Lynch: ‘Real Encouraged’

John Lynch

Thursday’s practice was to be the test of whether John Lynch had recovered from the neck stinger he incurred Oct. 29 against the Green Bay Packers, and from all indications, the 15-year veteran passed.

“It went well,” Lynch said as he walked off the practice field following the two-and-a-quarter-hour session Thursday afternoon. “We had some spirited contact out there and it felt good. I think all things are looking real good.

“I’m real encouraged.”

Lynch, who fully participated in practice for a second consecutive day, said that the numbness and tingling were gone, and that all strength in his arm was back.

“It was gradual. Things started getting better,” he said. “It was something that happens to guys. Brian Dawkins went through it and missed five games. You can’t come back until you feel right and I’m feeling good.”

Perhaps most importantly, Lynch does not feel as if he needs to give the injury a second thought when game time arrives — a comfort that was primarily a result of his Thursday work, which saw the Broncos don their shoulder pads for the first time this week.

“You can’t play with reservations,” Lynch said. “I know from experience in this league that a recipe for getting hurt is if you’re out there going with any second thoughts. That’s why it was important to go out there today and let it go. I was able to do that and it felt good.”

ALSO OF NOTE …

Running back Travis Henry was in uniform, but saw limited participation … Fullback Paul Smith (calf) and wide receiver Javon Walker both sat out practice; Smith was in uniform while Walker was in sweats. Walker ran routes during the warmup period as he continues his recovery from Oct. 19 knee surgery … Kicker Jason Elam (calf), defensive end John Engelberger (shoulder) and tight end Tony Scheffler (chest) all went through the full gamut of practice repetitions … Defensive tackle Sam Adams returned to the field … In Tennessee, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has yet to practice this week due to a hamstring injury.

I just hope Haynesworth will be out for this week! It will give our run game a HUGE boost

Great news about Lynch. I lived in Tampa when he was a Buc and was thrilled when he came to Denver. Hopefully he will be ready to give some big hits Monday night.

Andrew Mason, howabout some more pictures from practice. I mean you put on like 7 or 9, but we need more! And don’t take pictures of backups and stuff, SHOW THE STARS!

  6. Andrew Says:

You can only get so many pictures in 10 minutes of warmups and stretching. That’s all we and the media members here are permitted to shoot. And as for which players — well, our job here is to chronicle the whole team, not just a few stars. That means showing a variety of faces — new guys, veterans, practice-squad guys, while also shooting players who are in key storylines — such as Travis Henry, so you guys could see the knee brace he’s wearing.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up. Pretty cool how you actually reply to comments.

    Hey,
How is it going? I think we are going to see the John Lynch that we saw on the highlight reels last season (for the biggest hits and stuff). Do you know who they are going to Mic up this week for our game Andrew?

I am thankful that John Lynch is ok.I am excited to hear he may be coming back!Lynch plays with a passion and energy that others only dream of,wich is only understated by his level of class both on and off the field.

    Andrew:

Any word on Travis Henry’s hearing? All I hear about is his knee. I really hope he’s found innocent, although I really don’t think he’s the runner the Broncos were looking for. I mean, he’s ok, but he’s not the real deal. Selvin Young, however, is. He (Young) reminds me a lot of a young Terrell Davis. He may not be quite as polished as TD, but for a rookie…not bad…not bad at alll.

    Go Broncos!!
I’ve so much hope for our young talent!
How could I have NOT SEEN how great Cutler is going to be?!
Far better than Vince Young OR Plummer!
It’s too bad he doesn’t have all the healthy parts of Shanny’s brilliant plan but I’m sure one day it’s going to prove to be amazing for all of us true blue orange and blue fans
    Go Broncos!!!

Incredible news about Lynch! I have a few friends (not after this) that have said he is washed up and old and needs to retire. I asked them to show me a more vicous, and savage saftey in the NFL. Im sure you can guess they couldnt name a soul. Go Broncos! Our defense is just that much stronger now with John in the back field! May Colorados golden sun shine upon him and his children for eternity!

  19. MileHiMagic6 Says:

I dont think Plummer was a bad QB. He just didnt have the rocket laser arm cutler has and not near the upside. He was a pretty decent QB and won some big games but he was not the ticket to a ring and Shanny knew this. But give the guy a break. he did better than Griese at least.

  20. owned Says:

    To OscarVofox,

I can name you a few vicious safeties, Bob Sanders, Troy Palamalu, Ed Reed, Rodney Harrison, Brian Dawkins, and Roy Williams to name a few.

John Lynch isn’t getting any younger and it seems as though he’s losing his touch.

  21. wormyblackburny Says:

Methinks LPP was being sarcastic. As for Lynch? I kinda wish Foxworth could stay at safety. John is a liability in the passing game (sorry Johnny, you know we love you), and Fox is a “good enough” tackler. This is a MUST WIN game against a good opponent. Time to pull it together. WHEN IS JAVON GONNA BE BACK, DREW?
