPlummerPlay, Superchop is voicing his/her frickin opinion just like the rest of us. it’s not like he/she is dissing the Broncos organization!
