EX-NFL Guys Grapple with Sails

April 1st, 2011 - 2:08pm by mark_cooper

Not much new on the horizon but a lot of wraggling in the lockout talks.

Mentioned I was in Costa Rica with as few X-NFL players a few weeks ago. We had Jake Grove (Virginia Tech-Raiders-Dolphins) who just left the League after and injury with the Dolphins formerly with the Raiders…and the only reason I let him on my boat was he was with the Dolphins last or he’d have had to swim out to catch fish.

Big Dave Rimington of Nebraska, Outland trophy winner and the host of the Rimington Trophy each year given to the top offensive Center in Division 1 NCAA football is the chair and CEO of the Boomer Esiason Foundation. Dave’s staff did a great job putting together this CF (Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser) that raised money for kids in Costa Rica. 17 boat entrys and a absolutely wonderful tournament was held.

Tons of fish caught and Mike Shaad a former Eagle and Ram was also there with myself. I emceed the event and it looks like we have a new home for the future of this tournament and many of you who have never Deep sea fished or caught a billfish of any kind HAVE to come down and join the fun next year. We were at the Marina Pez Vela and stayed at the Hotel Mariposa in Quepos, Costa Rica, both have great websites you need to check out. GREAT place to vacation and catch the fish of a lifetime. Luna Tours handled all the boats and arrangements and Jerry the owner is the only guy to call in Quepos for fishing.

Anyway, greatd cuase and a lot of fun in a quick weekend of catching some wonderful sailfish and even a few Blue Marlin were caught. I’ll keep you posted on when they set the dates for next year and you can see years of the event on my facebook if you like that kind of stuff just friend me there and you’ll actually see years of destinations around the world as you all know I’m a fishing nut.

Headed to Abaco, Bahamas, Marsh Harbour for a bonefish tournament next week so, I’ll keep you posted on the off-season fishing :o ).. You should come join me.

I figured we would load up at RB as well until there was no FA. I still see Fox drafting a guy like Mikel LeShoure in the second round. Not a fan of it but I cant argue that Moreno needs help. IF we had FA im sure we woulda picked up a RB by now and still drafted one in later rounds in the draft but now it might be earlier.

Who ever we draft at RB we need a north and south baller up the middle type player.

I said that much earlier and said it first here: It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Fox turned LenDale into a FB.

  4. strandoftds says:

I can see that. Lendale blocked for Reggie Bush at USC.

Its funny u guys mention lendale as a fullback cuz when im playing people online in Madden, since we dont have an actual fullback, instead of playing with larsen as my full back I make Lendale my full back and it works like a charm. Like strand said he has a history of it but also it fills a whole we need addressed. I hope its a system that utilizes the FB for more than just blocking tho cuz lendale has skills. He woulda been a better FB before he lost weight but he is still heavy enough…

Lendale has the skills as a FB and RB.

    Denver Broncos
John Elway via Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/johnelway/): Busy week ahead with 13 of our 30 allotted draft prospect visits scheduled to meet with us at our facility. Da’Quan Bowers, Nick Fairley and Von Miller are among the players that we are bringing in this week. These visits are an opportunity for us to get to know the prospects better personally and also gauge their football knowledge.

This is when the fun begins.

Nice blue Coop, you still got the legs to hold that baby up, LOL, now release it!

Big sailfish, all catch and release and we handled that one quicky to get him back in the water unharmed…thanks for the defense ealier but you all know the drill..everyone has an opinion and I wasn’t going to comment. No need. and I was kinda offended he didn’t bust on my mullet haircut…back in the day :o )

I don’t take sides on the lockout issues because both have some valid concerns and we can speculate and make all the comments we want but it will get worked out.

I’ve been involved in raising money for CF for almost 20 year now, so when our blogger friend can come back and show me/us he’s done something that’s verifiable to the tune of millions of dollars raised to benefit someone else, I’ll acknowledge him. Until then, no comment is all that’s needed.

I enjoy reading all the speculation and your opinions on the QB’s and picks and possible trades we might make. It gives me a different insight into the team and the thoughts of others like yourselves that know and understand the game.

I’ve done two events here recently so have been slow to respond and avoided it for a while…..looking forward to the draft.
